A friend and I made reservations on a Saturday, early evening. Although the patio was filled, inside was not as busy. We were seated and after waiting over 15 minutes to be acknowledged, I got up from my table to find a waiter to come by and take our orders. After contemplating leaving and waiting for another unknown period of time for drinks(as the waiter didn’t ask for our food orders before rushing away), we decided to relocate to the bar as service seemed faster/more reliable. Thankfully, the bartender made our initial subpar experience great. His attentiveness & friendliness allowed for my friend and I to enjoy our time. I understand COVID has taken a hit on the restaurant industry but two people waiting over 20 minutes to be acknowledged is ridiculous.
Food was excellent - service was lacking - Very long wait for drinks, 45 minutes between appetizer & entrée.
Easter brunch. Made 10:00 reservation for five which included a six year old. The restaurant was set up nicely and a manager-type individual was scurrying around straightening things, but totally oblivious that our family received no service beyond our drinks from the bar which took 10 minutes or more. At the time, there were only three other tables! Once we ordered, it took about 40 minutes until we were served - cold food. During the long wait, my daughter-in-law had to take my very hungry grandson outside to keep him occupied while we waited. Have you ever eaten cold eggs Benedict, cold homefries, or a cold hamburger with egg? Asked twice and waited for condiments? Needless to say, will not be returning!
We waited a long time for drinks and the food and the food was beyond cold! Worst dinner in Albany
We had an AMAZING Dinner at the point. The service was impeccable and their new menu is (no pun intended) right on Point! ;) Highly recommend for anyone who wants some great drinks by some of the regions best mixologist. Order some of there Brick Oven Pizza with their own home made dough...'my cousin Vinny' was really good!
Always love The Point!! Menu changes but food was equally as delicious . Will continue to return. A safe dining experience during the pandemic. No worries
Love this place. Can not wait to go back next time.
It was the best valentines we have ever had! Amazing food, great service!! Can’t wait to go back again
Delicious cocktails and food. Great service and ambiance.
Great food but a little pricey
Amazing food and top notch knowledgable staff. Easily my new favorite spot along with my girlfriend. We can’t wait to be back in a few weeks.
Delicious food and fantastic gluten free options !
We celebrated my husbands 50th at The Point. Nick and his staff were top notch, excellent service and food. Very accommodating. Thank you so much.
There were cobwebs (and a dead spider) on the shelf right next to me which made me not want to eat once my meal arrived. I was then questioning the cleanliness of the entire establishment.
Excellent service. Felt very comfortable with social distancing in place. And tummy food and beverages!
My recent experience at the Point surprised me. I had been there before and loved the food, service, and everything about the place. This time it was not that great. We walked in and could immediately tell there was a stench in the place. Maybe sewage? Only when we got our food were we able to focus on something else. Our service was a little strange. I think we had two separate servers which sounds like a good idea but it was rather confusing. Multiple people asking us what drinks we wanted, and confirming that our food tasted good. Everyone knows that questions is irritating enough with a mouth full of food, but twice? Oh and we didn't get a bread basket. Our food was actually pretty good, but overall not impressed this time!
My girlfriend had her small wedding ceremony at The Point! I was in charge of decorating the spaces. From Sabriana, the event planner, to Nick, the general manager to all the staff, it was a wonderful experience!! Everyone was helpful, friendly and great to work with! The wedding was beautiful, my girlfriend was so happy, the staff made us feel special and it was an amazing night for everyone!
The food was fabulous! Started off with bread and garlic oil...awesome! We had a salmon dish, a chicken dish (Panzaenella?) and a salad with beef (sorry I don't remember the exact names). We were asked if we wanted take home boxes..we finished every bit of food! It was so good! And the wine we had with our meals was perfect! We had questions and the server answered all questions and made suggestions. It was an evening I haven't had in a long time due to COVID. The staff wore masks. We wore ours until our food started coming. I could see how they were keeping everything clean and made sure to have everyone social distances.
Would I recommend The Point!! Definitely!! The atmosphere, staff, food and experience were perfect! I could go on and on about our evening!!
Thank You to Everyone at The Point!!
They did not turn off their reservations - so I booked only to drive there and have them not be open for dinner.
Staff was above and beyond for us. We absolutely loved everything about it here and will be back.
They were closed! How can a restaurant except a reservation and then be closed due to COVID and not contact it’s customers.. not happy
We enjoyed an evening dinner on a Saturday evening. We had an outside table which was quite enjoyable. We both ordered salads with chicken added. My only complaint was the dressing was very skimpy for the size of the salad. We both enjoyed what we had. We would go back.
Always love The Point. From food quality to service it is the best spot to have a night out. Live music on Fridays, too!!! Can't beat it.
While visiting our daughter who attends college in Albany we had dinner. We sat outside and enjoyed the live music. The food was outstanding. Our waiter was very attentive, and the prices were very reasonable. Would definitely recommend.
We were seated very promptly. There was a delay in our server coming to the table. Restaurant was not crowded, so not sure why. Our server didn’t come back to the table after our meals were delivered until we were almost finished. We had ordered a second round of drinks when our meals were delivered, but apparently the runner doesn’t have the capability to enter that into the system & it wasn’t communicated to our server. These drinks became our after dinner drinks.
Great Valentines Day dinner with my girlfriend. It was a busy night but everyone was enjoying their time. The ambiance and decor is amazing. Service was great. Will come back da
We had a lovely Valentine’s dinner. The food was very good and excellent service, as always. This was our second Valentine’s Day here and we would definitely return. The place was quite busy (as expected) but we never felt rushed or like we were crowded amongst other couples.
The food wasn't mind-blowing but certainly good, and it came at a reasonable price and with great service.
From the looks of the listing, to actually arriving I did not have much expectations for an outstanding experience. The decor leaves a bit to be desired. We were dining for Valentines Day and were placed in a cold room with six high top tables with one other table occupied. It was a bit awkward at first as noise carries quite far inside the room. The menu was a 3 course option. Most of the appetizers were seafood. That section of the menu could use a bit more variety. The main courses had pretty good variety but only one vegetarian option. I was surprised at how great the food actually was! Our server was very friendly and gave us plenty of attention. Overall I was quite surprised at how well I enjoyed the quality of the food.
We were a party of 6 we have all eaten here many times before always enjoyable. Out of 6 5 of us didn’t like our food either over cooked or just bland. App ‘s we’re fine. Drinks good except mine way too much alcohol I couldn’t drink it gave it away
This was my birthday dinner and we had an amazing time. The food was hot, steamy and tasty.
Everything we ate was delicious. The chicken parmigiana was very tender and melted in you’re mouth. The drinks were very creative and delicious.
We brought old friends to see how great The Point is. So we asked to sit away from the bar where we could talk. Unfortunately we were seated in a room with a loud, raucous table. We did speak with the waiter and a manager. They apologized and took off a percentage of the check . We have dined at the Point many times and loved it.
The manager was very apologetic. We will return to the Point again
Good food service very good but busy cause of holidays
We got stuck by the bar even with reservations so be careful
Of that if you don’t like high top seating
One of the best restaurants in the Cap. Region! The food, drinks, service and management were top notch! The icing on the cake was the live jazz trio (I unfortunately forgot to ask for their name). One of the best burgers I've ever had anywhere! The brussel sprouts were over the top too. Make sure you ask for the trifecta: Laurie (waitress), Darius (chef) and Nicky (GM) and I promise you will not be disappointed. Ps. Great happy hour and drink selections too! Oh and dont forget to order the Big Cake (strawberry shortcake) #ToDieFor
Hubby and I will be adding The Point to our local dining rotation. Only have one complaint, parking is a bit of an issue. But totally worth driving around for 10 min searching for a space.
Three of us ate dinner, first time there for all of us-all food was delicious! Service was great and prices were very reasonable and we will definitely return. Manager was very attentive checking several times with us on how we were doing!
Nice neighborhood spot! Flies under the radar but reservations recommended! Excellent food, service and ambiance! Can't wait to get back there. Thanks Kate and Nicolo!
Had another delicious meal at The Point! well point oysters, yum, burrata tomato appetizer was delicious. Also had a dinner special, the halibut over spaghetti squash, spinach & other veggies, very good. Huby had the pork chop and it was also very good.
Great bight and waitress was super.
The food was excellent and the waitress was nice. We should not have sat for 20 minutes before having a beverage from the bar. It wasn't busy at all.
We've been going to the point for a few years now. The food has always been mediocre at best. We kept going back because we wanted to give them the business and hoped for better. After our last visit we will not be going back. We ordered 3 sandwiches. The blackened salmon sandwich was over seasoned (way too salty). The bread for the chicken sandwich was hard as a rock. And the eggplant sandwich was tasteless. The only good thing we had was the brussel sprouts app.
