Built in 1336, The Pilchard Inn has been quenching the island’s thirst for over 700 years. The Inn first served the fishermen who lived on the Island and mainland shores; then the smugglers and wreckers who lured ships onto the Western rocks; and now hotel guests and the public. There is nowhere better to sit in front of a roaring fire and watch the tides ‘meet’ and ‘part’ while nursing a pint and a fresh crab baguette.

The pub is very cosy and the food was lovely but it was very cold no heating and the fire wasn’t on , I think the bar man had tried to light the stove but the doors on the stove were broken , very disappointing as we thought it would be lovely and warm and we had to eat in our coats ,

Visited The Pilchard 3 times in as many months and it has improved every time. Great food and service, highly recommend.

The guys running the Pilchard are great, they're friendly, helpful, serve a mean curry and their service levels and attention to detail put their posh neighbours up the hill to shame. If they ran Burgh Island Hotel it would become THE destination rather than one where the biggest queue at reception is people complaining...

Good Quality food . Have not eaten at the Pilchard Inn before but this was an enjoyable evening with a very attentive barman. Would definitely go again.
