Disappointingly, The Priory fails to deliver on its vast potential. Good location and great decor set the foundations for a great experience but the ambience was poor, even on a Friday night. Adding to the disappoinment was the poor selection of beers / lagers - in today's world a craft beer or two would make a difference! The food was ok - small menu but some good dishes. Again the little details separate ok from good - no dressing on the salad is minor, but simple to rectify. All in all an ok experience, but should have been much much better.

This restaurant was recommended, but we were very disappointed to find it empty but for one other table. We stayed as we had booked, but had mediocre main courses then had to send back the pudding as it was inedible. The toilets were badly in need of maintenance. This restaurant changed hands only a week ago but this is no excuse, it needs a good facelift. The background music was good but that was all, sadly, we will not be back.

We were a group of 5 men in for a nice dinner after some beer in the afternoon. The staff looked after us very well and the food and service were both first class. The only negative was that they had run out of some food items, drink and coffee after a busy lunch time.It was rugby international day, but really they should have expected this and the restaurant was not so busy in the evening. This is something they need to sort out in the future. Otherwise a good night and I would go back. Our waitresses were very easy on the eye as well. :)

The lunch menu was only partly as the published version on Toptable and was pretty much pub grub, not restaurant. Several of the things we expected on the menu were not on the one at the restaurant. On ordering fish and chis we were told the fish was all gone. Switching to chicken we were told that that was off as well. Oh well, what red wine do you have - Merlot or Cabernet was the response but there is no Merlot left!!! Then there was a delivery (2.30 by this time) and we got fish and chips. It was OK.

I booked dinner at the Priory Bar & Kitchen for 4 people at 8.30 on Saturday night - big mistake!!! We had not even sat down when the waitress informed us that there where only certain foods available for the main course on the menu - One to be exact and they could do us mussels as an alternative Disgracefull in my opinion!!! I own a small hotel and restaurant and cannot comprehend how this came about My party and I then left and had to find an alternative I would suggest that the kitchen and the management speak to one another and maybe in the future other diners would not be put in the position I was I am unable to rate anything for the Priory Bar & Kitchen

The bar has been done very nicely though the dining areas is stuck way up the back. When we went at 8pm Saturday night the bar was pretty empty so atmosphere wasn't great. We were taken to our table, there were a few people eating but we were placed on the other side with empty tables either side which was a little lonely and didn't do much for atmosphere!! They had apparently been busy earlier so several of the mains had run out limiting our choices. The food sounded and looked good when it arrived .... but it was a bit tasteless which was disappointing. The staff & service were good which was a positive.

Perhaps an off night but not a good first impression. Service good but food just ok. Starter good but main lukewarm and not very nice at all even after heating up.

Hello, my partner and I went twice to the priory and we had twice a very good experience. The food a la carte and the special Burns night menu were very well made with well balanced choices. The portion on the starters on the burns menu were a bit light but the rest was very tasty. But the one thing which made us go back was our waitress. I don't know her name but she is studying cinema. She is just AWESOME. Very professional and attention to details, she knows her food and wine which is unusual these days on hospitality... She is very smily and very pretty! Well, she knows what she is doing and got a real customer care skill. Thank you again to make us feel special and we look forward to see you again there. Well done.... A french guy!

Had been here before on an itison voucher (burger & cocktail) really liked it so easy decision to come back. Husband had the duck, he loved it. I never order fish in a restaurant but I saw a great review for the crispy cod and I was not disappointed, it was delicious, would recommend it 100%. My husband had the sticky toffee pudding which was great, I had the peanut butter cheesecake, I wouldn't order it again, I thought it was a bit dry, I think it was a baked cheesecake which isn't to my taste. Would like to see the burger on the evening menu. Had a lovely couple of cocktails too. Will be back!
