The Pit Authentic BBQ Ratings and Reviews
BBQ was A M A Z I N G ! Probably some of the best I’ve ever had . Mac & cheese was my favorite side, but the sweet potato fries were right there with it!!!! Service was good!! And we were sat as soon as we arrived at our reservation time :) !! I will be back !
My friends and I went here for New Years and it was an overall good experience. Our server, Andy, was super cool and the environment is nice. The only thing that wasn't the greatest was that they were out of pulled pork and pimento cheese balls, but the other things we ordered were still tasty. They also gave us extra cake because it was the end of the night which made up for the lack of pulled pork and pimento cheese balls.
Parking is tricky. Reservation was for 8:45 but their valet attendant explained that we should just "find a free spot somewhere" instead of using them because valet service ended at 9:00. Nice. The lot next door was charging $20.00 so we kept looking. Luckily we found a spot down the block. After a very cold and windy walk we made it in. The food was good. Especially the brunswick stew and hush puppies. The chopped BBQ was nice. The brisket a bit tough but okay for NC. Parking irked me a lot. Probably not going back.
We found this savory BBQ on our inaugural visit to Raleigh. I ended up taking another meal's worth of the delectable meatloaf in a separate container as the portions are huge. Everyone in our party raved about their meals especially the fried chicken, Brunswick Stew, and Brisket. We will be back definitely 😍
Drinks very good, has a sunset drink (2). 1 in our party has a full rack of ribs...1 -1/2 slab was ok, the other was almost burnt...could not believe it was even brought out to the table. You were good enough to replaced it though. The one brought out to replace it was not done. As was the same with mine ( I had 1/2 rack). Kids were running back and forth and being very loud past our table at least 6 times making it difficult to have a quiet conversation. Our wait staff was more interested in setting up for a party of 17 than checking in on us for drinks and the bad ribs. Waited about 10 mins for someone to bring us drink refills even though we flagged down a waitress ( not ours) to accomplish this. My wife did like the pulled pork. Also had the chicken, and it was tasty too. For someplace known for their BBQ, was not impressed with the ribs at all
My family and I went to the Pit for my birthday. I had previously been to this restaurant a year earlier for my birthday and had a great experience. This year was not as great. Our experience started with our waiter taking several minutes to greet us, then when he finally did, he was not very personable. It took him a long time to get our drinks and take our food orders. I started ordering my food and was very disappointed when I ordered the pulled pork and was informed they had run out. I didn't want anything else and had to make a last minute decision and ordered the meat loaf, which was not good at all. The only positive was I did get my meal taken off the bill due to my dissatisfaction. It will be a long time before I return to the Pit unfortunately.
Wehave gone every year for the past 4 years for my sons birthday with a couple times here and there in between. This year there was definitely a difference in the food. The quality was not there. Ribs that are so tender they usually fall of the bone were dry and chewy. My daughter has braces so she has to cut her meat off as she cannot bite them. I had to do it for her this year and had difficulty in getting it off. I had the salmon and one end was cooked fine. The other end was way overcooked. The amount of food you receive has greatly decreased but the prices did not decrease to reflect the smaller servings.
The server was great though. Friendly and effecient. Our glasses were refilled promptly and all of our orders were correct.
We went as a family party of eight on Christmas Eve. I did not realize it until later but we were one of the last big parties seated as they were closing early. I was disappointed at first as they were out of several items but the waiter responded brilliantly and brought us several appetizers that we did not order that were on the house. The service was great and they never let it show that we were some of the last customers in the place. Food was great. They do a fantastic job with large groups. Servers made the night special for our whole family.
Best hush puppies ever! We had three in our group and made reservations which is a good idea. Each had something special- mine was broccoli salad - suggested by our attentive waiter, and my son had the brussel sprouts and my husband had brunswick stew as sides.
My son had the chopped pork and chicken , I had the chopped pork and my husband had the pulled pork. The chopped pork was the best flavor - Eastern BBQ - yum!
All 3 of us enjoyed our lunch. The lunch selections are great, both variety and price. Our server was terrific!! Very patient with us as we tried to make our selections. Besides the food, since parking is such an issue, plus it was pouring rain, providing a valet service is an extremely welcome addition to the experience of eating lunch at The Pit. Very enjoyable experience!!
