The Pier House Ratings and Reviews
It was our 7 th wedding anniversary, I planned a whole day in Cape May , I researched to find a good place to eat , Pier House had good reviews Oceans front dinning great !!!. Was I misled !!!. Start off with Ocean front dinning no view of the ocean, walk to greet hostess to let them no we were here. practically blow us off and answered the phone and began talking to someone else. We went to the bar to get few drinks and had to fight the fly's away. So we left , to try and another place to eat, could not Blue Rose wound up at Fins bar and grille and had great meal polite staff. definitely would recommend Fins.
We have been wanting to try this place all season we usually can not get reservation. I have heard such great things and could not wait to try . Food was ok nothing that set the bar so high to have to wait for a reservation . What was disappointing was we were sat at a table that had a leak in the ceiling . When telling the waitress she was very accommodating and moved us to a dry table . We then watched as the hostess kept retrying to sit people at the table with a leaky roof.. Not sure we will be back nothing special and not worth the wait.
The food was excellent and the outdoor setting was lovely. The presentation of the dishes was creative and enhanced the quality of the overall experience. Prices were a bit above average but well worth it. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking outstanding food in a beautiful setting. You'll thank us!
We were looking for a nice restaurant with a view in Cape May when I came across The Pier House. We are sort of Greek food snobs (think Varka in Bergen County) so we were anxious to see if it would measure up. It did! We were all very pleased with our meals. We felt just a little rushed by our waitress, but maybe she was just trying to be attentive.
We enjoyed our dinner at Pier House during our annual Cape May trip. Been here several times over the past 10 years and foodwise, it still holds up. Food is fresh and nicely seasoned and plated; especially enjoyed a top-notch grilled octopus and bronzino. Bread basket offerings of olive bread and whole grain were irresistibly good. The restaurant is very California-esque; spacious and white with interesting, colorful paintings and art pieces. We had a table for 6 for our party of four near the entryway, and I must say the booths looked much cozier. Our waitress was pleasant, but a bit forgetful, neglecting to clear the table between courses, dropping the forks on the table indecorously in a clump before dessert. We indulged this since it was apparent she meant well, but it was not service befitting a higher end establishment.
My husband and I came to the Pier House to celebrate our anniversary, and we were not disappointed. Everything was perfect - we were welcomed right away, we were brought glasses of champagne to celebrate, our cocktails were the best we had had yet in Cape May, and the food was fantastic. Our waitress could not have been sweeter! Desserts were awesome, and the service was excellent. Can not wait to return to the Pier House!
This restaurant is a true gem at the Jersey shore in Cape May. While a little pricey their food is just outstanding and certainly worth every penny.
Their seafood is just awesome! the salmon and crab cakes were the best we had in a very long time!!
We will be back for sure
The food and service were fabulous. I was entertaining a guest and the noise level made conversation almost impossible. A nearby table had a small child who screamed about every five minutes. And I do mean scream. The noise level generally is something that needs attention I prefer brunch and I always ask not to be seated in the bar.
The Pier House is a wonderful restaurant to visit if you are in Cape May. It is situated facing the beach and you can breathe in the fresh ocean air. I enjoyed the shrimp cocktail and chicken Ceasar salad. My 2 guests loved the NY Strip Steak and other guest loved salad with grilled chicken. The service was good and the food tasted excellent.
I was a chef for 12 years, and now am
A restaurant consultant and broad line territory manager involved with 32 accounts weekly... In other words, The food industry is my business. This establishment is phenomenal and is highly recommended. The chefs are up with the times using the freshest and unique ingridients while staying true to the establishments Mediterranean roots. Bravo on a meal that won't soon be forgotten!
Make sure to try the watermelon and feta salad!!
We have eaten here before for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast and lunch were great, dinner disappointing. I ordered the snapper and asked the waiter if the fish was fileted and he (Jeremy) assured me it was. Apparently he didn't know what fileted actually meant because there were so many bones it was inedible. Very disappointed that he did not offer either another entrée or not charge me for the snapper. My husband ordered swordfish and it was perfect. Had the octopus for an appetizer and it was incredible. There are so many great places to eat in Cape May that I am not sure if I would go back for dinner again.
Also, had drinks there at the bar in the afternoon while waiting to check in at the hotel and the house wine was great and the bartender so accommodating.
