The Pines Modern Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Great restaurant with a fantastic staff. The food was excellent, great bottle of wine (Newtons unfiltered Cabernet 2014). The management here really know how to run a first class restaurant. 2nd time here and hopefully many more to come. 30 minutes from Ontario Airport or 60 minutes from Palm Springs.
Food was good, but we had a RSVP & they tried to stick us in the first table by the front door & the restaurant was almost empty. They made a big deal about going back up tp the front to see if there was another table available. They seated us at another table. If they had not we would have walked out.
The best thing was they followed my reservation instructions perfectly. I wanted to sit as far away from the music as I could and they did just that. The staff is wonderful. The food is great. It is however located inside of a casino. I try to get there a couple times a year.
Everything was great. But we wanted to be close to the band and the lady who sat us down said we couldn't even if we had a reservation....the whole time we were there. There was alot of empty table we could have been on one.....plus the lady who sat us down saw tnat the table setting was only for one. But did not bother to set another place mat and utensils fir another person. And she was not friendly.....the food and the waiter/waitress had good service....ae love the pines and we only hope that when we make a reservation that we could be accomdated when we ask to sit close to the band when there is alot of vacant tables....thank you
The wait staff was excellent. The live music was great. Most of the dinner was above par However the main dishes were very bland. I had to double thick porkchop and while it was extremely tender and cooked perfectly it lacked seasoning. Same thing for the wild salmon cooked well but lackluster seasoning. The side dishes were excellent as were the two soups we had.
The food/staff & ambiance were outstanding. That was our first Brunch at the Pines and we celebrated my husband's birthday. We enjoyed it tremendously. Loved the Harp music as well. I put noise level as moderate on the survey as there was no other choice, but it was just lovely ambiance with the harp.
The only concern/criticism I have is the booths. We were lead to the first booth (shaped like a horseshoe). While I'm a bit heavy, my husband is very thin. We both had trouble manuervering between the table and the outside arm (or edge of the booth) which was a bump out. It made it difficult to get in and out of the booth. Once in the booth there was plenty of room and no problem. It was just the bump out at the entrance/exit of the booth. Don't know if anyone else had that problem, but my husband and I are two different sizes and we both had trouble. Should have sat at a table to avoid the problem, but others will probably have the same problem with the bump out design.
Thank you so much for the offer of my input. I love San Manuel and I live in Beaumont, CA between Morongo and Soboba and still drive back to San Manuel as that is where I feel most comfortable.
I endured a 45 minute wait, took an hour to serve the main course, and to top it off, had the worst filet mignon. Yes, we ordered well done, but had my share of filet mignons in the past, and by far, that was the driest, hardest, and awfully tasting filet I've ever had.
Steaks don't stand out. Tempura calamari was tough but dip tasted better than the previuos cocktail sauce. Salads have to be more interesting.
Chile bass was good but cod was really great! Lobster tail was chewy.
The complimentary warm cheese crusted bread remains unforgetable but I prefer regular salted butter and not the sweet kind.
Considering that the place doesn't really get that busy, the wait for food is typically long.
Beverage and food servers are courteous and friendly.
For a place that serves beer and alcohol, it should have more bathroom stalls. Line wasn't moving fast enough cause the guests have a hard time making the water run in the restroom sink. Sensor is defective.
The steakhouse has a classy ambience but somehow it doesn't make you feel welcome.
good size restaurant, very pretty,we went for sunday buffet they have , price is too much 40.00, you do get all the orange juice you want and its good, dessert was disappointing...i dislike how some buffets have these little gourmet desserts that are unappealing, i don' t mind how small they are cause i like small but not these silly little cups of this and that....fruit was sweet and croissant very fresh , delicious...fresh made to order waffles....bacon disappointing overcooked...sausage very good, top sirloin very good, prime rib good...if you play enough in casino...we got one free buffet
The Wait Staff isn't attentive for the prices they charge. The funny thing is that I got better service at their Rock & Brews Cafe with better tasting food. I've eaten at plenty of 4 and 5 Star Restaurants all around and give this about a 2 1/2 just because the Ribeye was well prepared. The Rosemary Baked bread has too much rosemary that overpowers the taste. They accompany it with a weird sweet butter that didn't compliment the bread at all. I asked for regular butter and got the same (whipped topping type butter)just plain. Lol
The appetizer we got was Calamari and it was the chewiest thing I've ever had. Your jaws got tired of chewing! When the non-attentive waiter finally asked about it, I complained and he just nodded. We had to ask to get more water which was poured all over the table and the glass. Really? lol
The Ribeye was seasoned well and that was the highlight. At $42, I just felt short changed. The Signature Mashed Potatoes came "Loaded" yes with tons of cheese and bacon bits. I said I didn't want "Loaded Potatoes"; the gentleman I stopped when he walked by my table said that's how we do it here. BTW if you are hungry and want to share this at $9, it was ONE scoop in the worlds most smallest dish. They won the award for having the smallest side I've ever seen for $9!
They don't clean the crumbs off your table during your meal and you actually feel out of sorts because they seem attentive to other tables but not ours. I had to flag down the busboy and try to get the check. Didn't want to wait another 20 minutes trying to find where our waiter was at. Oh wait he was chatting with the staff at the Bar. LOL!
Bottom line if you have a casino coupon then I guess it's fine because it was free. If I was paying for this meal. I would just avoid it all together. Even at George Lopez's Chingon Kitchen (Fast Food) they continuously smile and make you feel at home. What a concept.
We came for brunch on 10/15@10am . I just want to understand the endless mimosa part. While everyone around us has unlimited mimosas they stopped serving us close to 11:30-12 noon but continued to give all the patrons around our table drinks but us. I felt like we got cheated. Overall , service was good & food was great.
The service here was terribly slow. It should not take 3 hours from
Start to finish to complete this meal. The waitress was very hard to locate, drinks were slow, my steak was not cooked as ordered. Lastly, for a group of 6 the gratuity was already added. I guess that’s why the service was horrible the wait staff already had a guaranteed tip. I found this to be very rude and will not be returning to this establishment.
Food was good, service was the worst we have ever received. I received a confirmation the night before but, when we got to the restaurant we were notified that out table had been given away. It was a Saturday night and not very busy at 5:30 pm so I can't understand why the service was so bad. We were offered a free appetizer because our table was given away (the hostess did apologize profusely). We never got a refill on our beverages, soup was brought to the table without spoons??? We waited over 20 minutes to get our check and then had to remind the server that we were still waiting for our cheesecake that we ordered to go.
