Great BBQ, solid team, will be back!
We found The Pub after a 13 hour day of traveling. It was pouring rain outside and a bit chilly. What we found was very comforting. We were greeted with, "Welcome. Come on in. " Our server explained things we wanted to know. We had a drink. My husband had the pulled pork which he found delicious. I had the barbecued pot roast which was so tender I didn't need a knife. We both loved the Mac and cheese. Comfort food after a rough day!
Apparently no host or hostess as we waited a long time just to be greeted. Restaurant was not crowded, so strange that there was no dedicated hostess. Server however was attentive and very friendly.
Horrible service. Horrible food. Total tourist trap.
We stopped here to get together with family, unfortunately there was a B-day party right near us and we could barely hear ourselves think. So even though it was quite chilly outside we elected to go there under the overhead heaters and eat. It was still cold but atleast we could talk. We ordered and our drinks came right away. When our food came they forgot 2 items and then forgot a 2nd round of drinks. So we had to flag our server down and remind her. The food was just OK. We probably will not go back again as nothing Wowed us enough to do so.
We waited at least 5 minutes for a server to great us and when we tried to order the brisket was sold out. We ended up just getting beers and the Mac n cheese as an app and went somewhere else for dinner. However, the Mac n cheese was really good, wish they had what we wanted for dinner.
The food was horrible, very greasy fish and chips. Wine selection was really bad for being in wine country. Very little food for price.
The food was not good at all. Explains why it was so empty in there. Unfortunate because it’s a great location. Wish I would have listened to a friends recommendation and went somewhere else.
Headed to The Pub BBQ at Ghiradelli Square to get a place by the water. The restaurant was located at the foot of Ghiradelli Square with great views of Aquatic Cove and the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. The restaurant it self was a modern, stylish, pub-oriented place. Very "live" environment, which can make conversation difficult. Staff were friendly and, above all, honest. So we should have taken to heart the waiter's comment that "well, this is San Francisco bbq, not Alabama's," suggesting we keep our expectations in check. True to word, the ribs were a bit disappointing, but generous in quantity. Overall, the meal was saved by the incredible "Almost World Famous Tommy Tots" and the fun environment, location.
Delicious food, terrific beverages and great service.
Love the food and good portion too!
Great brunch food. Too bad they don’t offer a full menu.
Late night dinner with boo
Food was ok price was pretty much in line with SF prices. The difference maker was the service, we were in SF for one day and night from Minnesota and walking in the door we were made to feel special and appreciated for our business. The host who sat us was friendly and engaging ,knew of my seating request and made sure that it happened. The waitress was efficient, happy, and outgoing. Said she was from South Dakota and engaged in Midwest banter about her home state. Those two persons are what set The Pub at Ghiaredelli Square apart from the myriad of choices to eat. Price? Ok Food? Ok
Service? Outstanding !
My cousin was in SF on a job assignment and decided to meet up to have catch-up conversation over some good bar food such as wings. Went on Open Table and saw this place and decided to give it try. The ambience was great however the wings although baked the taste was just so-so and being in fisherman‘s wharf I was in the mood for some delicious clam chowder which was just so-so.
Would I come back again or recommend… Probably not, but it was convenient to her hotel and T Fisherman’s Wharf and the drinks were pretty good.
Genuinely lovely staff, friendly and helpful. Food was tremendous. Uncomplicated menu, really relaxed environment. Large portion sizes.
The staff was fantastic the drinks were good the food was good I just didn’t feel for the pricing on the menu to the plate of food I received it was worth ever going again which is too bad. The cornbread had no flavor whatsoever. The brisket was good but for the price there should have been more than 3 very thin slices, my husband ordered the ribs and again for the price there should have been more than 3 ribs. My grandaughter ordered the pulled pork she actually got quite a bit. Overall I probably would not return. I don’t mind paying for a good meal but at least make me feel like I’m getting my money’s worth
I would definitely recommend the truffle mac and cheese and also the expresso Burger. They are both out of this world!!
I felt bad for our server. i will start the review by saying our server was great. She was attentive, very pleasant, and didn't mind that we sat for a while before ordering our meal. We ordered two meals. One was ok. the other (the ribs) was awful. the ribs were over cooked and so tough she couldn't bite through them. We thought it was just our bad luck, but the table next to us, a party of 4, had to send one of THEIR meals back. That is 1/3 of the meals that were inedible. I do NOT know what they sent back. we all agreed the replacement meals were acceptable but when 1/3 of your party has to eat after everyone else, that is not good. And it was early, the place was only about 20% full, so there was no excuse that the kitchen was overwhelmed. And i can say, even for those of us that were able to eat our meals first time out, the best i could rate them was acceptable. This place likely draws tourists, as i doubt it could survive on repeat business.
We waited 20 minutes for someone to take drink order. Then after another 15 minutes, we walked up to bar to say we needed our drinks and we were ready to order. Food and service was horrible!!
Mediocre food. Service fine. No need to rush back.
The food was marginal. They did not give one single piece of lettuce, tomato, onion etc with a $16 burger! Their "zagat rated" espresso burger was very lack-luster. Good fries. Not going back. 😕
This is a GREAT PLACE for dinner. Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The staff is GREAT. A must visit when in San Fran
Very few vegetarian options. Sloooooow service. Unreliable host wouldn't seat us, claimed to be full with an hour wait so we went across the street and booked instantly on Open Table. Will not return.
Would highly recommend. Burgers were cooked to order & fries were terrific
Great food. Try the bbq pot roast. Also loved the beans and the potato salad.
The menu at the Pub BBQ is one factor that sets this restaurant off from the many excellent eateries in San Francisco. As visitors, we found that the city offers great seafood, Italian, Italian seafood, and a few other ethnic choices. Finding a restaurant with a different emphasis offered a pleasant change.
Our meals (BBQ Brisket and a Salad) were tasty and nicely presented. Service was friendly and quick, but in no way rushed. One might describe the decor as modern industrial. Any way you describe it, the environment was comfortable. On Fisherman's Wharf at Ghidaredlli Square, the Pub is ideally located for San Francisco tourists.
Nice food, atmosphere and price. I would certainly go again.
We chose The Pub, looking forward to the BBQ, but as it was Sunday before 2 p.m., could only order off of the Brunch Menu. The only BBQ thing on it was the Pulled Pork Sandwich. The pig was good, but the slaw was inedibly salty. The fries were pale and undercooked, which, if they were freshly cut, made them taste frozen. Still, it was a good locale and in a pinch, I would give them another chance during full BBQ hours.
On vacation with friends. Booked in advance so no waiting after a long day of sightseeing. Great good, staff was very nice. A good place to go if visiting San Fran with friends and family.
Great food and atmosphere. We had hot wings and pulled pork!! Very good! Our server (Terry) was excellent as was the bartender (Curtis). Lots of fun! Great ambiance! We will be back next time we're in San Fran!!
Great comfort food with a view of the bay with outside seating available. Perfect break from the touristy spots on Pier 39 and easy walk from North Beach area
The Pub was absolutely great for us. We were 4 adults, 2 kids and 2 babies, and the staff was able to seat us all comfortably. We all were very happy with our meals and able to enjoy conversation. The service was fast and friendly, and we were well taken care of.
Loved this gem. Was visiting from out of town and wanted to go to a local spot with good views. The food was outstanding. I had the Buffalo Mac and cheese as well as the Brussels sprouts. They were delicious as were the meals of the rest of our table. Wings, regular Mac and cheese and a salad. So yummy and I would recommend.
Great food and wonderful service. Will definitely go back the next time I'm in the bay area.
Food was okay. Service was okay. Host did not register me as showing up reserved using open table. He was too busy bussing and closing blinds.
Great spot near Fisherman's Wharf with awesome food!!!! Try to get there before they run out of tater tots
Fun atmosphere. Great pulled pork. Nice craft beer selection on tap.
Had family in from Michigan and wanted a place that was close to Fisherman's Wharf but away from crazy crowd. This was perfect, service and food both good and they take reservations - which was awesome. We had one member of our party in a wheelchair and they were prepared to accommodate us.
Everyone liked everything ordered from drinks to mains and sides. Didn't try desserts. Server was friendly and just the right amount of attention without being a pest.
