Everything was great from the moment we walked in. We made reservations and were politely received. We had an amazing amuse bouche, appetizer (calamari) and both of our meals were perfectly prepared and tasted so amazing we grew more hungry as we ate them! I ordered the pork chop cooked to medium, and it was delicious and perfectly seasoned...not too much salt yet just enough to balance with the grits and grilled peach. My wife had the crab cake appetizer paired with the wedge salad and everything from the charred corn salsa and aioli served with the crab cakes, to the poblano ranch for the wedge salad, were perfectly seasoned and delicious. It was later in the evening so we couldn't see the Catawba River, however we did sit at the bar on the 5th floor and it was still magical. Shane and Ross were our bartenders and they delivered professional and courteous service the entire evening. Being on or near water and being able to enjoy food is one hell of an experience. I strongly suggest this establishment and appreciate their extremely professional, polite and Southern hospitable attitude and service. Job well done guys, especially thirty minutes before you close. Outstanding job! We will be back for date night very soon!
Great place for brunch. They offer complementary apple muffins to nosh on while waiting on your food. A nice assortment of appetizers. The fried okra was delish! Cut length wise with a nice coating and served with a wonderful aioli.
the chicken and biscuit was served with a dollop of herb gravy and two eggs (prepared your choice). Of course they offer mimosas by the glass or bottomless for only $13. The view overlooking the water created the perfect ambiance. Our server Lauren rounded out the experience. She was very attentive and kept the mimosas flowing. Thank you Pump House for the perfect dining experience.
The food and service were excellent, but the noise level kept this from being an outstanding dining experience. The place could benefit from some kind of acoustical treatment for noise control, as well as better placement of tables, which are much too close together. The diners behind us on the patio had obviously started a birthday celebration before arriving, and the more they drank, the louder they got. Waitpersons stacking dirty dishes also contributed to far too much noise.
Poor service, average food. Cool building. Sad the restaurant is not better. Probably a good place to drink.
Really disappointed in the brunch food quality!! Blueberry muffins dry & hard. Other food in unmemorable.
It was mother in law's 91st birthday. It's a5 story building so you have to use a small elevator to go between floors. Our table wasn't quite ready and the hostess suggested we wait in the rooftop bar. However, there were no spots to sit down and it was difficult for a show moving person to maneuver away from the flow of guests and staff.
None of that was the Pump House's fault, just a heads up. The view was great, the service was attentive, and it's a fun place to go. The food sounded better than it tasted, it was a bit bland, except for the gazpacho, which was super salty. Drink pours were small and very expensive. Moderate your expectations and you'll have a great time.
I would always recommend having a reservation made if dining on a weekend. The price of the cocktails were slightly higher than anticipated , however the flavor and presentation of the food entrees was excellent. This is a restaurant I would utilize again.
Food was good but service was poor. There are too many other great restaurants in the area to recommend this establishment. The restaurant is in a cool building a d the decor was nice. However, my wine glass was dirty and so was my silverware. The service was slow.
Overall experience was very good. Food was excellent and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Service was decent; our waiter only came to our table probably 3 times ( drink order, meal order, and to give us the check and take payment) yet he visited the other tables around us much more frequently and constant walked past us to do so.
Great Service, nice drinks and delicious food! Spectacular view!
Highly recommend The Pump House. We celebrated our daughters 13th birthday and had a great experience. The food, service, ambiance, and menu won't disappoint. Recommend booking w/ a reservation as they get busy.
Our server was professional and well mannered, my dinner was outstanding (Pecan Crusted Trout with Curry Cous Cous & Broccolini). I wish it was closer to home!!
Wonderful location, nice menu, excellent food. The only problem is there is too little indoor seating (when the temperature outside reaches 95+ degrees).
Took the family to the Pump House to celebrate my wife's birthday hoping for at least a decent meal and some quality time. Happily it turned out to be a stellar choice. A quick elevator ride up to the main dining room where there is a nice view of the Catawba River and an elegant decor. Our server was Lexxus who rates a 10 in my book, which is extremely rare for me. She was upbeat, knowledgeable and efficient. Great energy.
Crab cake and calamari appetizers were delicious. Our entrees included the shrimp and grits, springer mtn chicken and my favorite, the pan seared scallops. All were outstanding! If you're up for a great cocktail I recommend the Old York Sour which is basically a whisky sour with a red wine float on top. So happy we chose this place and to top it off, it's ten minutes from home. Perfect. Ask for Lexxus when you go. You won't be sorry.
Great food, good service! Fried Okra appetizer was a hit!
The Pump House never disappoints. I have dined there numerous times and the food and service are always outstanding. Be sure to order the fried okra. It's the best I have ever eaten!
The hostess and wait staff are welcoming and professional. Ask for Jacob or Nicole. They are exceptionally personable and go out of their way to make sure that their customers have a memorable dining experience.
Enjoy the view, architecture and history of one of the best restaurants in the area!
This was a spontaneous reservation for my wife and my Anniversary lunch and it was a great decision? We ate on the veranda overlooking the Catawba River and that was nice, the service Jake provided was outstanding and the food was off the chain fantastic! We will be back to experience evening dining.
Really great time as it always is. Sitting on the patio overlooking the river is perfect.
nice ambiance, good food, great riverview! worth a visit.
Service was great, food, not so much, if you are going to charge $40 for a Ribeye, then they need to serve a$40 Ribeye, the steak was cooked to the desired temperature but the meat was tough, no flavor, They did take care of it, but they need to know that they can not continue to try to serve that cut of meat off as a "Ribeye"
The food was wonderful. The staff very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this establishment!
Service was attentive and genuine! It helped make it a very enjoyable meal. Look forward to returning!
Meh, my husband and I looked forward to this dinner as we never have an opportunity to "treat" ourselves. The food was overpriced for the quantity and my dinner was luke warm. The service was mediocre and although the view and atmosphere was nice, we will not be back.
Restaurant was awesome. The only negative was it was very cold. The food and service were both great.
If you like burnt scallops, this place is for you. There were 7 of us. The cocktails were awful. Between appetizers & salads to the main course took 15-20 mins. The food was not seasoned at all. There was nothing there to bring us back except the ambience.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit at the Pump House restaurant in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Our waitress, Carissa made our visit even better. She was outstanding and extremely courteous to us from beginning to end. She should be commended on a job well done. We appreciate her very much. Thank you so much Carissa. Because of you, I recommend the Pump House to everyone.
Service was perfect! Beautiful renovation of a historic property. And the avocado risotto in my tuna dish was spot on!
Interesting meal choices. It’s nice the menu is online, but it never changes.
Service was great and all but one entree were very good. The price was reasonable as well. We had a nice anniversary celebration there. The kitchen even surprised us with a free little dessert to share
Our waiter, Andrew did a super job.
Should be better for the price. I didn’t really like anything. I couldn’t wait to leave.
Good service, good/quality food, excellent ambiance. Menu needs updating too few appetizer and main course options.
The french toast was phenomenal!!!
Everything was great as always. Very consistent.
The food was delicious. The chef is to be applauded. Best service we have had in a while, very professional wait staff. Such a unique building and renovated beautifully along side the Cawtaba river.
Great place. Food was outstanding. Waitress was attentive. Water view was terrific. Girls in their skimpy bikinis hanging out in the next door parking lot were totally awesome!
Everything was great! Food, service, and view were top notch. Will definitely be back again.
First time at The Pump House. Great meal and Mattie was a wonderful server. He has a great smile and great recommendations to go with the smile. We will return and bring a friend!
Clarissa waited our table and she was fabulous! I highly recommend asking to sit in her section!!
Plenty of mixed signals. Made a reservation - tried for 1:00PM and was instructed the first available was at 1:15PM. OK. Day before the luncheon date, I received an email to the effect that my reservation had been cancelled by the restaurant. Called and spoke with Jordan who had no idea why the cancellation, but reinstated it. We arrived a mite early, expecting to see a packed house - a reasonable inference due to the reservation experience. Not even close. Only a few occupied tables in the main room, a few more outside - no more than 25% fillled.
Waiter was good. Matthew. Engaging, knowledgeable, and very good provider. Menu is OK - nothing remarkable. I had the steak burger - the meat was excellent and cooked exactly to order. Can't speak to the rest of the fixin's - not the way I would prepare a burger - did not care for the pimento cheese or the cole slaw. Fries were overcooked and soggy.
We were guests, so we kept our observations to ourselves. For a place that advertises as an upscale eatery - with a dress code no less - although I have no idea what "classy casual" might mean - regardless, there were still the ubiquitous rednecks with ballcaps, even though there were no hotdogs served, nor was there a ballgame to be seen anywhere.
Unique, causal with an upscale feel. The food was amazing! We are visiting from NJ and saw it as we drove by. I’m so glad we decided to go. The service was excellent. Even though I made reservations on the main level they accommodated our party of 6 on the roof top. Looking forward to going back. Must go perfect date night place!
