   Food was nice. We had a Sunday roast. Portion size was small. Vegetables practically non-existant. Not even a carrot! When the food came out, I was expecting a side plate of vegetables. The food came out stacked in the centre of the plate. Starting from the bottom.... 2 parsnips, 4 small roast potates, a small bit of green cabbage, 4 slices of beef, 1 large yorkshire pudding, topped with gravy. No carrots, no cauliflower, no brocolli. Football screens were put up in the dining area, losing the feeling of a nice Sunday lunch. The fire escape door was left open making the room feel cold. Service was good. However, paying £14.99 per meal meant not value for money. Was definitely better a few years ago. Shame.

   My partner and I we staying close and chose the piper based on the good reviews it had received…unlike other places the piper lives upto the reviews. although this is a local pub, the landlord and his staff were welcoming and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. we chose to have the Sunday roast and this was one of the best we have had food was well presented and delicious, we had absolutely no complaints and the quality is certainly something you wouldn’t expect in a pub environment. we stayed for desert and had an equally enjoyably experience, we had the brownie and cookie dough tray and would have had seconds for both. when leaving, although he was having food himself the landlord thank us for our custom and wished us well which was a nice touch. would recommend highly

   Food was very reasonably priced but tasty although the evening menu was limited. The quiz night was really good and a lovely atmosphere. The staff were welcoming and if we lived close we would definitely go more often

   Dined on a Monday evening. Staff were friendly and there service good. Food was really nice and definitely value for money. Will definitely return next time we are I Chester

   Booked a table for 4 to celebrate a low key birthday. Welcomed by the manager. Food was better than we expected, and was good value as we had the benefit of the 2 for £12.95 Mon-Wed offer. The Prawns and Mushrooms were very tasty. Hunters chicken was a huge plateful and steaks were tasty and tender enough too. Onion rings were excellent. We eat early, so it was quite quiet. Drinks were reasonable value too. Would definitely come again for quick, good value meal.

   Food was excellent. Had the xmas food menu. Inside needs to be refurbished. The walls had streaks coming down like water marks. Service wasn't great but eventually someone took our order. But all that is forgiven as the food was top notch. The main I had was mushroom bourguignon, mash, sprouts, roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips with yorkshire pud and vegan gravy. It was the best xmas meal I have had in a pub. And 2 courses for just under £20 is a bargain.

   Had Christmas lunch here it was great atmosphere was good very busy. Landlords and staff were friendly and helpful. Booking for next year as soon as it becomes available.

   Booked for Christmas day, took my mother, who is hard to please when eating out. From the moment we walked in the piper, the atmosphere was buzzing. Once seated we all relaxed everything was spot on, brilliant service from the landlords and their staff and the five course Christmas dinner was excellent could not fault it and my mother was happy with the food and atmosphere. It is a fantastic place with amazing staff. Everyone should go and try. You will enjoy yourselves.

   Although we had a wait of 30 mins the meal was beautifully prepared. Had a slight problem with one steak but this was promptly rectified.

    Excellent service. Very prompt and helpful staff. Food good.....portions not as sizeable as hoped, but tasted good. Children’s menu had good choice and reasonably priced. A nice pub for a casual meal out.
