Delicious, so cute outside, strong tasty drinks, highly recommend!
A lot of places do not live up to the hype. This place did.
Finally ate in the Jack lodge was super excited to. Very disappointed in the service. Server kept leaving and not getting everyone’s orders for drinks and food. And very forgetful when we asked for something. Also drinks were sub par as well as the food. It used to be better but this was my first time eating there in at least a year.
We sat outdoors and it was beautiful!! My friends and I stayed really warmed and love the setup. It was a lot of fun!
My partner and I went to The Playwright on Saturday, February 27, 2021 for a reservation at 12:45PM (Brunch time). We were seated right away. One of the first things I noticed was the glass separations between tables and that made me feel really comfortable. They kindly even sat us at a table of 4 even though there were only 2 of us and let us stay way past the 90 minute table limit (pandemic restriction). The service was great, they were quick and attentive. Everything we ordered was delicious including the drinks, but I wouldn’t recommend the steak hash— I enjoy seasoning and that steak lacked that. I am rating this restaurant 4 stars because it just wasn’t our vibe, but it may be yours. It was super loud, dark, kinda dingy looking, there was absolutely no social distancing in the bar area (unacceptable), and in the two hours we were there for we were the only Black people in the space.
Breakfast was just okay. Food was nothing to rave about.
I highly recommend going there for lunch / dinner. Their food offerings are substantially better than the breakfast menu. You won’t be disappointed with the buf chix wrap and buf chix dip.
Great food and drinks! The outdoor dining area is adorably decorated! They make covid safe dining cute and fun.
Really quality food. Not over priced, but not cheap. A little loud. Mimosa tower is a must.
$7 drafts is awesome
LOVED the lodge outside!! Food was amazing and can’t wait to go back!
I had an amazing experience at the playwright. We had one extra person and were running late and the hostess was so kind and accommodating to our additional requests. Waitress was also very attentive and was very fun to talk to. We were outside in the Jack Lodge and it was very COVID safe as well.
Besides a long wait to get our servers attention after being seated, the service was good and the food and drinks were delicious. Would definitely recommend, just hoping for some speedier initial service the next time around.
Towers are great for groups!
Only thought is that it feels cramped in the outdoor seating, too many tables too close together.
Food was delicious! 5/5
There just wasn’t enough heating in the outdoor seating and it was 25°. Maybe our fault, but it was too cold to think and the food was cold 5 minutes after being served. Pretty expensive as well
The Playwright outdoor lodge was perfect for a safe, outdoor dining experience! The cabin was festively decorated and warm which made for an enjoyable time. The food and drinks were delicious and the service was great. Would recommend to anyone!
Great brunch food! Reasonably priced for the city.
Went here for an NFL playoff game and missed the first quarter since they couldn’t figure out how to change the channel
Very cold and not sitting 6ft from nearest t
Super fun outdoor area, felt super safe, food & drinks were super good as well!
The food was great! I had the Nashville chicken and waffles, chicken was so moist and juicy. The only downside was I had my ten month old daughter with me and they do not have high chairs 😕 so bit of a pain to have a baby on your lap while you try to enjoy your meal/ drinks. Me and my husband made the best of it!
Great attentive service. The food was amazing and I cannot wait to come again!
had a reservation at 7:45 and waited 25 minutes to be seated- then they made us leave within 45 minutes due to the covid curfew 😩 food made up for it though, nachos and wings were delish!
We had a reservation but were forced to wait outside anyway and it was kinda cold out :(
Bouncer tried to card my 12 year old
Waitress was beyond awesome! Ambiance/holiday decor was gorgeous! New Peanut butter martini was delish!!!!
Portions are tiny (3 chicken tenders were $14.00). Drinks were ok. Good ambience and vibe in the place
Food was great
Parking was difficult for those driving in to S Boston
Noise level was loud for lunchtime but tolerable, did not bother us
We’d come back
Brunch with my girls very fun kind of expensive
super popular place for a reason, sometimes the service is not the best, but tonight our server went above and beyond usual service!
Can’t go wrong with any of the apps.
Love their chicken Milanese
Our experience at The Playwright was very disappointing!
The restaurant is cute and lively! We ordered nachos and buffalo chicken tenders. The food was good, however, the portions were not. An order of the tenders came with only three pieces of chicken, for $14. The tenders were good, but it wasn’t even enough for one person to eat.
The two of us sat at the bar, where each group of four seats was divided by a barrier (so we had two empty seats). Then, as we were eating, 2 other customers who were not wearing masks approached us and attempted to sit in the two empty seats next to us. We told them we weren’t comfortable with them sitting there as there would be no divider between us. They claimed that they are “regulars” at The Playwright and that the staff let them sit wherever they want. This was absolutely disgusting and unsafe. I was so disappointed that staff allowed patrons in without masks, allowed them to try to sit with us, and did not defend us when we said we were uncomfortable with sharing our seats.
Overall, our food was good but horribly overpriced and portions were disappointing. The restaurants response to the COVID-19 pandemic is unacceptable and unsafe. Awful experience and I absolutely would not recommend.
Always great here! I have never been disappointed!
Love the playwright!! Always suggesting it for food and drink with a friend
Service was incredible. Sat at a lm isolated/socially distanced part of the bar it was great! Chicken sandwich was amazing
We went for Sunday brunch with friends - it seemed safe with good Covid-19 protections all around. Service was friendly and mostly very efficient. Food was really good and portions were large. The coffee was strong and very good.
Very great vibe and fun atmosphere! Good drinks, but not great food. Small portions and could have made myself. Over still still fun experience though
Booked for inside dining. Then upon arriving we were informed that there were only tables available outside. Once we sat down outside, we noticed other parties being seated inside even though we were told their weren’t any available. 30 min into our get-together it began to rain hard outside and we were forced to leave early.
The blonde waitress is AMAZING she is so fun and adds to the overall experience. Appetizers and drinks
