   After booking and organising I got a phone call to say there was an error and they could not accommodate us - very disappointing.

   Lovely food and service was good, although slightly slower than we would have liked. The restaurant was very crowded, which is why the staff were extremely busy. We weren’t pleased with our table location. It was outside the main restaurant in an alcove. Therefore the ambience was minimal! It might suit a party who wish to be completely private. Nevertheless, the food was good and we shall certainly book again.

   We stood waiting to be attended to for quite some time staff were walking past us. Then we had to wait for a table even though we could see empty tables. When we were ordering the server gave us the impression she did not have a clue what she was doing and we both commented that it would be a miracle to get what we ordered! Well we didn’t as the salmon was sold out so after 15 mins of ordering I had to pick something else. The drinks took too long To arrive, considering we had two small children who said to the server they were thirsty. Whilst the food arrived promptly, excluding my started of Brie the food was absolutely vile. As my husband summed up it looked and tasted as though we were on “come dine with me” and someone was trying to be fancy but failed in the execution. I ordered my steak medium but it arrived well done at this point I couldn’t be bothered to comment, it had zero flavour. When my son spilt his drink no one offered to help clear the spillage, whilst I am not adverse to cleaning up his mess I would have expected someone to offer to help, or to give us something to use. The ladies toilets were not open so you had to use the disabled. Even though I had said it was my daughters birthday they did NOTHING to make her feel special. A candle wouldn’t have gone a miss! I don’t think I will be returning with my family for quite some time which is a shame.

   Wanted to try somewhere new for a Sunday roast. The restaurant is in a gorgeous location and the interior is very nice. Sadly the roasts really let it down. Between us we had roast chicken, pork and beef. They were all terrible. The chicken was dry, the potatoes were not great, the Yorkshire pudding was so tough I had to cut my daughter’s for her. The cauliflower cheese was tasteless and runny. My son had the kid’s beef burger and loved it. There was also a badly broken glass on the table when we arrived which I only noticed when I went to pour water into it. So lucky I turned it around and it wasn’t one of the kid’s drinks. The manager was apologetic for the meals and compensated us really well which means we will give the restaurant another chance, but definitely not for a roast again!

   Staff very helpful and friendly without being too much. I had the vegan menu which had plenty of choice and the food was delicious. My husband had steak which he said was cooked perfectly. Beautiful setting, lovely pub and couldn't fault a thing.

    We have been going to The Plough for over 30 years (it has changed hands a couple of times) and it is consitently a good option within its category. The food menu is varied and good and the wines reasonably priced but with a broad selection. My wife and son chose a melting chocolate and peanut butter desert which was possibly too sweet and too big in comparison to the mains.
