Cailifornia cuisine paired with truly excellent service, unique ambiance, hand crafted decor and outdoor/indoor dining year round are just some of the reason's why we've won "most romantic" and "best special occasion" restaurant.

Food and ambience were outstanding. Server was knowledgeable and friendly, though a bit slow. We sat outside and weather was typical San Diego, in other words perfect
Waiter was nice and knew his menu. Had the Thai salmon and Sea Bass. Food was great.
Choose a table in the Patio overlooking the fountain area.
The food was excellent, the service very attentive.
It is a very special place to dine.
Wonderful food and very attentive service. Love this restaurant!
The Prado is the ideal venue for delicious cuisine, good service and proximity to the Museum if Photographic Arts, the Old Globe, etc. Lovely setting.
We come here often when we're in the Park visiting the various Museums. This was special because our son was visiting from out-of-town. We had a delicious meal, fine service and a great time.
One of our favorite restaurants in San Diego - they have a great Tuesday deal now - 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for under $50. Great place for a special occasion or just a nice evening meal...
All 4 of us had really positive reactions; terrace well run; attentive staff throughout our stay.
Delish cheese ravioli and chocolate mousse cake, exceptional service and love the patio twinkle lights! Fun “date” night with my little nephew. 😊
It's a wonderful place to dine in the park. The food is good & service is very good.
Nothing beats the location and ambience of the restaurant. As we have been to the Prado many times over the years the food, although good, seems to losing some of its appeal. I had the sea bass with succotash and there wasn’t much flavor. My wife had the duck breast and we both felt the same way as the sea bass.
Always a lovely ambiance, enjoyed a lazy lunch at the Prado with family, a refreshing pitcher of sangria, a lemon risotto, soup and salad all delicious
Very run of the mill, touristy restaurant. The food was ok. The margaritas were TERRIBLE, I am pretty sure they forgot the tequila. The location is great, but unfortunately the value is just not there.
We had lunch during a Balboa Park visit and were very impressed with the food - wonderful flavors, beautifully presented! Our gluten-intolerant granddaughter really enjoyed the assorted skewers (so did I!) and my husband's steak tacos were delicious too.
There was only one GF item on the dessert menu, mascarpone flan, and it was a big hit as well. The original serving had been plated with a cookie on top - a big NO-NO! - but the server whisked it away and quickly returned with a fresh serving. Our granddaughter loved it!
We look forward to returning to try some of the other dishes when we're visiting again.
We had a gorgeous patio table with a beautiful view of the Japanese Friendship Garden! Hummingbirds came to drink from the feeder near our table as we sipped drinks! What could be better?
This was our first time at the Prado and we ordered from the Tuesday "Date Night" Menu, which included a salad (2 choices), entree (five choices), and a bottle of wine (5 choices) all for under $50 total (not including gratuity). We both ordered the iceberg wedge salads (excellent) and I ordered a wonderful ravioli with sausage, red peppers, blue cheese crumble and topped with a creamy bolognese sauce. My husband had the short rib, which he said were fork tender. We chose a bottle of red wine from Spain, which was the perfect complement to our meal, slightly spicy and yet, smooth. We ordered a dessert to share that was amazing...it was a brownie with layers of fruit and creme. Overall, the food was terrific, the service great and the ambiance wonderful. Dress at the Prado is California casual and it was nice to be able to head over from the Zoo and feel like you were entering into a whole other realm!!!
Service was very attentive; food was great; a lovely lunch!
We had another amazing dinner at the Prado! Our server was so attentive, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere is so wonderful! We will definitely be back!
My steak was OK. The three skewer appetizer was excellent. The margaritas were also excellent. The service was superb, as we had Devin serving us. I just expected more for a steak that cost $34
The Prado is a unique and classic establishment in San Diego. Large spacious dining areas on multiple levels both indoor and outdoor. Wonderful inner dining room area with marvelous decor and beautiful subdued lighting. Food is excellent with great seafood and turf dishes with a mixture of Italian and other dishes. Service and staff are attentive and always helpful. Balboa Park is a great place to roam around after dinner or lunch. Reservations needed. Parking can be difficult anywhere in the area the Park, but I normally can get a spot on the lower level parking lot on Presidential Way, and check parking spots out to the back of the Air Space museum.
Highest recommendation for the Prado.
The restaurant (inside) was uncomfortably cold the entire evening. The people at the table next to us were putting on heavy sweaters - they must have been warned. The other two in my party enjoyed their food. My sea bass was overcooked and the vegetable bed it was on was too sweet. The chocolate dessert tasted like it had started out frozen. For the prices, I expect better quality food.
Service was great, ambiance great. Food is too expensive for what you get. Combinations of tastes are strange. Quality is good, portions are smallish (enough food but not a lot) and price is way out there for what you get. We paid $230 for four people, including tip. We had four drinks, which added about $50 to the check and we shared two salads. One person had a salad and added a protein (salmon), I had another salmon dish, the other two people had ravioli. It was good but we felt it was a little bit of a rip-off.
We had a great table on the patio with live music in the background. Great food and good service.
Was not happy with my sea bass dish which was boring and bland
We love eating at the Prado. The outdoor seating is a very pretty area. The food is good and there are lots of fun things to try on the menu. We liked the many specialty drink options as well. The service was very good. They checked on us quite a few times and the food service was pretty speedy for a busy place. Beautiful location.
Amazing food full of flavor
Waiter was very friendly
Thank you it was a great birthday experience
It was very difficult for me to get open table to respond. Had to call 3 times for a response. Third time this has happened. I love this restaurant, service & ambiance.
We had our usual Prado anniversary dinner and as always it was a lovely dinner. A few nice new things on the menu. My salmon entree was fantastic. The server was very pleasant and attentive when though the place was quite busy.
Went there on Tuesday Date night - great value deal! Highly recommend! The place is fantastic!
My wife and I are theatre goers and The Prado at Balboa Park is really a convenient dining spot prior to a show. We are also foodies and would not go if not for the interesting menu, quality food and excellent service. Lately, we have been taking advantage of the Tuesday night "date night" promotion. Very nice and fun idea. One we hope to take advantage of more often in the future.
Absolutely a great venue to have lunch or dinner. Great menu and wonderful service. This is our 10th time here
Excellent food & atmosphere. Our server was outstanding!
He provided friendly & personal service & was very interesting to talk with. We always have a great time at the Prado.
The menu is tired. The service is ok at best. It seemed like we were being rushed. Our salad was served before our cocktails arrived.
Prado is our go to place for birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions
Good food with good value. Service a little slow but was attentive to our theatre time
Excellent food and service. Pricing is fair and reasonable. Highly recommend
Great table on the patio, our waiter Scott was fantastic his menu suggestions were right on.
Beautiful setting, excellent service and fantastic food. A wonderful dining experience!
Service was great, appetizer (Chile relleno) was delicious. Everything else was subpar - seafood linguine, duck breast, portobello salad, wedge salad - didn't finish anything except the portobello salad because I was starving and didn't want to take anything home. Would not recommend.
