   Burger bun stale; burger very undercooked (blood in the bun…which did help with the staleness of the bun); food arrived way too quickly, suggesting the other entrees were “warmed up”…I could go on but no need as I won’t be back

   Enjoy the ambiance and convenience, unfortunately that’s not enough to get us to return. Our server was very nice, all the staff was actually, big smiles all around. Had brussel chips to start and a couple of drinks. Drinks were very good. I ordered the Miso Salmon; the veggies were so few… I received maybe 2 stems of asparagus cut 3 ways. Salmon was flavorful, I enjoyed that. My husband ordered Steak Frites - thought it would be a substantial chunk of beef. It was cut thin… like an 1/4” thin! and overcooked. A side of arugula that was just arugula. No topping, no dressing, just arugula. The fries were delicious. Including tip, we paid $165. Both of us agreed it wasn’t worth it. This was us trying The Proper again after having been disappointed prior. We’re certain of it now - not worth it. Drinks and apps… for sure!

   After a hard day's work, this is just a nice place to have a delicious drink and dinner and let cares slip away. Glen in the bar area is an awesome server - super nice and attentive. We are so very lucky that The Proper is close to our home.

   On our third visit to The Proper, the food has begun to disappoint somewhat. The fried chicken was served warm, not hot, and was heavily overbreaded and fell apart very easily making it unpleasant to eat. Both the potatoes and deviled eggs were so undersalted that we had to add our own, which is unusual for a restaurant of this quality. Also, I've noticed this issue at a lot of restaurants recently, but I think mashed (and even smashed) potatoes should be mostly creamy and soft, not chalky and firm. There are other ways to prepare potatoes if you want that firm texture. IMO.

   We had a very nice evening at the Proper. Jose, our server, was excellent. Our meals were fine, but the potatoes served the fried chicken were under seasoned and not hot. We were celebrating a birthday and were surprised that the dessert was not comped, minor but surprising policy.

    The Proper Restaurant is a foodie haven with fine crafted cocktails and amazing food. The only down side is the noise level, but that is a common sin in dining these days. A friend of mine suggested the Proper Restaurant several months ago as a possible place for us to explore and break out of our food and drink rut, and what a place it is for doing exactly that! The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food and drinks are excellent. To date the cocktails I have tried include the Black Manhattan, the Espresso Martini, and a dirty martini made with Hendricks. All were superb. The Miso Salmon and the Braised Short Rib entrées were also excellent, with well balanced flavors and portions that we large enough to be satisfying without leaving you too full for dessert. And if you are a chocoholic, the Molten Chocolate Cake is absolutely divine. I look forward to many more visits to the Proper Restaurant, if only so I can work my way through the rest of their menu to see how delectable their other menu items are.

    If you want to feel like your eating flavorful, unique dishes in a fancy estate dining room - The Proper is the place to go! I have been dining there for the past 6 years (minus COVID lockdown time) and I have always been happy with my experience. My taste buds are ofc happy too! Try them one day during their 4-6 pm happy hour, or during Taco Tuesdays :)

    I ordered soup and salmon. The salmon came out first. I told her I’d prefer the soup first. So she took the salmon away. When I was done with my soup, she brought the salmon back—cold. Very strange experience. And it was so noisy I couldn’t hear myself think.

    We just moved to the La Canada area and have eaten at The Proper several times and love it. The food is good, service easy and everything about it says “gastropub done well.” HUGE thank you to the manager who moved us from a tiny table meant for 2 people to a real table that seated 3 adults during a very busy St Patrick’s evening.

    This place has returned to being solid pub again. It was great a long time ago and has had a schizophrenic personality for the last 6 years. I'm glad to say it's been restored. The bar is pumping out decent drinks and the kitchen is much better than it has been.

    We like the place. Def one of the better places we’ve been to in this area that we’re new too. Not tired like most others. My wife got the salmon which she liked. I got the steak frites. Unfortunately the steak was not good. Half was fat and inedible the rest was overcooked medium well and dry. Was ordered medium rare so that was a bummer. We’ll be back but probs ordering the more simple items. Hope this helps!

    We had a reservation, had to wait a while for a table. Once seated, it took a long time for the server to come take our order. Food came out pretty timely. When we were done, waited a while for the check, had to ask another server for the check, didn’t see our server after that.

    Glenn and the other servers are exceptional at what they do, and, of course, Glenn’s cocktails are the best in town, bar none. Thank you Dustin for accommodating my request for a specific table. I really appreciate it. The Proper is a great place to entertain another couple for dinner as there’s some thing for everybody on the menu and superb quality at a great value.     In general, we had another very pleasant experience at The Proper. The one significant negative was that the salmon plate ordered by one member of our party featured a very small portion of salmon that was on the fishy side, with vegetable and mashed potato sides that were also on the tiny side.

    I like coming here for Happy Hour as they have yummy menu options to choose from. The burger is delicious and it comes with fries and a glass of wine. The cauliflower hummus is also yummy and I like the fresh guacamole. Their selection of wines and cocktails is great.

    The food was wonderful and the ambiance was excellent but our waiter really made the night perfect. He was a very hard working server and you can see he was hustling the whole time to make sure each of his tables was taken care of. I believe his name was Ernesto and we really appreciate him.
