This is NOT the place to come if you are celebrating a birthday. We were a normal party of 3, not a giant group and had one of the worst experiences I've had. Definitely the worst birthday experience. When I made the reservation on OpenTable, we told them it was my birthday and they had special menus printed up wishing me a Happy Birthday. And then they proceeded to seat us with the WORST server in the restaurant. I won't go through everything that went wrong... it's just too much. Some lowlights: I mention after we've been there almost an hour that we have a movie in an hour and she said... oh I'll get your check. No, we'd just like the rest of our food please.... she seemed surprised by this. Then when the food finally started coming out for the main course, it took then 7 minutes to get everything out, so the choices are to be rude and eat or wait and everything is cold. We repeatedly had to remind her that we'd ordered a second round of drinks.... it was at least 15 min from order to delivery. When the manager finally dropped the drinks off he apologized and said he'd take something off the check. When we finally found the waitress again to ask for the check.... nothing was taken off the bill. We mentioned the manager said he was taking something off the bill, she seemed surprised by this and I asked if I could speak with him. She came back with some items comped but the manager never showed.... surprise, surprise. The food was good, not the best I've had but not the worst either. If I wanted crappy service, we could have stayed in Davis.

Amazing. Great food. Fantastic service. And the mint julep champagne drink is sooooooo good. HIGHLY recommend.

I first ate here on Christmas Day 2012. In the 5 years since the menu and food quality remain constant and delicious! The buttermilk fried chicken is what I notice most people come in for. Why not? It is 3 pieces of plump, juicy chicken that is not even close to greasy. 2 of us got the chicken with different sides. I loved the beets and collards! Also the Gouda grits were amazing. I was not a fan of the mac & cheese fritters, but they did taste good (just too much fried with the chicken). One of my guests came all the way from San Diego to have the chicken! My other guest got the shrimp grits. Plump shrimp and wonderful Gouda grits. Before dinner we had the fried green tomatoes and the grilled brie. Both could be a meal in itself! You have to get there and try them. Excellent local and California beer selection, extensive spirits list and really tasty Old Fashioned! It was a bit chilly or we would have chosen to sit outside. Great view to people watch along K St.!

We went for Valentines Day! The fried chicken was amazing! The grilled Brie was delicious and our server was very attentive.

Service was very good, and the atmosphere pleasant. Shrimp poboy sandwich was quite tasty, with nicely fried shrimp and avacado. Beef stroganoff was underseasoned, and the partially shredded beef clumped together, making eating a challenge. The spinach-based salad was also so-so, with meat and cheese that didn't add much to the flavor and a bland creamy dressing. If you are looking for Southern food, South is a better bet.

As usual, the Porch did not disappoint. We had family in town and the menu offers lots of options they had not tried before. You have to start with the Fried Green Tomatoes! Every time I leave I swear I am going to get a whole plate for myself next time... Entees are huge, enough to share, which you will want to do if you want dessert. Go hungry - you will be glad you did!

We had great service and the food was incredible. Our waitress took extra care to meet all of our needs. My daughter has Celiac disease so requires a gluten free diet. Our waitress made sure to check with the chef for all items ordered. This is rare and made for a very enjoyable dining experience. We will be back.

Super good. I like to go to a restaurant where I can get well prepared food that I don't often cook at home. Because I cook at home a lot, that's not easy but this hit the mark. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Our meal at The Porch was one of the best meals I have ever had. It's a southern-style restaurant with entrees like fried chicken, shrimp and grits, etc. I had the fried chicken and it was fantastic. My only regret was that I didn't have room for all three pieces. The candied yams were mouthwatering delicious. We also got the cornbread and fried green tomatoes as appetizers and they were incredible. We also had amazing service. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We came to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a great experience! The service very good. We brought a birthday cake and the waiter immediately took it off our hands and kept it in the fridge for us. The server was pleasant and attentive. Our drinks and food came out at a good pace. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, shrimp and grits, and crab cakes. Everything was delicious...especially the biscuit! We would definitely return!

Brunch at the Porch was great! Our server gave us great suggestions for our entrees and cocktails. Celebrated my best friend's birthday and had a wonderful meal, can't wait to go again!

Fantastic service from Connor! Couldn't have asked for better. Checked on us throughout our brunch just the perfect amount.
Only thing that I was a bit disappointed with was that my breakfast dish was cold.
