Nice option for a bite before a show. Simple menu at reasonable prices. Chicken club was tasty; the chicken parm with linguini special was only okay (shepherds pie would have been a smarter order). Service was great. We'll be back!
Beautiful space and delicious food. Great new find
Hidden gem! The staff goes out of their way to please you. The food is always delicious and interesting. We have returned and will return.
gorgeous setting--garden seating is like outdoor dining, while indoors, staff was warm, welcoming, polite and could not be more helpful. actual smiles and pleasant conversation from each and every staff member. food was incredible--made exactly as we ordered---hot and fresh--and great prices---drinks were very colorful and made with great imagination--and we were told that id we tried something new--and we did not like it--we would not be charged, and could order another selection---was not necessay as each and every course and drink was better than we could have asked for---desert was insane--and because all 4 of us ordered desert, the waiter brought an additional different desert, comped by the chef, for us to taste---this was a pre-theater lunch---and it was not crowded but busy, we were not rushed, the atmosphere was incredible and it felt like a special occasion meal---(not a pre broadway, prix-fixe commercial, no taste lunch) we frequent the theater often, and have been at the touist traps, and the 5 star, clear your wallet restauarants in the area---this was a breath of fresh air--beautiful, clean pleasant surroundings, in the center of the theater district, with streaming sunlight, pleasant people, great food and a final bill that was actually a bargain.. the food is gourmet quality---GO HERE AND AVOID THE CROWDS AND THE MEDIOCRE FOOD--ALL FOR A GREAT PRICE
Perfect for a meal before a show. The creamy burrata as an appetizer was truly delicious, as was the Gaelic chicken. The staff are lovely!
Great little spot in Times Square- quaint and quiet - would go back
The Public House was small and quaint, nice ambiance. There was a very strong smell of cologne when walking in, so that wasn't appetizing-not sure if it was the restaurant itself or what. The server was great-we were a large group, so a lot to handle but he was solid. The food was just okay. The shepherds pie empanadas were really dry, the brussels were one note-needed to be a bit crispier. The seafood chowder was excellent. The charcuterie board was great but took as long as the meal to get to the table so we were pretty hungry. The cocktails were also just okay. Overall, it was a fine place and they accommodated our large group of 13.
We really enjoyed our early evening dinner. The spirit of Ireland with a joyful attitude toward service was evident in the whole restaurant. Ciera and those supporting her at the front desk, bar and kitchen made the whole evening enjoyable. Our food was hot and flavorful with choices reflecting a fresh, yet familiar menu. We enjoyed the special drink, entrée as well as a traditional Irish dish. We have chosen this restaurant as our favorite particularly for our theater nights.
I was very impressed by the food and service. If you want a quiet dinner atmosphere sit away from the bar.
We had a group of people together on Sunday and they could not have been nicer to us. The food was good and the atmosphere was beautiful. We'll be back for sure.
Service was perfect. Highly recommend the lemon ricotta pancakes. It was delicious. We sat on the “patio” which was a cozy glass topped room surrounded by buildings. It was nice.
Great experience although we were rushing to go see a broadway show
Will go back again!
Light filled and friendly, today was our third opportunity to enjoy the sunroom. Brunch is excellent but the service is way above par. What a treat!
Six ladies for dinner - WE LOVED IT ....the food...the setting...the staff....everything was just perfect...a hidden gem that we will surely return to and recommend
Very tasty food presented nicely, with friendly service. A diamond in the times square rough.
Lovely little restaurant with a bright atrium in the back. The menu is modern Irish— I had the shepherds pie ( delicious) and my friends had shrimp sandwiches. This was my second visit. Very friendly and accommodating wait staff. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that it’s not overly crowded or noisy. Most Manhattan restaurants seat you on top of one another and it’s difficult to hear. This place is just comfortable and welcoming. Great if you want to actually hear your friends!
Had a very enjoyable meal served by attentive yet non-intrusive wait staff. I will definitely be back and would (and already have!) recommend this restaurant to all.
Food and service were excellent. Small area for dinner but nice to be able to talk to guests. Nice find. Not expensive for ny
We loved The Public House from the time we were greeted till leaving the restaurant. The service was excellent, Genna was very polite and informative about the menu. The decor made it very quaint which made it feel very homey. We loved the specialty cocktails and the food was excellent. Troy ,the maitre d, was hospitable, and ensured everything was perfect for our dinner. We can’t wait to go back to this little gem in a big city.
What a lovely, calming break from the hustle and bustle of Times Square! The charming decor, friendly service, and delicious Irish breakfast are highly recommended.
Friendly service, an enticing menu and charming decor - especially the glassed garden room.
Great spot! Food and service were great! Convenient to theatre district,
Great lunch spot in the Times Square area. Staff was wonderful and food was terrific.
The Public House is a delight. Gracious wait staff, many from Ireland, so I'd be happy just to sit and enjoy their beautiful accents and charm. Delicious food - I had an early dinner with a friend, having just come from a matinee - great quinoa and faro salad with a nice piece of salmon on top. Terrific location just off Broadway in the Theater District - a lovely repose. (And the adjacent hotel looks super too.)
This place is so lovely. The food variety and quality is excellent and the service is great. Perfect for a quiet business lunch.
Great hidden gem in the middle of the theatre district. A sleek, modern space with up-scale pub food (plus other more substantial dinner options) at a reasonable price. Loved sitting in the "conservatory" with its natural light coming from the glass roof overhead.
Great ambiance and good food. We had the salmon, pub burger and the pork chop.
Nice spot for pre theater meal!
Greeted warmly and the excellent customer service continued thru meal.
I had a delicious crab cake sandwich with fabulous fries.
First time we had visited...food was fabulous, service was excellent (thank you, any!) ambience means we’ll be returning. One of the best pre-broadway show meals we’ve had...almost didn’t want to write this review as would love to keep this hidden gem a secret!!!
We wanted to select a place where we can talk for a farewell lunch if a board member. This restaurant is quiet and service was amazing. We ordered JC club sandwiches, salad, smoked salmon, Beyond burger and crab cake sandwiches. They were all delicious. The price is very reasonable. We will definitely return again.
Great food and good vibe!
Lovely light dinner with fantastic atmosphere. It felt like a small quaint restaurant just steps from all the hustle if Times Square.
This quaint little pub/bistro/restaurant inside the Merrion Row boutique hotel was lovely. It was quiet enough for good conversation, yet upbeat and lively enough for a birthday celebration date. Our server Amanda was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly without ever being obtrusive. And, the crab cake was delicious and the mocktails make us forget that they were not alcohol based. Refreshing! This little gem of a restaurant is the perfect date spot, pre dinner theater bite or with a group of friends who just wants to relax and enjoy a pleasant vibe and great food. Everyone there that we met, manager, front desk person, support staff was incredibly nice. We will be back.
Everything was fine, was located near a show we were going to see. Not delicious but very edible.
Hidden treasure. One of our quiet go-tos for a quiet meal before or after a show.
Great small gem tucked away on 45th street. Worth the visit!
Great service and very nice restaurant. I sent my Halibut dinner back because it was over cooked. Came back the same way. They compensated by offering free drinks or dessert.
Perfect pre-theatre experience.
We sat in the enclosed area outside of the bar. It was filled with light and such a nice place to be. My son and I could not have had better service and both of our meals were delicious. The bar area was noisy than where we were. I would definitely go back especially great for before an evening show.
This was our first time at The Public House and we’ll definitely be back! The food was delicious and flavorful, the service was fantastic. Our waitress Amanda, and assistant William ensured we always had full glasses of water and prompt drink refills. The menu has choices for all palates and preferences, and the prices are very reasonable...especially for the neighborhood. The ambiance is comfortable...I’d definitely recommend sitting in the back room because it’s brightly lit with the lovely glass ceiling.
We’ll definitely be back!
