The Pub BBQ at Ghiradelli Square Ratings and Reviews
The menu at the Pub BBQ is one factor that sets this restaurant off from the many excellent eateries in San Francisco. As visitors, we found that the city offers great seafood, Italian, Italian seafood, and a few other ethnic choices. Finding a restaurant with a different emphasis offered a pleasant change.
Our meals (BBQ Brisket and a Salad) were tasty and nicely presented. Service was friendly and quick, but in no way rushed. One might describe the decor as modern industrial. Any way you describe it, the environment was comfortable. On Fisherman's Wharf at Ghidaredlli Square, the Pub is ideally located for San Francisco tourists.
We chose The Pub, looking forward to the BBQ, but as it was Sunday before 2 p.m., could only order off of the Brunch Menu. The only BBQ thing on it was the Pulled Pork Sandwich. The pig was good, but the slaw was inedibly salty. The fries were pale and undercooked, which, if they were freshly cut, made them taste frozen. Still, it was a good locale and in a pinch, I would give them another chance during full BBQ hours.
The Pub was absolutely great for us. We were 4 adults, 2 kids and 2 babies, and the staff was able to seat us all comfortably. We all were very happy with our meals and able to enjoy conversation. The service was fast and friendly, and we were well taken care of.
Loved this gem. Was visiting from out of town and wanted to go to a local spot with good views. The food was outstanding. I had the Buffalo Mac and cheese as well as the Brussels sprouts. They were delicious as were the meals of the rest of our table. Wings, regular Mac and cheese and a salad. So yummy and I would recommend.
Had family in from Michigan and wanted a place that was close to Fisherman's Wharf but away from crazy crowd. This was perfect, service and food both good and they take reservations - which was awesome. We had one member of our party in a wheelchair and they were prepared to accommodate us.
This is one of our go-to places but we ended up leaving after 10 minutes... first, we were given a lackluster greeting and seated at high, four-top in the bar. The hostess dropped the menus and left without a word before we could ask for a different table. Too loud in the bar and there were other tables available. We then sat there for almost 10 minutes without anyone coming by. No water, no one giving the "I'll be with you in a moment" nod. Nothing. We left. Disappointing. We go to the Pub at least once a month. Hoping this was a one-off.
The food here was ok, not sublime but totally edible. The quinoa stuffed sweet potato was unseasoned - could have been yummy but unfortunately tasted very bland. The pulled pork sliders were more flavoursome and the side of beans were tasty. Would not actively seek to return but it is what it says on the tin - Pub grub in a great location.
Went here for dinner and it was delicious. In town from Miami, Fl and we were looking for a kid friendly place. The giants were playing and although it was cloudy and raining the crowd did not disappoint. My husband and I share the triple meat plate. Brisket, spare ribs, and pot roast were tender and flavorful. We had local beers, mine was the 805 and that too was yummy. Best part kids were happy and made for an awesome outing.
The service was fine but the food was bland. In our group, we ordered ribs, pulled pork and brisket. While the meat was prepared well, the sauces were not flavorful and overall were a disappointment. We had high hopes because the location and view are excellent.
Was worried about this place since it's in the middle of the touristy area. Was pleasant surprise as the food, staff and restaurant itself. Portions were huge, BBQ pot roast was the recommendation from our waitress and I wasn't disappointed. Pulled pork sandwich was good too.
We read about this restaurant on Trip Advisor and decided to give it a try. This restaurant is located below Ghirardelli Square and was an excellent choice! We made a reservation thru Open Table. We arrived and were seated immediately. When we arrived the restaurant was almost full with a lively vibe. Our server, Thiago, was so helpful in explaining the menu and the different dishes. This is primarily a BBQ place. We ordered the Texas Style Beef Brisket – which was a brisket that was rubbed, salted and peppered, and slow smoked over Hickory and Apple Woods for 14 hours. It was glazed with their own special BBQ sauce. Corn bread, macaroni and cheese and French fries rounded out this dish. Oh my, it was huge and yummy. My husband was thrilled with the Espresso Burger – a half pound of Angus Beef chuck with an Espresso rub, bacon, blue cheese and garlic aioli on a soft egg bun. A large spring mix salad finished off the plate. We enjoyed our evening at The Pub.
Ordered the Texas BBQ Brisket- expecting to be underwhelmed. It was AMAZING- tender, smoky, (like go back AGAIN) DELICIOUS! Just the taste alone took me to a place few dining experiences do! SKIP the Brussel sprouts- they're a missed attempt at smothered collard greens- who really cares though when the MAIN dish SINGS the way that brisket did!
Reserved a table for 8-10 of my friends for the NCAA tournament. The service was great given how packed the bar was! They were so nice as well! It's sad that our Jayhawks lost but the place was in a beautiful location & the staff was so nice & always stopped by to see if we needed anything. Also, the BBQ is amazing, I had the beef brisket and it was great! Nothing like being here for the KU watch party and having some Midwest tasting BBQ!
