The food at The Porch is excellent with generous portions - unless you’re starving, you’ll need a left-over box! This visit we decided to order from the “Happy Hour” menu. We chose to get all three of the “$5.00 plates” and were amazed in particular by the sweet potato “tots”. They offer a good selection of local beers, “House-made” ice cream for dessert and very good - freshly brewed - coffee to wash it all down. Our server, Kimberly, did a great job too - thanks!
We were sitting on the porch. We heard squeaking and scratching. We looked up and saw 2 big rats looking down on our table from above. We told our server. She moved us inside and said she would let the owner know. No one from management or ownership stopped by to apologize.
The food is always good and the portions plentiful. The service is quality.
This has quickly become our favorite place for a family dinner. The food is beyond delicious and the portions are huge!!! Great flavor and great value!!!!
Food was great, nice server, great whiskey drinks
Good food, good service. The tables are a little small, especially if you are ordering drinks & a starter. Also, surprisingly warm inside for a Spring evening. Worth going.
Punch bowls are tasty and fun. Sides were terrific as were entree items. Server was excellent.
I had the bbq brisket sandwich. After hearing such great things about this restaurant, I expected something pretty special. Honestly, it seemed like shredded pot roast with bbq sauce. Quite disappointing. The cocktails were good, but very pricey for the quantity.
We went to The Porch for my daughters birthday. What a delight! Ask to sit on the porch—charming! Great beignets, delicious baked Brie. Wonderful service. All in all fabulous!!
Ordered a ton and it was ALL amazing!!!
Food was delicious and service was excellent. They let us stay for hous without pressure to leave.
It was wonderful. A little loud but overall food was excellent and service was attentive. Nice experience. Will be back
Good - The place is very cute. They did not seem to overbook on Easter. A common mistake with many places. Their drinks are amazing. Try the peach bowl.
Bad - Everything else. Service was slow at best, but he seemed pleasant. Food "ok". Really nothing special. beignets were OK, not a lot of flavor. Breakfast potatoes terrible. Barely cooked red potatoes, again not seasoned. The pork belly Benedict was TERRIBLE. First came incorrectly had to send back. Then there was hardly any hollandaise sauce with no flavor, the belly itself poorly cut, overcooked with again NO FLAVOR. Go for a casual evening with good drinks. Do not go if you want good, well prepared food. The Porch really needs to review their hiring choices in kitchen.
One of my favorite spots for breakfast! If you get a chance to try the chocolate chip cookie dough waffle - do it! You will not be disappointed. Their biscuits are to die for.
Great gathering of friends from the Bay Area. We were blessed. Traffic was overly heavy as we traveled from Walnut Creek and Fairfield. We were grateful that they still honored our reservation.
The food is always awesome and our server Nick is the greatest!
We’ll be back!
Everyone working there was VERY friendly and had some excellent recommendations for food and drinks. The shrimp po'boy, vegan chili fries, mimosa, and champagne julep were all delicious!
The food and whole experience was wonderful!! It was our first time there, and everyone was so friendly. The food was beyond delicious!!!
Butter served cold not at room temperature. Service and food are most certainly worth coming back for.
Fantastic food during the dinner service! I’ve eaten at the restaurant more than once, and eat downtown frequently, and absolutely loved the starter (grilled Brie), main course (buttermilk fried chicken plate), and service.
Great service! Tasty food and drinks. Would recommend to friends and family of southern food.
Waiter was great at giving advice on a starter. Great food. Loved the fried green tomatoes, almost as good as when my grandmother made them.
My girlfriend and I went for Sunday brunch at 9:45 AM and it wasn't too crowded. After 10:00 though it was filling up. The friend green tomatoes are off the hook! We also had the fried avocado scramble and shrimp and grits and both were delicious.
It was great! Food was amazing and the candied yams were to die for. I wish they played a little music because it was so quiet! Our server was great and very attentive. Other than that, great experience.
I had a get together with a friend who had heard about "The Porch." She enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and stated she would have to bring her husband there. The staff was efficient, the food was delicious and the service was commendable. I would visit this restaurant again.
We went on St. Patrick's Day after going to the Sacramento Theater. We had of course, corned beef and cabbage. The corned beef was a little tough, though very good otherwise. A little expensive. But it was a special occasion and we don't do it very often.
I had a reservation and they sat us in the very 1st table where all the hustle and bustle was and every time the door opened we were blasted with cold air. We noticed other tables empty and were confused why we were given this spot. The waitress was quite "ditsy" and took a long time to get to us and spoke "nervously" when we had questions about the menu. She did not give good recommendations and I did not eat half my plate. Some of the side dishes were great, seasoned and tasty, but the starter fried green tomatoes half was under cooked and not soft enough, the other half was done right. My plate of buttermilk fried chicken was HUGE I literally received half a chicken unfortunately it was terribly under seasoned and bland. They had a punch bowl type cocktail that we did enjoy and the bignets were excellent for dessert. Our ticket was $150 for two meals, a starter, dessert and cocktails. Not worth the money in my opinion. I feel this is a hit or miss restaurant. We dined here a year and half ago and it was excellent food. I feel they have lost some of the charm in the food and I certainly did not get the same service by a long shot. I would say try and dine for the comfort food, but I won't be going back.
Great southern-style food. Shrimp & grits are among the best I've had. Presentation and service are very good.
What a great meal! Our server was friendly & entertaining! The food was even more delightful!
Great food and cocktails, but definitely on the pricey side. The biscuits are downright amazing. Order them even if they don't come with your entree. The skillet cornbread and fried green tomatoes are my favorite appetizers. Shrimp & grits are legit Southern. The buttermilk fried chicken is the. best. They have beignets on the appetizer list, but they work better as dessert. If you eat them first, you will spoil your dinner for sure. This place can get super noisy when it's busy, but it's hard to predict when that will be. On a Tuesday evening in August it was packed. On a Sunday evening in March it was sparse. Don't go here and expect to stick to any semblance of a diet. The food is way too good for that!
Enjoyed brunch on the patio during a quick trip to Sacramento. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting town!
We have eaten here several times and always enjoy ourselves. The food and drinks are wonderful and the service staff is friendly and they go out of their way to make you feel at home. Some of our favorite items for breakfast: chicken and waffles, Biscuit and eggs and for dinner: fried chicken and shrimp and grits.... You really can't go wrong with any food selection though!
The food is always great. Vegan options are yummy and service generally good. It was pretty busy so server wasn't as attentive as usual, but that won't stop me from returning or continuing to recommend.
Stopped by he Porch after a play. Excellent service and beyond excellent meal.
We met friends who beat us there and were enjoying a drink at the bar. They chatted up the whole bar crowd because the atmosphere was extremely friendly.
We shared the fried green tomatoes which were really good. We had the burger of the day, Biscuits and brisket, shrimp po'boy, and the catfish benedict. Everything was great. The only problem was that there was a lot of food and it was too good not to eat. We are all still full 7 hours later.
Our server Debbie was super and we will be back. Next time we will share entrees.
Great food. Generous portions. Excellent service.
Creative, very tasty southern style food. Picked The Porch to celebrate a birthday after reading nice reviews. The staff was very friendly and attentive. A memorable touch was a personalized happy birthday greeting at the top of each menu handed out to our table.
Everything was great as usual, however we thought that the wait for our food was a bit lengthy.
What a horrible experience.Went there to celebrate my birthday and a night at McDonald's would have been better. My girlfriend specifically asked if there was meat in the cornbread, and if so,could it be left out.The waitress said it could be made with no meat. The second we cut into it,we could smell bacon. There were also chucks of bacon in the bread. We told the waitress and she comes back and tells us " the chef is trying something new tonight and didnt tell anyone." NOT COOL.Then we asked for the "meatless meatball," which we had seen on the menu online. We were told that menu was outdated and they did not have that. Then my girlfriend orders herself shrimp and grits. She takes a bite and her face looks like she has just bit into a lemon.I asked her what was wrong and she said her grits were so salty that she could not even them. After explaining to the waitress that the grits were inedible, she apologizes and takes the plate. She comes back less in less than two minutes and says," I am so sorry, the grits are NOT supposed to taste like THAT."While our server was as polite as she could be,her stellar service could not even save the HORRIBLE experience we had on Friday. It would have been good business to have the manager apologize for such a bad experience, but we didnt even get that. What a total letdown for my birthday dinner.
It was my birthday-
Took an older family member there for her birthday. The waitress was fabulous in recognizing the day and treating her special. The menu is very interesting and it was fun trying things we wouldn't see at other restaurants.
