The Pier Cafe
Instantly popular with cakes, coffees and some favourite drinks The Pier Café is fully licensed. Expect indulgent Greek classics; delicious fresh seafood dishes and, of course, some decadent home-made cakes & desserts.
Second time and will definitely be back.
Very reasonable pricing with the set menu very nice servings, staff exceptionally friendly would definitely recommend to anyone.
Totally appalled with the service. Owner quickly came to us on arrival to tried to sell his cocktails.
Police parked outside doing alcohol and drug testing we declined the drinks. Ordered food it came after 25 minutes. They then took my husbands plate away immediately while I was still eating. We we’re not even asked for a top up of drinks. Waitresses walked past us so many times.
We were put in the middle of the restaurant on Saturday night where we froze. They didn’t give us a desert menu or offered coffee. We got up and left. I will never go back.
Great food and very friendly staff.
Highly recommend this venue.
The lights need to be turned down a little too bright.....very loud but food and staff fantastic
The best calamari we have eaten in a long time lovely and tender. Will keep going back just for that.
Staff absolutely lovely, food was great and well priced. Really enjoyed our night out here. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone on the pensinula.
The cafe had a clean and bright appearance, staff were friendly and attentive. The food was cafe as distinct from restaurant quality. In summary a nice place but a cafe not a restaurant.
The banquet is definitely value for money and yummy we left not wanting another thing and the service staff are very friendly and welcoming
The entire experience of being at The Pier Cafe was first class.
Our French customer service waitress was an absolute delight and complemented our overall experience.
We will most certainly revisit.
Good night out at a place the close by
Very nice indeed. Good food, good service, pleasant staff
Nice food, nice atmosphere, well priced.
We ordered seafood and gyros platter (the latter with Greek salad) to share between four.
Unfortunately the Greek salad came with the seafood (which we didn't realise), leaving insufficient salad for the gyros. Gyros had very small amounts of chips and bread relative to the meat.
Either the food needs to be better balanced or the person taking the order needs to inform you more about what you are going to get.
Great food, very good and friendly service. A real neighbourhood gem.
We stopped by for a simple, shared lunch and found the staff friendly and the service very good.
A shared platter and some drinks was shared and all is well!
Firstly, let me say that I have been to the Pier Cafe many times and the food has always been outstanding!!! It has a great vibe and friendly atmosphere. The service has always been very good, but pretty stretched when they are busy, but that's understandable. On my last visit, we were a group of 5 and decided to go with the set menu at $45.00 p/p. The first course of dips, 4 dollops and 8 pieces of pita bread, 1 triangle of Saganaki and a tiny plate of small pieces of octopus arrived. As my friends had dined there the week before, and had the same set menu for 6, he questioned as to whether there was more coming as they had received double the amount, but was told that it was correct. The owner attempted to explain the reason behind the difference between 6 and 5 people, but we couldn't make any sense of it!! He did say that for 3-5 people it's one, 6-8 it's two. So, one extra person, and we would have received two of everything. Try cutting one piece of saganaki between 5 people, and only 8 bits of pita for 5??? In all fairness, our waitress ordered us more pita, at no charge, as we still had dips left on our platter. The other courses, seafood and meats were ok, but the seafood platter was full of white bait, which were delicious, but we felt were a filler to make the plate look full!! The meat platter looked substantial, but when you removed the larger items, the gyros meat was minimal, but there were big chunky pieces of potatoes, which I love, so gave up my meat to the men and had extra potatoes!! All in all, I cannot fault the quality and taste of the food and we will definitely be going back, but, unless we have a booking of 6, we won't be going with the set menu again. We'll just order our own and share!! We did go away satisfied, but at $45.00, we could of, at least, been given 2 pieces of pita per person, and a larger piece of cheese to divvy up!! We all agreed that the set menu, in our case, was not good value for money.
We booked a table online received a confirmation and yet when we arrived there was no record of our booking. The restaurant manager looked totally stressed and overwhelmed and couldn’t explain why he didn’t have a table for us, I suspect they don’t check their online bookings so my advice is to ring to book or go elsewhere as they weren’t very friendly despite their error.
We went to the Pier for dinner with a group of 7. We had a 2 children with us. The food was delicious and the service from our waitress was fabulous. Very friendly.
Limited but effective breakfast menu had one vegan with us he was accomodated OK but very limited
We really enjoyed our meal but suggest that when you order your meal check if it comes with chips or salad as you may need to order them as sides. It would be an excellent place for coffee and greek cakes at any time. They don't split the bill so bring some change along if that is your preference.
It was great for the 1st time we went here, they should have put Greek music on. To blend in with the Atmosphere, That is all,
Food was great we got there early so got the nice crunchy outside fit😃
food and service great - the souvlaki is a great value meal. Staff eager to please - a great place for a casual feed. Ambience is lacking due to bright lights - dim the lights and this place will be a winner!
We have now been 3 times to the Pier Cafe and cannot fault it although it can be very noisy when a large group is dining.
As ‘oldies’? we find the very close seating next to your neighbouring people, especially along the bench seating, sometimes a little off putting.
Otherwise a great place to eat really fresh seafood.
Best time to go after the 6:30 rush, say around 8:00 pm
very good evening but have to book, only one question the booking asked what kind if any was the celebration for and I ticked birthday but nothing was done to acknowledge this, its OK but why bother to ask if you are not going to do a cup cake with a candle in it or whatever,
We are so glad to have The Pier as our go to Greek restaurant. Good food, reasonable wine prices all enjoyed in a lively atmosphere. Advisable to book any day as always busy. keeo doing what you are doing Ari
We went on a Wednesday night. Cafe was extremely noisy. Unpleasantly so. Difficult to hear my dinner date.
Service was fast,helpful and friendly.
Food (souvlaki wraps) came out quickly and were delicious.
If it wasn’t for the noise factor I would go back without hesitation.
Great food. Relaxed atmosphere. Children friendly. Noisy, so not the romantic setting but a great casual date setting. Easily recommended for couples, families & groups. Very tasty 😋
Booked online when we got there they had no table and a lot were reserved, waitress went out back and said ohhh they booked it under your first name your table is number 5.. No Reserved sign 😂😂
Meal was great but they were very busy and meals didn't come out all at once they apologised and gave us a free bottle of wine that is great customer service
The food and service were fabulous, however, the restaurant was very cold and way too bright for an evening meal. Too many lights and a very stark white environment which we didn't enjoy.
A Tuesday night is probably not generally a busy night so when after an hour and a half of waiting for our main we and other tables around us began to wonder if there was a problem with the kitchen. The waitress wasn't concerned, the owner offered us dessert & coffee gratis but by then we were just too tired as our dishes gradually arrived within 20 minutes of each other. There were 4 of us and had we waited for all 4 dishes before starting, our food would have been cold, add the cold stares & shrugs from the waitress and it was a decidedly unpleasant experience not to be repeated. Was the food worth waiting for? I don't know I was just too hungry to notice. The waitress had forgotten our entrees entirely.
Great food in the Greek style also other alternatives, unfortunately quite noisy therefor difficult to hear conversation. Noise level was relevant to the number of people present inside the Cafe'/Restaurant having Sunday lunch! I would still return, this is the second time we have eaten here, I would prefer to go alone next time and just enjoy the food without trying to hear the conversation.
Really enjoyed the food but were kept waiting 45 minutes for our meal.
Booked and wanted to arrive at 11am for an early lunch but were told that lunch could not start until noon. Changed our arrival time and ordered at 11.55am. Our food arrived at 12.45pm
Really poor service and will be very reluctant to return.
The wait staff were lovely, the food was delish but the wait was soooooooo long, it really took the shine off. My 7 year old fell asleep at the table because it was such a long wait.
The home made chicken nuggets from the kids' menu were a hit and my husband, my 13 y/o and I shared two of the banquets between us.
Dips were sensational
Meat and seafood platters were good but the rissoley things were dry and unnecessary.
The desserts looked and sounded lovely but cwe were too full to try them, unfortunately.
Great food, fantastic service, greet kids menu and reasonable prices. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back
Great to have traditional Greek food in the area. The sea food platter is amazing and consists of a great variety of sea food.
The desserts are very nice and great for a coffee and cake catch up.
The occasional Greek night with live music makes it very enjoyable for any occasion.
Some of the best Calamari I have had in a very long time, so tender. The whitebait was great. Dips were okay but not enough bread to go with them and the bread was a little hard, would have preferred something more light and fluffy. However overall our group of four where very happy with our choice of restaurant.
Great food and nice surroundings. Service and food delivery were a bit slow. Decor was lovely
The owners of this place will need to work on the way they take their bookings - it's either by phone or online, if it's both please manage them properly. Otherwise you put your customers in a very unpleasant position - like me and my family were - when we booked a table on-line, came to the place and found out that we had not been booked in - ??? - and all the tables were reverved except for the "naughty corner" - a table right next to the kitchen counter. Also please teach some manners to a waitress called 'Margie?' or somehow like that (did not have a chance to find out her name) - a young tall black-haired girl who served me a glass of wine... This is NOT the way you serve people espesially with wine. She was also quite rude in general. Overall impression of the place - badly managed, owners are thinking too high of themselves without any reasonable grounds for that. The only thing that made me stay there was hunger and feeling sorry for the time wasted.
The booking system did not work as when we arrived, was not in their book and restaurant was fully booked. This is after multiple sms’ the day before confirming and acknowledging the booking. Automated systems no good if they don’t work. Very bad customer experience!! Particularly when celebrating a birthday. Will not use this booking system again as ruined the start of the night.
