   We have had a fantastic night in Griffin in Swithland on 20th of November 2018 Food was lovely, definitely for the meat lovers. Service was good and always with a smile. Very interesting starters and delicious beef brisket. Melted in the mouth. Definitely good for sharing...good size portions. Would I try it again... definitely yes... maybe langoustines and scallops next time. Thank you guys for an enjoyable experience. Best wishes Yulia.

   We usually love going to the Rutland and Derby, and were really looking forward to the pop up smokehouse. We were quite disappointed with our experience. We think we may have had a new server, which we understand that we all have to learn but the service was pretty slow, we had to ask for menus and catch someone’s eye to order more drinks. The crackling was so hard we struggled to eat it. The olives were lovely. We had the half chicken, the beef on brioche, the slaw and the mash. The chicken was really dry, although the flavours were really tasty. Slaw was ok, mash was amazing. We did feed this back to a server and she said she would feed it back to the kitchen but no apology from this. We asked about desserts and a different server said she would need to check what was left. Over 10 minutes later she returned but from where we were sat we could see in the kitchen and she was chatting in there the whole time. She let us know that the toffee pudding was all that was left. We ordered that, but when it came It wasn’t the praline ice cream as advertised but vanilla. And the sponge was extremely dry. We asked a server about this, and again a good 8 minutes later she returned and said that the menu had been changed the day before but hadn’t been updated. ( it looked like the person next to it had that ice cream) They took the dessert from the bill. We asked for the bill,but when it arrived we were over charged and it had to be redone. (not for the pudding but for extra small plates that we didn’t have!) Overall we would say some things were nice, others mediocre and others not good at all.
