   Marc and the team were so warm and welcoming. Max Bessesen Quartet was excellent. 5 stars all around. The Mac and Cheese was divine, the Fried Pickles delicious.

   The Porch is a nice spot for a date night or with friends. The ambiance was great and we got a chance to see a live jazz show, which I have been trying to go to for months now. I would love to go back again.

    I came out for brunch jazz and had an even better time than I anticipated due to the lovely humans who work at the Porch. I knew I'd love the music (it was fantastic) and the food looked great on the menu (it was - and they have solid veggie options), but what I didn't anticipate was the great service. Can't wait to return.

    We had a great time here. We got there at 11:30 AM and stayed for a few hours. Right though the live entertainment. We started w/ breakfast and drinks and ended with dessert and drinks, that’s how good it was. James was wonderful and although they were short staffed, we didn’t experience unreasonable delays.

    We arrived during the brunch to dinner change over and the menu had very few options. Not great for a picky adult diner. We were originally given the brunch menu and placed our order only to be told that we had to order from a different menu. The wait staff also changed during our time there and the second person did not check the bill before bringing it to us. It included all of the unavailable brunch menu items we ordered as well as the food that we actually ate. They corrected it, but not the best customer service. I’ll go back during brunch or dinner to give them another try. The staff was engaging and it seems like it’s a fun atmosphere during more busy times.

    Went for my boyfriend’s birthday and had a great time. Amazing band, great food, and just a great vibe. We’ll be back soon and intend to make it our neighborhood hangout!

    This is a great local spot! If you don't live in Hamilton Heights, it is definitely worth the visit and very easy to get to as an entrance to the 145th st. A/C/D/B station is right out front! Great food, amazing music. We love the outdoor space when the weather is nice as well. If you are looking for a quiet spot- then be aware there is often live music, but if you are looking for amazing local artists and delicious food, this is the spot to go! Great ownership and staff as well! Very friendly!

    My friends and I enjoyed our evening at the Porch. The jazz quartet was swinging and it was quiet enough for us to have a conversation. We didn't eat, but the Mezcal Negroni I had was perfect and my friend enjoyed her wine. My only complaint was that the two huge fans caused a bit of a draft, so the room was a little chilly.

    The ftomato soup and grilled cheese was really good. We also had spinach dip which was half the size of what it used to be. And we ordered a bottle of rosé that in the grocery store is $16 but we were charged 52 at the restaurant. A little too much of a charge in my opinion.

Also, our only bottle of rosé is considerably less than $56! Perhaps this was a review for another restaurant with a similar name? If so, would you please consider removing this review? We would really appreciate it! By the way, please come check us out sometime!! We have very healthily sized portions. :)

    Cannot charge people for music after the fact and then come to table eith separate charge machine and then add it to bill. Very embarrassing

As we announce at the start of our shows, and as is posted on our OpenTable Experiences page, there is absolutely no charge for music at The Porch. However, we are only able to keep music free through optional donations from our guests that go directly to the artists. Our servers visit every table to ask if anyone would like to make a donation. We are sorry that this was embarrassing to you and your party - that was never our intention and we hope that you will give us another chance.

    Get the full rack of ribs. They were delicious. Owner was very kind, came over and introduced himself, told us about the venue and more. Music was wonderful too, not too loud and I could still talk to my date. I will be coming back!

    Heard about this new place near us and took a look at their website to find that they were doing live music. New restaurant and live music? Awesome. The music started at 9:30 so we made a reservation for then. My partner and I walked and came in a few minutes past our reservation time. We saw that the restaurant was absolutely empty. Not a deal breaker, but the musicians, a jazz band, seemed a little out of place, playing to an empty restaurant. We sat, and the band was excellent. Our server, whose name (if my memory is right) was Charisma. And she was absolutely lovely. She took our drink order. There were no cocktails on the menu, which was strange since they had a rather large bar. We took a look through the menu. My partner is vegetarian, and we had taken a look at the menu beforehand to make sure there were options for them. Thankfully, there was an app and an entre. Another woman came up to the table to take our order, I’m assuming the manager, and we put in the vegan app. She said they didn’t have it in stock. Again, not a deal breaker. We asked for another minute. Then, charisma brought over our drinks. My beer was flat. She then told us that the jazz was ending early because there was no one there. Okay. The manager came back to take our food order again, said we needed to hurry since the kitchen closed at 10. I thought it was so odd that they would start an event a half an hour before the kitchen closes. We put in our food, the band stopped playing, and their playlist was pretty good. The food came and it was quite delicious. We tipped Charisma well since she did such a great job. I walked away quite perplexed, though, at a restaurant which clearly wants to be a live music venue that starts its music a half hour before the kitchen closes, with no cocktail program, and with no audience. It’s a shame, since the band played well and the food was great, but I don’t feel any desire to return. Perhaps we will order online, if they have their full menu.

Our typical timing allows for more music and dining together and I apologize that this was not the case during your meal. I will investigate to see what happened during your visit so that the issues with music timing/food availability do not recur. Regarding cocktails - we would love to offer them! Unfortunately we have been waiting 6 months for the license to do so - but just got some encouraging news. Any moment now!

    Attractive new place in Sugar Hill. We heard an amazing jazz band and had some delicious barbecued chicken and smoked fish. Friendly atmosphere and great service!
