Sharon was our waitress and her bubbly smile with her pink hair was so welcoming. It was our first time and she hit it out of the ball park with her recommendation of the cheese balls and dinner plates. She even surprised us with a banana pudding for dessert. It was a wonderful date night for my husband and I without our kids and she just made us feel really special as if we were her only table. And clearly we were not. We will go back again, and hopefully we will have her as our waitress!

We made this part of our road trip from Pittsburgh, PA to Chapel Hill. Will make the trip just for The Pit again! One of the best meals I've had! Amazing BBQ.. We tried a lot of it, brisket, smoked turkey, chopped bbq and the fried chicken, all amazing. We considered going again for lunch the next Day!
Service was exceptional! We had 3 servers who rotated and they gave us their Banana Cream Pie on the house for making the trip! Great southern hospitality!
I couldn't finish my plate because of the large portion size and was sad when I had no room to finish!
Highly recommended!

The service and ambiance were great. Food was pretty good. Only I complaint I have is that it obvious a lot their things are made in bulk and then you get a scoop of it. So my Mac and cheese and fries were pretty cold. The fried chicken and pulled pork were amazing though and I’d recommend it to a friend.

The Pit is where I always take family and friends that come to visit. Tonight was the same quality service and food we have come to expect when we take out of town visitors out in Raleigh!

Service was a little off. They didn’t meet our request for a booth and then forgot to bring us biscuits and hush puppies until we asked at the end. Then got two of our orders wrong, with no change to the bill.

Food and served were just ok...I feel it’s overpriced...especially for the quality. They did not acknowledge the Birthday celebration requested with our reservation then told Open Table we were a no show reservation. Valet parking was unavailable...we were told the lot was full. Overall not an experience I would rave about. This is not my first time here but I won’t return unless someone else is insisting on going there...which happened this time. BTW...the Durham location is much better...both food and service. So if someone says go to The Pit I will suggest going to the Durham location.

Third visit, still a great meal. The chocolate cake is a must - HUGE and delicious - plenty for 4 to share. Brisket is a favorite, and the app sampler.

It was just okay. I’ve had better meals there. The sides were delivered cold. The turkey bbq was super salty and tangy...I wasn’t expecting that. It may be okay with some but I wouldn’t order it again. Wait staff were very friendly and attentive.

We were coming from out of town to see a concert in Raleigh. We decided to eat at The Pit because it was close to the venue and we had eaten there before. The chopped pork and fried chicken was outstanding. The brisket was tender, but I didn't dig the sauce that was on it. If I have the brisket again, I will have them hold the sauce. all of the sides were great and the wait staff was wonderful. Overall a great experience.

The menu lists numerous gluten free options for the main dish (bbq) however there are only 2 side dishes that are gluten free. I informed the server that I habe celiac and she was very accomadating but we had 4 different servers throughout the meal, so I had to explain to each one of them that I have celiac. The deviled eggs were very good as was the bourbon ice cream. The meat I had (brisket and Carolina Style ribs) were good but not the best I've had. Overall, food was good and service was very good.

Food is always good. The service is always hit or miss. They do “team serving” which seems to be confusing and we often felt overlooked. Highly recommend the bbq though.

Dropped in and ordered a two meat combo at the bar. I'm not a big fan of vinegar-based sauce but I found the chopped barbecue to be rather flavorless. The brisket was tender but just average. The bartender was nice but busy and forgot my beer. Overall I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

We saw The Pit on Food Network, and we thought we try it. Make sure you have a reservation because there will be a wait, but it is totally worth it! We love the bbq!
