The meal took much longer than we anticipated. We had to take our entrees to go to ensure we made our show. The server was friendly, I don’t blame him. We were seated next to an obnoxiously drunk couple who could probably be heard from across the restaurant. The food was really disappointing. We got the primavera soup and the vegetables were raw. The pasta dish was also very bad. My wife got the swordfish, which was “meh.” Likely won’t be back.

Prado used to be a favorite. Now not so much anymore. Limited menu, one meal lukewarm, the other overcooked. Atmosphere is still great but probably enjoy that without eating. Booked for Birthday celebration that went unrecognized.

Four of us went there for a special occasion. The fish was overcooked, though we asked for medium. The side dishes on the plate were a joke. Mostly corn with tiny (pinky fingertip) slices of asparagus, potato, 2 pieces of spinach. We couldn't taste the veggies because they were so small and overpowered by the corn. Salad was tasteless. Panna cotta dessert was pretty bad. The waiter cleared half the table and wiped it with a rag while two of us were still eating, disgusting. PS the cost was $300 with tip and only one person had a drink. Very bad

We sat outside on the patio. It was a beautiful day and the patio ambience was lovely. We ordered a bottle of presecco and the hummus to begin. The hummus was good but it was a little bland. We ordered the salmon and the sea bass and the goat cheese mash potatoes. All of it was somewhat cold. Both fishes were bland. We ordered the German chocolate cake and it was a very small sliver of a slice and not very tasty.

Overall this Date Night experience was excellent. Our waiter, Joshua, did a very good job inspite of being somewhat over burdened with the number of people in his assigned serving area. The food was very well presented and served well. Only one comment on the wine; the "Pinot Noir" was very thin tasting and was quickly replaced with the Merlot thanks to Joshua's recommendation. Please keep this Date Night option a regular on Tuesday nights. It is our one night most months we can get out for dinner. Please bring back the lounge and the humus and real flat bread (not the "crackers" presently available.

Fabulous location. Mediocre-to good food. Good service. They play the music low so you can't really hear the words but I found that quite distracting - instrumental music would be better. To me, The Prado restaurant is all about the location and sitting outside. I've not really had any outstanding food there.

Britney was awesome and well paced. We were not in a hurry and told her. My hanger steak was done “perfect” and not chewy! Dar had sea bass and was very happy with the fish and sauce. My AU gratin was different and delicious. Was baked and then deep fried for the crunch on the outside (I think).

Although their website advertised happy hour from 4:00 to 6:00 PM we were told that happy hour no longer exists. I overheard diners at a nearby table discussing a similar disappointment at what felt like false advertising. In the past, tasty bread crisps were brought to each table but no more. The menu seemed limited and expensive. We had appetizers which were very good but opted to skip entrees.

Eating inside in the hot weather was pleasant, but there is no advantage to having a window table--unless you really enjoy a sea of brightly colored umbrellas!

Always a pleasure to have dinner at The Prado in beautiful Balboa Park. A wonderful place to celebrate an anniversary! The staff is very considerate and asked us if we where catching a play at another jewel in the park: the world famous Old Globe Theatre. Unfortunately we did not go to the theater on this visit, but my wife and I were celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary, and when the waiter found out he brought us a delicious treat for dessert. We highly recommend The Prado in Balboa Park.

Hostess was very nice and seated us upon my arrival- I was 15 mins late due to heavy traffic. Service was very efficient and food was delicious, as usual. While we lingered past our meal European-style and were the last lunch patrons, neither the waitress nor the busboy pressured us to leave, which was greatly appreciated. I always look forward to lunches at The Prado!

Had a wonderful lunch with a friend on the back patio. Umbrellas kept us comfortably in shade so that we could enjoy the park on a beautiful day. The service was attentive, but not annoying. Food was great and reasonably priced. I hadn't been here in a long time, but it reminded me that we should come more often. The only downside is finding parking nearby, but if you don't mind a bit of a walk you'll be fine. It's Balboa Park, that's how it goes!

We has such a lovely lunch out on the patio. It was a beautiful sunny day in SD after all the gloom. We ordered a BLT Chicken Sandwich and Mai Fish Sandwich both were to die for and the fries that came with them were crisp and delicious as well. We also had the artichoke soup - chefs special for the day it was creamy and quit delicious as well. The server and bus boy were absolutely 💯 the best, friendly, cheerful and attended to all of our needs wish I remembered their names. I can't wait to go back!
