The Pump House

Everything was lovely, from the atmosphere to the service to the food. Definitely will come back to The Pump House!
Visited for lunch with a colleague on Friday and had the special - seared scallops. My colleague had the hanger steak which he really enjoyed. Scallops were perfectly seared and served over a fantastic beet risotto and the meal was plated beautifully. Made reservations for dinner 4 days later for a group of 5. Ordered the scallops again and it was like a different dish. The scallops were not seared, but flaccid-like and looked like they’d been blackened. Beet Risotto was overly sweet and the plating was done with very little attention to detail. I love this place - service was excellent, view is awesome! Kitchen just seems inconsistent. It was restaurant week and most of us ordered off the regular menu. Could have been just an off night, but still a good overall experience.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. The meal come in good time and everything was very good.
Great dinner with exceptional service. The only negative is the wine we ordered they were out of so we chose an alternative and they were also out of that one. Ended up ordering cocktails.
Everything was amazing, the food was great, service was outstanding!!! Will definitely be going back!!
The food was great but the dessert could use some help!
We arrived early to have a drink at the bar on the main level. The bartender was very friendly and helpful. My mom and I both had looked at the menu earlier and both of us got the zscallop dinner. She loved the corn bread and we both thought the scallops were amazing. Overall, an outstanding restaurant!
Our meal was fantastic!
Had a great time celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary, great food and service
We enjoyed a full three course meal during restaurant week. Our waiter Alan was wonderful. I made a reservation the date before. The portions were small but the taste was exceptional. The presentation of the food was appealing as well. I enjoyed the crab cake, seared tuna, and lemon ricotta cheese cake. My photo won't upload. We dined on the heated patio.
We had a fantastic meal that we're still talking about. One of the best mixed drinks I've ever had. We'll definitely go back. It's pricey but so worth it!
It was great
Dinner with friends including 2 young children was outstanding. Several of us had the Restaurant Week menu that included tuna. It was ordered from "raw" to medium and each plate was perfect. We also enjoyed the decanting of a very special wine and the kids loved their meals as well. A fantastic evening at our favorite place, The Pump House.
It was my birthday - we were thinking about going to another "iconic" Charlotte steak house, but after reading reviews, were quite put off by how much it has gone down hill. My husband suggested The Pump House! It was the right choice. We sat on their heated porch and had an awesome view of the river and the sun set. About half a dozen deer were foraging on the far bank of the Catawba and the Canada gees and Comorants were lounging on the rocks in the river. The food was great! Matt, our server, was just stellar. His attentiveness and suggestions were right on. Will definitely return!
Me and my husband thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere was really chill, the service was great and the food was amazing! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Wonderful food & service for a birthday! Quiet out on the balcony and the heaters took the chill off! This was our first visit but we will return soon! Thanks!
We love the food, the view, the ambiance and on our most recent visit Sarah our server. She was friendly, timely and helpful with everything. She made our experience even more special as we celebrated my Dad's 83rd birthday!
Was a little disappointed this trip to Pump House. Had been several times before for lunch & dinner. Seems the entree's continue to get more and more expensive. Only one member of our group ordered an entree - others chose a starter for their entree.
The beet salad use to be wonderful - this time it was a plate full of arugula with two slices of beets.
Sunday while some family from out of town came to visit we went to the Pump House to eat and it was absolutely to die for. We sat on the 3rd floor outside; which was very nice as it had heaters and overlooked the Catawba river...the setting was perfect. The menu was fantastic too, it was so good I couldn't figure out what to get. We eventually decided to get the meatballs and fried green tomatoes as appetizers and those both are highly recommended; I could have eaten hundreds of them they were so tasty. Hard to believe but our entrees were even better. Thank you to the staff and Rodney for making our dinner night so special and amazing. We will be recommending this restaurant to everyone.
This one amazing restaurant. The service was outstanding.
What didn’t we love there! Between the charcuterie appetizer to the gf chocolate cake everything was beyond exceptional! Our server Andrew was just as amazing and very prompt. Will return!
As always we had a wonderful dinner.
1st visit. Really neat environment. Friendly efficient service with excellent food.
Excellent Meal and Outstanding Service ! Waiter went out his way to assist with Gluten Free option for my date. The manager came by and checked on us. Mattie, the waiter was outstanding.
The meal portion was adequate and delicious.
Price was fair.
Absolutely AMAZING!!! The food, the service, the atmosphere, every single thing.
Our server, Andrew< was exceptional! Food was delicious! (But pricey). Great ambiance! Enjoyed ourselves!
We absolutely love The Pump House!! The views are wonderful, the food is amazing and the staff is top notch. It doesn’t get any better!! Go visit. You will NOT be disappointed!!
Amazing good & service... a bit of a wait even with reservations but that was no problem. Also hard to find this place, gps got all confused
The Elk was out of this world. But kinda bummed out because if it’s for a special occasion and you are dressed up, there are people in T-shirt’s and ball caps there. Otherwise it was great
The food is different. Very tasty. It is small so make reservations. The dining area is small, the bar area is small. But the ambiance is great. It is not your typical tasting food so be prepared for different in a good way. The only issue with my dish is the scallops had some grit in them. I did not complain - was not going to send food back over it because I have cooked scallops before and I did not get all my sand out. Just be aware of that if you order the scallops. Friends had pork chop and tuna and both raved over theirs. Wait staff great and really enjoyed our dinner.
loved the restaurant and plan on visiting often.
Went for my birthday and the wine list, menu, service was first class and the restaurant is different in a good way. Nice to get away from the "chain look and feel"
What an amazing restaurant! The reception hostess greeted me immediately and was quite pleasant. I had set my reservation through Open Table and my request to be near a window was met, however We were seated by the door which was quite busy. Jill our waitress was very attentive and gave us great suggestions. Her happy and enthusiastic demeanor was refreshing and quite pleasant. Our dinner was quite DELIGHTFUL, we had the beet salad and mushroom soup for our appetizer and I will share that we completely devoured it...in fact we both joked that it was so good that we weren’t going to be able to eat our main course.
The main course arrived which we both had the filet and risotto, it was divine!!! The filet was cooked perfectly to our liking, the meat was perfectly seasoned and truly melt in your mouth worthy, the herbs on top made for a delightful twist and paired incredibly well with the risotto. We left almost nothing on our plates. I was well satiated!! I usually take pictures of my meals to post, however we were so caught up in the food itself that I truly forgot. I can’t wait to come in the spring or summer months where I can take in the scenery! I loved the ambiance and the use of space, it is incredibly architecturally interesting.
Myself and 3 friends went to the Pump House for dinner on Jan 2. ,2019. We all ordered the Salmon dinner. It was outstanding and the server (zoie)was on point with everything. I would highly recommend!
The ribeye I ordered was very tough. Sent it back and the manager came by and said he would select a nice cut of meat and when it came out it was well done and tough as well. Ended up getting Salmon after that which was good but disappointed in the steak. The service was good and the manager was very nice. Did what he could to make it right.
The best! Enjoy the evening and service was superb! Thank you
A very nice New Years Eve menu that was a great value complemented by attentive, knowledgeable but not intrusive service.
New Year’s Eve everything was good but food was just ok. With the set menu you could clearly tell it was mass produced.
Food was not very good; and they had ran out of the wine that I wanted ; I will not go there again
There were six of us and we didn't realize when we made the reservation on Open Table that they were only serving your choice of a limited menu set for New Years Eve. It was a 4 course menu (that started with one course being one set wine) but the dinner menu sounded good after we arrived so we decided why not let's just go along. Although I am on a reduced diet and couldn't get what I had planned to order. SOOO for $69 when several of us ordered the Scallop(S) appetizer, it was a shock to only receive ONE scallop on our plate. When we inquired why does the menu state it as plural, we were told oh those were the little scallops and our scallops are big (it looked like a normal scallop to all of us) so we only are giving one. In fairness the one scallop was very good. But overall, most of us did not think the food was anything spectacular for the Pump House and there seemed to be small glitches from the hostess to the kitchen. There were managers on hand working very hard to correct a couple of minor snafus with our order which we did appreciate. It was a nice evening but I was the one who had suggested Pump House to the group so I was a little disappointed in the experience. The Pump House seems to be a little hit or miss on the great experience. I've had both there. I'd love to see more consistency! But if you have never been, it's definitely worth trying.
great experience like always
