The Point Restaurant & Lounge
With an emphasis on a seasonality , guests can tuck into some shareables like the crab cakes served with an ancho chile remoulade or one of the chef’s seasonal pizza specialties. Of course, the entrées at Point Restaurant & Lounge are not to be missed like the strip steak or a pan roasted salmon with Cajun seasoning.

Everything was great. Service and food was enjoyable
We were a large party, but seated right next to live music and could barely hear each other. Specials sounded interesting, but were no longer available when server took the order. The food, once correct, was good. Service was spotty and slow. Incorrect temperatures on the steaks ordered, the round of drinks removed for the inconvenience was appreciated. Drink list was extensive, but quality of cocktails was inconsistent; I assume the recipes were not followed by all of the bar staff. There are a lot of positives (good menu items, creative cocktails, friendly staff), but each was marred by execution errors.
Pleasant atmosphere (weeknight low crowd level). Excellent food and great service.
Wait staff pleasant. Food was mediocre. Don't go out of your way
We consider The Point as our neighborhood special occasion place. Birthdays, out of town company, holidays, anything to celebrate, we go there. They always have a great cocktail list, wine and beer selections. The menu standards sandwiches , pizzas and salad are excellent for a light dinner. A full menu is also excellent. I recently had their version of surf and turf, streak with lobster mac and cheese. It came with roasted asparagus. I took the mac and cheese home it was very good the next day. They have a big cake dessert which is wonderful to share with a group.
Food & wine reasonable priced. Good selection of choices including salads, sandwiches & dinners.
Our server Dominic was great. He was managing several tables but did not rush us, was polite, attentive, efficient and very personable.
Good food at a good price and portion sizes are also good. Another plus, the kitchen is open late.
Great food great service! Awesome spot for date night :)
The whole staff made our Anniversary memorable! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great!
The food and service was excellent. Very noisy. Tables a bit too close together.
We all liked our food. Could have been a little quieter.
It was our first time eating here, we were seated in the upper dining area which had just been painted (and unfortunately still smelled like fresh paint.) Our waitress took quite a while to get over to our table and when we asked about happy hour drinks she responded, “I don’t even know what time it is” (it was almost 6pm so I wanted to be sure we still got the price.) We ordered our food and shortly after another table was seated next to us, with a different waiter who explained in length the specials, which we were not told.
The food was great, we had risotto balls, house salad chicken Marsala & Picatta. We tried their homemade zepoli which were delicious. Overall, I’d go back because of the variety on the menu and the food, I’d just hope to get a different server.
Food was outstanding! Mushroom risotto with truffle was superb. Blue Gorgonzola gnocchi was super flavorful. All starters were excellent, the Brussels sprouts were delicious and a unique spin on something becoming a mainstay app. Staff was friendly and attentive. Overall excellent experience, we will be coming back.
Nick the manager was absolutely amazing and always is so accommodating to my party
Good place for decent food. The salmon on the salad was nicely grilled but way too salty. And the salad dressing tasted like it came out of a vat, not homemade, not good. Burger and fries were better. Waiter was very attentive.
Wonderful !! Server, food, drinks and dessert were all great ! DEFINITELY will go again
Friday night visit, quiet at 530, loud at 630. So if you're looking for a quiet, romantic date, I'd go early. If you're ready to unwind and TGIF it up, definitely the place. Staff was friendly & cordial, all while being very professional.
Another great evening at the Point. Enjoyed some usual favorites and one of the specials - perfect evening out with family.
Great atmosphere, great food.Nice introduction to Albany.
This place rules!! Beautiful inside, great food, vegan options, and awesome service!
Really good food and service, with the exception of the hostess. I don’t appreciate getting a “no show” notice from Open Table when we did in fact attend our reservation. The hostess was informed of us having a reservation and did nothing to acknowledge it. We will go back, but be sure we have the hostess check us in properly.
Food was excellent at a reasonable price. Staff was wonderful. Will definitely be back.
Great fun for a Friday night out on the town! Generally really busy so be ready for a bit more fun, laughter and crowd-noise - great crafted drinks - thanks Elaine!
The restaurant has a neighborhood vibe that is welcoming. The wait staff is responsive and friendly. The food arrived promptly and hot, and the portions are very large. Overall a good experience.
excellent food, drinks, and service. 9/10 would go back. (lost a point for being overpriced)
It was very busy Saturday night, however service was still great. The wait staff was very apologetic for the wait (which wasn’t very long) and the food was delicious.
We ordered the eggplant stack because of the rave reviews and it didnt disappoint. Our entrees were the Mushroom Risotto and Mushroom Flatbread and they were both delicious. Unfortunately our waiter Dom was not very attentive and we had to ask for silverware and plates as well as for him to refill our water, even though he had refilled water glasses at other tables nearby. If you get a better waiter we would recomend you going here
Soooo ... we made a reservation for 5:30 PM. I believe they may have had some staffing issues, because by 7:10, our food had still not come out. We had to cancel the food because we were going to be late for our concert (the cab was waiting). We probably should have just sat at the bar, because people who came in after us were well into their second drinks before they even brought out our first. Cocktails were good (they bought our first round), and I did get my mussels appetizer (which were decent). Most people would likely have stomped around and given a one-star review, but the staff was really nice. My girlfriend and I don't get out of town very often (we are from Vermont), and the ambiance and cool staff in no way ruined our night. We ended up getting Papa Johns at the concert. We would go back, but we would likely sit at the bar, or be a bit more pushy to get our food and drinks.
Our server was great! He recommended a Barrier Brewing beer and it was one of the best beers I’ve ever had!
Food was tasty, but make sure to request they put salad dressings on the side and go easy on the sauces for dinner dishes... everything was swimming and it took away from the meal!
Excellent service. Thank you, Dominic. Good choices. We liked individual pizzas and small plates. Tea selection was nice too.
2nd time I have been here. It’s my new favorite place. Amazing cocktails, food was yummy and I love the atmosphere. Highly recommend
We went on a Thursday evening for drinks and dinner. The drink menu has a lot of creative creations - my personal favorite was the Queen Bee! A really pretty place with exposed brick wall behind the bar and the right ambiance to be able to have a conversation without shouting.
The food menu sounded better than it tasted. We shared risotto fritters and crispy artichokes. The risotto fritters were bland and did not have enough of the eggplant caponata nor cheese. The artichokes had a heavy coating that obscured any truffle flavor. For my entree, I had the mussels fra diavolo and was surprised to find them buried in a layer of french fries. If that had been stated in the menu, I would have asked to leave the fries off.
I would definitely return, if just for the drinks.
Great service and food in a cozy atmosphere allowing for wonderful conversation. We had reservations(not needed that rainy Tuesday night) and sat at high top bar area.
Stopped in on a Sunday night for dinner - waitress was excellent as was the food. Really no complaints and dinner companions enjoyed it also.
Happy hour is great-- great value on drinks and appetizers. The servers were very accommodating to give us a different table when we arrived, though when we "overstayed" and some of our party had left, they did ask us if we could move. It was fine, but we had to move a lot of stuff and it was awkward if not difficult.
We absolutely loved our date at the point! Our cocktails from the cocktail menu were a perfect start to the evening. We started with the sautéed greens which were unbelievable!! Sooo delicious! We each had a pear salad which was the perfect size and very flavorful and then my husband had the clams pasta and I had the seafood special. Both of our entrees were cooked perfectly and we were amazed at how delicious they were! The service was fantastic and it will be our new go to. We told all of our friends how awesome it was an plan on going back next weekend!! Thank you to Nick for his excellent attention to detail and really making sure everything was perfect!
We ordered the filet and the salmon with risotto cake and carrots. The filet was not cooked the same throughout and the salmon was over cooked. The risotto cake was flavorless as was the carrots, even though there was seasoning in and on the food. We also had the housemade meatballs with polenta fries and they to were flavorless. If we go back again we may just stick to the pizzas and burgers, which are usually tasty.
