The Potting Shed is a place to meet, eat, drink, relax and chat your day and night away – where hanging plants, terracotta pots and timber beams meet brass, brick and iron. Where you can plant yourself down on the swing seat, bench or at the bar and feel like you are on your family’s porch.

It’s a lively place where you can hoe into fresh, locally harvested produce, delivered by our shed-hands. The same hands that will deliver you good-natured banter, craft beers on tap, great tasting wines and unique cocktails.

To park at The Grounds, please enter via 2 Huntley Street and speak with one of our friendly Grounds Rangers who are on hand to help you find the closest available space. Alternatively, street parking is also available.
Public transit
The Grounds is located a 10-15 minute walk from Green Square station, which has frequent services to and from Central station and the CBD. St Peters station is also a 20-30 minute walk away. Bus route 348 (Randwick to Wolli Creek via Green Square) and Bus route 305 (Mascot Stamford Hotel to Redfern via Waterloo) stops outside the restaurant. TO SHARE - Fresh mixed berries, with Greek yoghurt and crunchy granola pots. - The Grounds Bakery pastries, a selection of mini croissants and lemonade scones with cultured butter, raspberry preserves and whipped chantilly cream. - Freshly baked mango bread, with whipped coconut yoghurt and mango crumb. YOUR CHOICE OF ONE MAIN - Lamb Merguez Shashuka, with poached eggs, chilli oil, lemon labneh, roast eggplant, capsicum and flatbread. - Eggs florentine on a toasted muffin, with smoked salmon, poached eggs, wilted greens and hollandaise sauce. - Crispy green pea fritter, with halloumi, fennel and cucumber salad, scrambled eggs and herbed yoghurt. T&C's: - Semi-private dining with all guests seated at a high table. - Groups under 16 guests will share the table; 16+ guests enjoy exclusive use. - Reservations are for 2.5 hours. - Not available between 2:15pm and 4:45pm. - Guests aged 16+ must dine on the group menu. - Dietary requirements must be confirmed 48 hours in advance; we'll do our best to accommodate. - Cancellations require at least 24 hours' notice. - Capacity: 10-20 guests. - 10% service charge applies.A 15% surcharge applies on public holidays. - Styling and set menu may change without notice.

The Italian board had a delicious assortment of food that was very filling for 3 people. Would highly recommend it. The potting shed was a lovely very cozy and warm atmosphere to eat in that wasn't too noisy.

We’ve been here a few times and tonight’s dinner is the unfortunately a disappointing experience. To our surprises, food was either too small in portion or cold without much taste. Service was attentive and helpful. Overall ambience is suitable for group/family gatherings.

Disappointed with the seafood pasta which was supposed to have spaghettini according to the menu but instead was more like hokkien noodles in look and texture. The sauce tasted off and the seafood tasted like it was from a can or frozen mix and not fresh. The prawn entree which was supposed to have come out first came last after an almost 30 minute wait. We had to follow up with the waiter on the status as all the other meal items had come out. When the waiter came to ask how things were we informed her we were disappointed with the spaghetti she just nodded and w-walked way from our table without any word of ensuring our comments would be passed on to the kitchen staff. For $163 overall it was very disappointing. This was my second time in the potting shed and the food was also underwhelming last time. Seems like a pattern and a sign for me to avoid going back.

We were made to feel welcome the moment we stepped into the Potting Shed. Nancy was excellent. She guided us through the menu and laughed with us when we told her of our adventures.
