We love going to the Prado. We go there several times a year because we have season tickets to the Old Globe. The food is excellent and the staff is always outstanding!
Great ambiance and service and a nice window view. Paella was very good. The gnocchi was hard, and the sauce was not to my liking, but they comp’d the dish. That’s why I still give an overall 5 stars. I don’t eat here very often because of the 4% surcharge. We did have a nice experience.
I haven't been to the Prado in years, but I always remember the food being good. I would never go back for
Thanksgiving, the meat was rough, I have never had gristly turkey until now. My daughter at a couple of bites and was so grossed out that we gave her entire meal to a homeless man who was sitting right outside. All in all, my family was very disappointed.
Delicious family Thanksgiving meal, lovely environment and just quiet enough for good conversation.
As always tremendous food, great service and just a terrific atmosphere
The quality of this place has declined over the years.
Overall, this was an excellent choice. We had made a reservation and were seated right on time. The food was good, with interesting combinations of textures, flavors and ingredients. The most outstanding part of our dining experience though, was our server Kevin. He was attentive without hovering, and just seem to be able to pick up cues and anticipate our needs effortlessly. He was very pleasant and conversational as well. Kudos to Kevin!
Was a great experience, will definitely go back! We had a reservation and as soon as we walked in we were seated. Were greeted by our server and he went over the menu with us. Helped us decide on an appetizer and gave us some recommendations for food. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. Will be returning in the future.
A delicious dinner, beautiful and comfortable atmosphere and a waiter Tod that was absolutely excellent! He was so good that it took the whole dinner to another level. Look forward to our next visit soon!
Sometimes I go and just have a soup or a salad and then a couple of appetizers. This time it was the chicken tortilla soup, potstickers and calamari fries. I was stuffed!
Lovely venue and top notch service.
Service and setting were great. Food was mediocre. Price was as expected
Lovely evening, terrific meal, great ambiance in a beautiful setting. Everything I could ask for, plus our server, Beto, was a real gem. Will be back on our next trip to San Diego.
The Prado was busy for a Thursday night in early November, but nothing was compromised because of this: service was excellent (the waiter giving good food recommendations), ambience was pleasant, and food was fantastic (the calamari was some of the best ever and quite unique, my Chilean sea bass was delicious, and the others' pork chops were enjoyed)!
John was an EXCELLENT WAITOR. What a great place for lunch.
Chef is very talented and menu is varied and inventive
Prado is so convenient for theater goers but we probably will go elsewhere next time. Good service and my husband loved his filet and shrimp but as someone who eats fish or vegetarian only, I found the menu dated. Waitress did say they could change things to tofu or salmon/shrimp.
Staff are excellent at keeping you on track for getting to the theater on time.
The patio is terrific. Service and food were great and the wine prices were reasonable.
Anniversary-we got married in the garden 13 years ago today.
Great food and wonderful service. The outdoor dining atmosphere is beautiful. The wait staff is attentive and sensitive to the timing needs of playgoers. A great evening!
Always a great meal at The Prado. Our server, Michael, was attentive and friendly. Good food and wonderful service in a special setting.
A lovely night out-seated on outdoor terrace under the light strings, quiet and relaxed. Patrick took excellent care of us-food was excellent, as usual.
The Prado is a big favorite of ours and we were very pleased, as usual, Sunday night.
Beautiful, romantic atmosphere. Food left me desiring more. Steak had tough cartilage throughout and pasta was fair. Service was impeccable and we felt welcomed from the moment we arrived until we left. The blood orange margarita was delicious! I wish they had more appetizer options. My partner doesn’t eat fish and it seemed like it was mostly fish. Maybe through a generic appetizer would be great.
Food wasn’t that great. The ambience was excellent.
For those locals out there, this is a good time of the year to go to Balboa Park and the Prado. There was parking and the restaurant wasn't crowded and noisy!
Love the ambiance and the food; do not like the 4% extra charge. The food is pricey enough, and we always leave a note tip - so why do restaurants continue the extra 4% charge?
Service with Justin was impeccable. It was pretty loud inside but once tables cleared out for the Old Globe event it was quiet and perfect
We love the Prado! It has a romantic environment with great food and service.
Get the duck!! Short ribs are fantastic! Get Todd as server...ask for his section! Old Globe easy walk after dinner
The service was excellent but the food was VERY disappointing. The seafood linguine was fishy and gloppy, with very little seafood. The mushrooms and bok choy in the duck dish were finely chopped and buried in the black rice. The duck itself was nondescript. The only satisfying portion of the meal was the arugula salad. Overpriced and disappointing dinner experience.
Server was exceptional!
As a group of 6, everyone loved their dinner choice. Service was excellent, drinks were great. My only critique is that the menus are hard to read due to the plastic sleeve they are in. We all had to use our phone lights to read it. Aside from that, best dinner in a while and we will be happily returning. I’ll just study the menu before we go so I’ll know what I want to order.
Always good and convenient to the Globe . Patio a good option when weather permits.
Our waiter asked right away if we were going to the play at the Old Globe to be sure we had our food and drinks on time
The food was great. Service was mediocre. Dirty plates and empty cups left on our table for an eternity. They forgot to put our entree order in and never came around to check on us. We had to flag down the waiter and tell him to go put our order in. Not a fan.
Lovely lunch in eclectic surroundings but reserved outdoor seating and terrace wasn’t open. We were seated by the kitchen door. I guess someone has to sit there. Enjoyed the sparkling lemonade and fish tacos. Nice presentation and tasty combination but I thought the fish strips were tough . Excellent service.
Very nice ambiance and food was great . Very affordable with the Tuesday date night special. The waiter was very nice and allowed us to take the corked wine bottle to go .
Great place to eat before going to a play at the old Globe‼️👍🏼
