Beautiful location and food. The service is excellent and that makes all the difference when there are so many restaurants to choose from. Thanks.

The most unusual menu set up. It was a set menu for 2 or 3 courses, but then you could add on, at a cost, sides, an appetizer or if you wanted a steak. Therefore if you wanted a steak you had to add on the cost (i.e. $40) on top of your meal cost! It was very strange. The drinks cart at the start was great.

The Point is pretty fancy. It was quiet when we were there, with perhaps 10 other dinners there, I assume that on Fridays and weekends it would be a bit busier and perhaps a bit noisier, but I can't imagine it ever gets too loud in there. The atmosphere is quiet and elegant with views out over Albert Park Lake - once its dark these views aren't as good, but there are still city views to take in. The food was excellent although the menu could probably be described as little limited especially if you aren't into seafood. The desert menu could probably do with an update that doesn't involve just adding weird flavoured sorbet or popping candy to 70's style deserts, but that's a seriously minor niggle and most people would be very happy with the desert selection. The service was mostly excellent except for the fact that we were still waiting to see their extensive wine list when our mains were served. So by the time we'd finally received a wine list and made a decision our mains had gone a little cold. Obviously this was sub-optimal, honestly I probably should have dinged them more than 1 star because it did seriously ruin the whole flow of the evening, however the rest of the service was great so I'm hoping it was a one off oversight and not a regular occurrence.

Excellent service. Staff were polite, professional and had good knowledgeable of menu. The food was well presented with creativity and attention to detail, and taste was good. Very extensive and quality wine list. The restaurant has lost some of old charm and character (with half dining space now set up as a different restaurant - same owner) and was lacking some atmosphere - some classical piano or light instrumental music would help. Nonetheless we enjoyed our evening. Staff service was really good.

The service was impeccable; attentive but not intrusive. Both the waiter and sommelier were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. No snobbery. The food (we had the 7-course degustation with matching wines) was interesting without being outlandish, and tasty. The various courses made an enjoyable progression, and the wines were well-matched. We were asked about pacing of the meal, and the timing worked well - enough time to enjoy each dish and wine, and chat a little, but neither rushed nor wondering whether we'd been forgotten. Every dish was attractively and appetisingly presented. We went for an anniversary, and it was eminently suitable for the occasion. While we wouldn't go frequently, we'll certainly return from time to time. We don't have photos to upload, as we preferred to enjoy the meal and each others company rather than take photos of the food.

Had a birthday dinner for my wife at The Point and tried their course menu. Everything was very original, delicious, and beautifully presented. At the start of the meal, I asked if we could change tables to optimize our view of the lake, and one of the team members had no problem with it—he helped us move. We had two small kids with us, and the team treated them well. I was able to take kids outside before the food was served to get their energy out before they settled in. The restaurant is at one of the best possible locations in Melbourne for atmosphere / view; the interior is well designed, with music & lighting to match. This is easily the best food I've had in Australia so far.

We’ve been to this restaurant before the change of management to Chinese owner 3 years ago. Unfortunately we weren’t aware of the change until we arrived at the restaurant. The view of the lake is excellent, the food better than average, the service attentive. What made us regretted coming here for the Chinese New Year Eve dinner was the portion of the food. The main dishes were only half of the portion we had here before and half of the portion of a similar dish served at other restaurants of similar caliber. For a small entree and a small main course at a set price of $65, we thought it’s a rip off. Won’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.
