Nice selection on the menu and flavours were lovely across all the dishes ordered. Good wine selection. Only gripe was the strong wind flowing through the open doors and we had to ask for one to be closed.
A lovely environment and a lovely meal. Really enjoyed the experience.
We have eaten here many times - and we have never been disappointed! Great friendly staff, food fabulous and the location is truly sensational! It is one of our favourites in the Bay and always recommend to friends and family. Thank you!
Lovely location, great food, catered well for a seven year old
Can’t wait to return
Food was outstanding, plenty of flavour. Probably too expensive for this area.
Great food, beautiful view and atmosphere- highly recommend
Never a let down and tonight the crew outdid themselves. The staff went out of their way to look after our requests. While it’s not a typical ‘kid friendly’ restaurant our children always feel welcomed here.
Thank you for making our special evening 'special'! The service was terrific and the birthday cake (gluten free) you made was fantastic. Our seating arrangement on the deck was spot-on. Thanks to Jasmine, chef and staff for a superb dinner. Warm regards Barbara
Beautiful food, beautiful view, lovely staff, overall a great dining experience.
Absolutely stunning! Amazing food and service. Can’t wait to come back.
My partner and I had the lemon meringue cocktail, white chocolate cocktail, sourdough appetiser, barramundi fillet with roast vegetables, profiteroles and salted caramel cheesecake. All I can say is wow! From the moment we walked in until we left the staff were extremely attentive and helpful; they regularly filled our glasses, provided us information about the menu, asked us if we needed anything and checked to see if our meals were satisfactory. One of the best dining experiences we have ever had. We will be recommending the restaurant to any family or friends that come to the area and we will definitely be returning in the future.
It has been a while since I are here. In the past 25 years I have eaten here about 8 times and it used to be our favourite restaurant in Port Stephens. The ambience and location are truly still the best but the food and value have declined. My husband had seared scallops served on a pork belly strip. He totally enjoyed it. My oysters kilpatrick. The oysters were incredibly small so that you lost the flavour of the oysters entirely. My husband had the coconut pumpkin with curry leaves and spicy puffed rice, which was very nice but far more like a starter than a main. I had the barramundi which was also tasty but not exceptional. The cheapest bottle of Chardonnay on the list at $50 had a markup over the top. With a very modest meal for two with a bottle of wine expect to pay between $200 and $300. I can say that the service could not have been better.
Great service. Beautiful view. Food was excellent. They catered for us so well for a late Birthday booking. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
Very expensive for the quantity and standard served. The seafood tasting plate ($28 per person) comprised of 3 soggy prawns, 1 scallop and 1 small circle of ceviche. The main meal (swordfish) was nice but overpriced at $42. The service was friendly and attentive.
Me and my wife enjoyed our time there, great food, great atmosphere and the service was excellent. Thankyou!
A great restaurant right by the water. The food was exceptional and the service was friendly and efficient. The barramundi main was the highlight of our meal but all the dishes were great. We’ll definitely dine here again next time we’re in Port Stephens.
Great overall dining experience. Beautiful scenic outlook.
Absolutely loved everything and the new menu is fantastic can’t wait to come back with my wife
Lovely food with gorgeous views, book and go at sunset
We wouldn’t know how to rate The Point. We arrived at 7.15 which we booked for on a outside table . There were no table available . So we sat on the outside lounge . Was offered water . Fifteen minutes later we are still waiting whilst looking at an empty table on the balcony . No water arrived no drinks were offered . So we left
I have dined at this establishment several times over the years and enjoyed wonderful experiences , however this was not one of them.
This time we were all very disappointed with the food ordered, we found it was overpriced and underwhelming.
Unfortunately, the usually lovely ambience was spoiled by a large group of VERY loud diners who were screeching and annoying not just us, but several other diners on the verandah.
We were particularly unimpressed with the Profiteroles for dessert - 3 small dried out offerings arrived on a large plate ( @$22!!!) with nothing but a sprinkle of sugary morsels and very finely grated white chocolate. To their credit, the staff were apologetic for the dessert and offered us a replacement, however it really wasn't much better than the first plate.
We all left feeling let down and sadly, will probably not include this restaurant in our options on out next visit to the area. :(
Overall :good service, lovely position but overpriced for what was offered.
Unfortunately our main was forgotten, so we had a wait of over an hour. The entire was delivered speedily. Other guests's mains were served before ours, even though we'd ordered well ahead of them.
And my roasted vegetables (carrots) were lying in oil when I got to the bottom of the beautifully arranged 'stack'. Not so good.
Very friendly but ‘amateur’ staff. Basically way too expensive. Sydney prices but not Sydney quality.
We went to the point for a birthday with a group of 9. Three people ordered fish on our table and all fish were raw.
After a long wait for the meals this was extra disappointing the fish had been cooked for approx 10seconds.
There were no apologies from the manager or compensations for this. Even upon payment when they asked how everything was we did mention the fact three people didn’t eat and due to the restaurants mistakes and still nothing.
Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, it is overpriced for the service and food.
The food took 1.5 hours to arrive & it was cold. It wasn't a busy night either
Food nice but not extraordinary
Service really good
Overpriced and as a result not in a hurry to go back 🤔
Great sunset location. Amazing service and delicious food!
Lovely sunset view, delicious food. Staff really lovely to our young children too to make it a lovely evening out
Beautiful setting. Some choices on menu not available. Two choices of wines not available and waiter actually forgot our order and brought us wine that we didn’t ask for - told us the one we asked for wasn’t available as they were developing a new wine menu?? Main meal was delicious and beautifully cooked. All food brought out really promptly. Wait staff I think needed sharpening up. Took ages to be asked if we would like dessert. It seemed like staff were rushing to clean up to finish up quickly even though the restaurant wasn’t really crowded. For a restaurant at this lovely setting and prices somewhat above average I think the service could definitely be improved on. I would still recommend as the food was lovely.
The venue was lovely with amazing views over the sunset. The service was very good.
The menu had enough on it, but not so extensive that it was hard choose a meal.
The dishes were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.
