The Punchbowl is a 17th century gastro pub, located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and the South Essex Salt marshes.

We offer nose-to-tail style menu, with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Our menu changes daily, as the season's best comes in, and always features day boat fish, meat, offal, rare breed steaks and excellent vegetarian cookery.

Our beautiful garden bar has a lawn and york-stone patio looking out across the farmland of Paglesham and the River Crouch. Throughout the summer we offer BBQ dining from our hand-cranked Asado and Rotisserie Grills.

Fallow Deer season ends on 30th April, so we salute this wonderful venison as another season closes. But as one door closes, another opens. Shellfish & Wild Bass are in-and the garden is really starting to show its paces. Rhubarb, beans, peas and seed potatoes such as the mighty Jersey Royal come into their finest. An Englishman’s home may well be his castle, but past the portcullis we quickly see Homo Angliana, tongs in hand, charring any meat that he may be lucky enough to procure. And rightly so. Barbecueing is one of Summer’s joys. We'll explore what slow smoking, searing heat from Binchotan charcoal and the effortless self-basting of rotisseries can achieve. Pork any number of ways, each one more delicious than the last, and even (gasp) vegetables benefit from the raw earthy smoke and embers of the barbecue. The Punch Bowl is lucky enough to have its very own outside kitchen, handsomely provisioned with Asado BBQs and a Bertha Oven. Join us for our monthly Wednesday Supper Club, a themed tasting experience that celebrates great food.

A truly lovely restaurant/pub . Our waitress was very accommodating . The food was fantastic and even the children cleaned their plates . I would definitely recommend for families or a special occasion.

Just great. Really lovely place to come to eat and enjoy some drinks. Took my mum and dad with my wife and daughter for Mother’s Day. We arrived early (on purpose) to have drinks in the bar and then went through for dinner. We had oysters , a starter, a main and dessert. All of the food and drinks were excellent. Can’t wait to go back!

Wonderful meal for 3, catered for my daughter who has a lemon allergy perfectly., with a great selection of foods. Everything freshly prepared, excellent service, very tasty food, well presented generous portions. New menu every day with local ingredients! Highly recommend and will be back!

The simply is by far the best experience in south The food is excellent and such high quality H dish is full of flour perfectly cooked This is the second time my partner and I have been to the punch people who eat out regularly in London ex seeds any other restaurant Location is absolutely stunning and easy to park It has a wonderful atmosphere and feels every time we visit Was so knowledgeable and attentive she made the visit thank you

Sunday roast was 10/10 - best roast I’ve eaten out in a while! Service was also spot on and really friendly welcoming staff. A new fave!

Superb food, very high quality environment, spotless linen serviettes/tablecloth and a waitress who was polite and charming. It was a very enjoyable lunch.
