The Pier House Ratings and Reviews
Pier House has a cheerful and open feel to the dining room and a relaxing bar. The menu has some Greek and Greek influenced dishes. In the summer you can eat outside, across the street from the ocean. Off season there is limited opening, only weekends. The food is very good but I would like more Greek dishes and definitely some Greek wine on the menu. The octupus starter with a shot of ouzo was outstanding.
There is no piers in sight of this establishment! It is directly at the Beach and one mile from my house. The Mediteranean influence is obvious and provides a pleasant option to the typical cuisines of the NJ seashore menues. We also went there for breakfast a few weeks ago and it was great!
Heard a lot about the place. Did not realize the strong Greek influence in the cuisine (one of our favorite cuisines mind you). Had the Cesar salad and Calamari as an appetizer, large portion Calamari came with 3 fabulous dipping sauces. I had the Ahi Tuna steak and my wife had the Lamb shank, both delicious and large portions. Server was pleasant, knowledgeable and very attentive. Only downside was an unusually long gap between appetizer and main course (though not super busy from what we could see for a Saturday night). Ended up filling up on bread during the gap, ate just at a small portion of our entrees and took the balance home. Would eat here again! Maybe just a busy night in the kitchen.
The food is Greek/Mediterranean. We split an appetizer, seared spicy scallops. It had a delicious avacado cilantro-lime, Pineapple sauce with it. They complimented each other.
In would also recommend the Pork chop with pears in balsamic glaze & salmon with roasted asparagus, Yukon golds, reisling shiitake cream. Very tasty and good portions.
Our go to restaurant in Cape May! Have never been disappointed! I had 1/2 dozen oysters on the half shelf and the spicy seared scallops which had a beautiful presentation! My husband had the flash fried flounder! Everything was fresh and delicious! We shared the creme brûlée cheesecake for dessert which was outstanding! The service was excellent! We truly enjoyed this dinner which was in celebration of our 48th wedding anniversary!
My wife and I had a very nice dinner here. She had the Chicken Souvlaki, I had Chicken and
Pasta ( paccheri pasta, chicken, chick peas, andouille sausage, spinach, tomato basil cream, kasseri .) We topped of the meal with a Triple Mousse Dome ( creamy, chocolatey, but not
overly sweet ) and coffee ( their cappuccino machine wasn't working . ) While the food was
delicious and we loved the decor, the general sound level was pretty high, I think mostly due to
the fact we were in a corner and the sound was bouncing off the walls. We'll be back the next time we're in Cape May ( but we'll stay away from the corner tables )
Always a nice experience at the Pier House, great Greek inspired cuisine. Server Lindsay was very friendly and took good care of us. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and they added a Happy Birthday message in caramel sauce to his dessert. The calamari is good, the lamb lollipops were amazing. Husband enjoyed the veal. I had the pork which was a bit on the salty side but I still liked it. Entrees may seem pricey but the portions are very generous. Beautiful view of the ocean from any seat! I've also dined here outdoors and it was very nice.
This was a most delicious find, that came as a referral from Susan and Ray at The Mission Inn, and it is a place we shall return to many times and refer it many times as well. It was a very cozy, romantic and beautiful setting with an elegant meal and evening made possible by the fabulous staff beginning with the Hostess who cheerfully greeted us to the most wonderful waitress who was delightful, attentive and knew her menu and chefs abilities well for special requests. The PH Balance was delicious beyond all expectations! Bravo and thank you for a meal we shall not forget!
An evening to rave about!!!
Dinner was outstanding. We sat outside on the deck, enjoying the evening. Our server, Jess, was spectacular. The octopus was grilled to perfection, and the red snapper melted in my mouth.
If you get the opportunity, this restaurant is an absolute MUST in Cape May
We truly enjoyed our meal at Pier House. It was still warm enough to eat outside with candlelight. Quite nice!! Highlight of the meal was the grilled octopus for appetizer. It was tender and perfectly seasoned. We added seared scallops, grilled bronzino and shrimp saganaki. Key Lime pie for dessert. Lovely and delicious meal!
The Pier House is a wonderful dining experience . The food is creative and delicious. The atmosphere is great for celebrating any special occasion. The staff is friendly and attentive. My husband and I have enjoyed dinner here a few times and look forward to going back soon.
We've been here twice before and have had good food and good service, so we thought to try here once again. Our experience with many restaurants in Cape May is that both service and food can be mediocre for tourists. Pier House treated us better than this, so we were motivated to return more than once. Food was quite good, and service also good but could be a bit better. But these tiny black flies in the restaurant were a constant annoyance and we had to send many of them to their ultimate reward to stop them from bothering us during our meal. If we were outside I could understand and maybe accept them being there, but not inside. Maybe it was because the windows had some rot and wet wood around them that allowed these flies to come in or breed inside, but whatever the reason, this did not make for the pleasant experience we would have had without them. They did pay attention to our request for a table in a quiet area and I appreciated it. But maybe next time I should also request no flies. We may go back for the good food and service, if they solve the problem with those little flies.
This was our third time dining at the Peir House and it never disappoints. We love Greek food so always take advantage of good Greek style restaurants. The Calamari dish was fantastic as was the Greek Salad. The octopus was also excellent.
Prior to being seated, we had a drink at the bar - great martinis and the bartender is friendly, professional and full of great spirit.
A little bit of Greece in Cape May. We visit the Pier House for dinner every year in September. My husband looks forward to the grilled octopus appetizer. I love their evgolemono soup. All entrees are good. Lamb shank was excellent and too large to finish. Took half of it home. We also tried them for breakfast this year and it was fabulous. Portions are huge! We highly recommend this restaurant. Looking forward to our next visit.
