   It was very busy and we were late to our reservation. They were very accommodating. Our server was on point. Oysters were fabulous and the beer selection was great. Definitely going back.

   The food here was wonderful as always. I’ve been a few times so I always recommend it. Tonight I went to dinner with a friend I hadn’t seen forever so I was excited to catch up with her. It was so loud I felt like we were screaming at each other. Our server was great, but the hostess had serious attitude. I have no problem with the communal tables, but she sat us at the same time, at the same table as a group of about 10-12 ppl. We asked to sit elsewhere since we knew they would likely be there the whole time we were and she refused. We were there early for dinner (and it was Tuesday) so there were at least 50 (not exaggerating) other open seats. It was awkward and the group seemed pretty unhappy we were sat there as well. It was like we were crashing a private party, but weren’t allowed to leave lol. It made it very difficult to have a conversation as they were loud and the music was blaring. Go for the food, not for conversation.

   We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation. Despite seeing empty tables, the hostess had our group of five waiting awkwardly in the doorway for 10 minutes...we finally asked if we would be seated early; she informed us that "they were running on time", and we still had to wait another 20 minutes, but we could go to their sister deli market across the street. OK...might have been nice to volunteer that information when we arrived. While at their sister deli, we had friendly service, saw some amazing meat piled sandwiches, and were generally excited about the meal to come. Fast forward to our actual menu - limited for brunch, and out of 5 dishes, not ONE of them lived up to the hyped reputation...or looked as good as the heaping sandwiches we saw at the deli. The only thing hyped was the check.

   mothers day brunch with wife and son and lady, was spectacular! great selection of beer, knowledgable staff, with great suggestions. attentiveness was very hood !!

   I'm never disappointed at The Publican. The ingredients really shine, as does the preparation. The wait staff are always pleasant and competent. They've really got their act together. Recommended enthusiastically.

    My husband and I LOVE The Publican. It's one of our favorite spots to take out of town guests. It's an interesting and unique menu in a cozy setting. We love getting multiple plates and sharing. We ALWAYS get the ham hock!!
