Excellent Sunday roast, wonderful / attentive staff, lovely surroundings, great log burner, highly recommended five stars from me 👍
A very pleasant pub environment albeit somewhat muted because of the current Covid 19 regulations. ( But this is not The Plough's fault. ) The food was good, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was both professional and friendly.
Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!
Delicious food, friendly staff. We will definitely be returning.
Really wonderful experience. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. We sat next to a gorgeous roaring fire on a cold day. Our food was absolutely faultless we asp enjoyed our first meal out after lockdown
Thanks guys
Great locally sourced food and brilliant service.
Nice fish and chip lunch here, they were very understanding that 2 year olds are not fond of sitting at the table, great staff
Perfect, helpful friendly staff. Good food and dog friendly.
Great place to eat or just pop in for a drink. Staff very friendly and welcoming.
The food is very good and plenty of it.
Delicious Sunday roast and friendly staff - would definitely recommend!
We had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch and highly recommend it
Fantastic food . Great service . Brilliant location . Loved it!
Lovely staff, lovely food, lovely pub. Thank you for helping us have such a fun few days.
Special mention of Kurt, who was really friendly and very knowledgeable about cocktails and English wine. He helped to create a very nice atmosphere in The Plough, which must be challenging in times of social distancing and limiting customer numbers. It had the feel of a real local pub but, as visitors, we were made to feel very welcome. A real shame there is a 10pm curfew, it seemed the perfect pub for a lock-in!!
We ate in one night and ordered take out a second night as food was so yummy (veggie haloumi burger and great chips & coleslaw). The Plough also provided a sumptuous breakfast delivered to our door (we were staying in the quite extraordinary 'Extraordinary Huts' just down the road).
The combination of The Plough and Extraordinary Huts is a recipe for a return visit very soon, we really had a great time. Thank you.
Amanda
The Plough is ok, not great but then not bad! The chap running the bar and the diners worked incredibly hard and frankly could have benefitted with an assistant.
We both had burgers which were pretty good ( can’t really go too far wrong). The crumble pudding was large and very tasty.
Shame that they didn’t have all items on a smallish menu actually available.
COVID hasn’t helped. Tables are spaced out so it’s a bit like eating in a barn. The menu is limited.
Still, we would go back - great service, good food and overall a reasonable evening out.
Had a lovely roast dinner here with the family would 100% return when in the area again!
Hey lovely country location with excellent parking friendly welcoming staff. Good social distancing yet maintaining the ambiance of a lovely country pub.
The pub was lacking in any ambience (perhaps some background music would be preferable at this time, as the pub was very quiet). We ordered Sunday lunch, my husband the sirloin beef, and myself the belly pork. Whilst the size of the meat portion was good, both lacked any special flavour. What would have made the meal would have been to increase the vegetable portions - the carrots and spring cabbage portions were inadequate and buried under the meat and gravy. Roast potatoes were good, and enough of them. The waiting staff were friendly.
Terrible food , such a shame as normally very good
Always a lovely place to come.. food is constantly good and the staff lovely and friendly and welcoming... definitely recommend
Warm welcoming pub with delicious food and lovely views, very accomodating of our 2 year old. Wish it was my local!
Food offering is really good. 25% discount particularly appreciated.
We weren’t offered a drink when we sat down and service was slow. From a limited menu 3 mains were off at 7:30 limiting the choice in my case to one main. Burger was small especially for my partner. Overall food was good but we were already less than happy. Even more so when a group of men stopped to chat to our neighbouring table and stood between us violating social distancing rules. Staff seemed to be ok with this as they were locals.
Walked in to smell celeriac roasting which was fabulous. The staff were very courteous and sat us by a window with a view over the hills to a windmill. The choices on the menu were fantastic and I chose the venison with celeriac mash. The venison was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth.
The only oddity was Oasis playing at a low volume on loop, which did become quite annoying.
But this did not take away from the lovely warm atmosphere and the perfect food.
I would recommend that people should definitely eat here.
Second visit since new restrictions. Happy to recommend. Lots of space. Staff are lovely and the food is excellent.
Very enjoyable lunch. Good menu with great choice and helpful and friendly staff. Will go back
Excellent halloumi burger and great service - friendly and welcoming. We felt that attention had been paid to keeping things safe and we enjoyed our evening. We hope to return!
Somehow they managed to keep it cosy and intimate even with the restrictions we all face at the moment.
Great staff, very friendly. Lovely food. We are far too much... Try the banana bread sundae!!
Would come back again and again if we were local.
Used the extension to the eat out to help out for our first visit. Due to Covid the menu is limited but the food served was very good. Would recommend the sausage and apple roll as a starter.
We’ve been there twice now during our 1 week stay in Rye and would come back any time. The food is amazing, the staff is welcoming and the atmosphere is great. The pub is very rustic and cosy and outside in the summer is just so relaxing with all the birdsong and sheep surrounding the pub.
We came for a Sunday roast. Sat on the patio, which was lovely, nice views of the countryside and was very peaceful. Food was very good and the amount was just right. The staff were friendly. And we appreciated the COVID-19 measures put in place to protect staff and customers. Would definitely return again :)
All great here. Limited menu but all the better for it. Very good burgers and excellent chips. Friendly good service.
Very nice, good old country pub.. nice relaxing atmosphere.
Lovely food and great service. Menu could perhaps be a little more adventurous.
Our waitress was welcoming, friendly and efficient. COVID precautions were good and the food was freshly cooked and very tasty. We would definitely return if we were in the area.
Not a huge choice of options on the menu but all very nice, fresh and well executed
Great location with great food, fast service and friendly staff.
Simple menu, mostly burgers. Well cooked and presented. Great desserts too, especially the sticky toffee pudding. Eat Out to Help Out made this a very affordable meal in nice surroundings. Efficient and pleasant staff. Friendly chefs! Highly recommended
The rice / corn / chicken salad was very light on corn, the scotch egg was made with pork not black pudding as advertised, explained as being because no black pudding, should have been told when ordering and croquettes had very little filling.
Not the standard we are used to.
Definitely worth a visit. The burgers are delicious
I'm relatively close to the Plough and have frequented it often and thoroughly enjoyed my times there. I'm aware that different people are running it now and I have to say my partner and I was extremely disappointed with the menu and the lack of choice. Not a vegetable in sight unless you are a vegetarian, then there were one or two. I'm not a burger person nor fish and chips, I can go to a cafe for either, I was rather hoping for better.
