What a great moderately priced restaurant in the heart of Balboa Park. Beautiful surroundings, excellent everything.
The Prado is always a treat to experience!
We had an amazing meal, and the service made the experience even better. The staff were all very welcoming and accommodating. You really can't beat the ambiance out on the patio, either. Beautiful meal and experience!
Another Phabulous dinning experience! The Prado has always been one of favorite date night places. Excellent food, vibe and service!
Nice experience, but asked twice for more hummus and crackers and it never came despite waitperson acknowledging our request.
Very friendly and efficient service, even over a busy lunch hour. The seafood cakes and Cobb salad were fresh, visually appealing and pleasing in texture and on the palate. Wine was reasonably priced. The restaurant is a good choice for lunch.
It’s always a good idea to walk around Balboa Park. The Prado is right in the middle of all the museums and this week is great time to unwind after all the errands during SD restaurant week.
Awesome in every way!
Came for a midday lunch with coworkers during restaurant week. Service was lovely and the food was delicious—the mushroom risotto was perfect!
Beautiful surroundings and great food and service
My wife’s birthday was absolutely perfect
The was awesome
The server was amazing
Can’t wait to go back
Always enjoy a pre-show dinner at the Prado when taking in a show at The Old Globe. Attentive service and great food.
Ian was our server and he was awesome. He has been our server in the past and has always taken good care of us. He always makes sure that everything is perfect. We noticed he treats all the guests the same way.
The restaurant is one of our favorite
The service was superb and the food outstanding. We will definitely return.
We had a great time
The got us in earlier than our reservation and did an excellent job on the service. This is a great place.
This place is such a fantastic San Diego treasure! The atmosphere, food and service are just perfect for any occasion. The chopped salad is beyond delicious with fresh mango.
There was a private party in the courtyard so might have been louder than usual. Great setting.
The food was awesome, the service was great. They have a little bar area outside the restaurant it’s really cool place to have a drink after dinner, if it had some live band that would be great but they don’t.
I ordered a New York stake, it was very good.
I will definitely go back there again.
great food. beautiful atmosphere. Nice to be in the park
This was my first time at The Prado and it was a wonderful dinner for both my husband and I. Cocktails were yummy and the food was delicious.
Wonderful dinner Saturday night!! We were seated promptly at our reserved time in a quiet table for 4 inside and up the ramp. Service was knowledgeable and quick! 2 of us shared the beet salad and 2 the farmer's mixed greens. The kitchen split them nicely for us which was a lovely surprise.
My son had the risotto and his girlfriend the thyme roasted chicken. I had mussels which were listed as an app but for me they were plenty!! My friend had the chile relleno which she rated as the best she has ever eaten!!
We each had one drink(some wine, some beer and one specialty margarita)
We shared one lovely chocolate dessert and had cappucinos and mochas with them.
The food came out fairly quickly once we ordered and we had plenty of time to relax and eat before our show.
I was very impressed! I had expected a slammed busy atmosphere on a Saturday night but they did VERY well!!
Dinner on a Friday evening. There is valet parking. Seating indoors during the winter. Very nice staff and waiters. Wonderful atmosphere. Recommend reservations.
We celebrated a birthday and it was lovely. Our wait staff was perfect. She was friendly and efficient
and described the menu. The food was marvelous and I would highly recommend the Prado to a friend.
Museum tour with parents and daughter!
This might be the first time we've been to The Prado on a Wednesday—and even if the restaurant might prefer to be busy and full, it was LOVELY not to be in a crowd and to have the room relatively quiet. We chose longtime favorites—the potstickers, shrimp and filet, the paella, and the salmon—all of which were nicely done and promptly served. There was a mishap with a water glass suddenly breaking, and we were presented with a complimentary dessert to make up for it. Good going, Prado!
The menu was not as expected, especially for the 2020 special. The waiter was not clear on the special and even took our order without telling us one item was not included. We believe the waiter was having a bad day or is in the wrong profession. It was obvious he didn't want to be there, but we did not let it ruin our night. In the future we will just go to the bar and skip the restaurant.
My wife and I wanted to spend a quiet January evening in Balboa Park. We were going to saunter through an art museum and relax over a bottle of wine, dinner, and just talk. Life speeds by at 100 MPH and we always try to just connect every week at least once. The spoken word face to face does wonders for the soul and the Prado is just the place to connect on Tuesday nights. Mother earth must have known we needed some quiet time because she provided a warm January evening. We sat outside on the patio and were greeted by the friendliest waiter in all of the park. She encouraged us to view the date night menu which we did and were happy to try a new red wine from Spain which was delicious. As I sat there watching my wife in the warm light of the patio I was taken back to Mexico 35 years ago when we first met. The ambiance and the full moon rising helped us lift a glass to the moonlight as we dove into the most delicious repast. We thoroughly enjoyed our night in the park because of the Prado. The service, food, and the wine were just absolutely perfect. We will return. Thanks Prado for a most pleasant evening.
I was going to the park and had luch there. Place is okay
Our server was amazing. We will be back again and again.
Had a Wonderful Time. Deffently recommend to all. Food was excellent and there were all ages that were there. We may have a larger group sometime in the future.
Had a wonderful dinner with my family after a day visiting the museums. Service was top notch, got in on a sangria special (cheers) and had a great meal. I opted for the filet and shrimp special so I got a bit of both. My partner had the ribeye and daughter had the grilled chicken from the kids menu. The wait staff was so friendly, it made my night.
The Prado had a lovely ambiance - warm with deep, cozy colors. Scott, our waiter, seemed sincerely happy to have us there, and struck up a lively conversation. He went out of his way to mix our specially requested drinks, and was knowedgable and speedy. All the food was delicious. This is a place for celebrations. Very special!
Always a wonderful experience. Service and food exceptional!
Perfect evening to sit outside, we got seated right away. The food was delicious, service a little slow. We love this restaurant.
First time dining here and everything was amazing from the food to the service
This was our first visit to The Prado and overall I would say it went pretty well. The setting is really nice, service was very good and food was good but nothing to shout about. The Trio of Skewers and Lobster & Shrimp Potstickers were very good. My wife enjoyed her Paella and son said the New York Steak he ordered was well prepared. However the Beef Short Ribs were lacking in flavor, somewhat dry and a little more sauce for the mashed potatoes would have helped.
The Prado is always a pleasant experience. The ambiance is friendly and familiar and the menu choices are amazing.
