   We have been here before and enjoyed the experiance. However, this time not so good. We booked on the app and were allocated the smallest table in the worsed spot ever. We moved to more appropriate table as there were ony 3 reserved that we saw and every one arriving as a couple were being seated at tables for 4. We ordered the 'Sunday Roast' we were not overly impressed. The parsnips were not cooked properly and were hard on the inside and having tried the cauli cheese the stalk was black so we didn't eat it. and the whole meal could have been much hotter & there is a difference between mashed potato and puree (we couldn't lift it with our fork). That all said, the meat was beautifully cooked, the gravy was good and tasty and the yorky was crisp and very nice, so please understand it was not a total disaster. To be fair the lass did offer to get us the Manager but it seemed pointless as we had already eaten as much as we wanted so asked her to just noify the kitchen they had a problem.

   We went for Sunday roast that was recommended from a friend . It was very fast service and the roast was delicious.

   The setting is great, and we were seated immediately. The food was also great pub grub, and both starters and mains came out in good time and were hot. The only downfall really was the service at the bar. Staff nit knowing the drinks and having to go to the bar was a bit of an inconvenience, particularly as they were not particularly helpful. If the service was at the table for food and drinks, this would have made a significant difference to what was mostly a great experience.

   Fish and chips batter soggy, chips burnt, hunters chicken, chicken like rubber, burnt chips again. Won’t eat there again

   A table of 5 of us booked for food before the theatre. Pub was really quiet so we were sat in the main pub area. 4 of the table ordered 2 starters each as mains and told the staff this. The 5th person ordered fish and chips. We had to go back to the bar twice as the fish and chips had not arrived with the rest of the food. We had almost finished eating when my daughter’s meal arrived so then she felt as though she was rushing the food. The food was not good either. 3 of us had the black pudding bon bons and they just tasted of nothing, very poor. My daughter only ate a small bit of the fish as it was very slimy under the batter and the chips were hard. I have eaten here before and not had any issues so maybe a staff issue on the night, with so many nice places to eat in the area then we definitely won’t be eating here again.

   Really miserable waiter when we checked in he was unfriendly and rude shame no name badges It actually looked painful for him to smile. We arrived a little early for our reservation but he denied us to sit down early and sent me away! I could see there was a table free and it turned out to have my name on it! So I went back to him and asked if we could sit there he rolled his eyes at me then when the penny dropped it may be my table he said oh actually that’s your table so yes you can sit there! Food was great no quibbles at all but if your paying staff make sure they don’t upset too many of the customers! We won’t be recommending pied bull purely because staff were rude shirt tempered bar staff also the same seemed stressed not very relaxing environment at all for food

   Our dinner was a disaster from start to finish ! Our Fish Chips were terrible! The chips were old and hard. The fish tasted like it came from a box. We have been loyal customers, but no more. Plus the barman hit our table and our shandys completely tipped over all over the table, it was sopping wet. Our coats and gloves that were sitting on the chairs were also wet. The barman apologized somewhat and refilled our drinks, but by that time we had had enough. The whole dinner experience was ruined. It is sad that we had such a bad time as we always looked forward to drinks and dining at the Pied Bull but no more. As compensation, our bill was reduced by 10%. If this happened at a quality restaurant, the bill would have been zero. We all make mistakes, but we should take full responsibility for the consequences. You did not this time, and we are deeply disappointed. Finally, the chips were old and the fish was not very tasty. It was a low quality dinner. The only good were the shandys.

   Good pub grub. Service was slow but ok. Table needed a good clean, felt sticky. Otherwise, good value for money, fairly busy. I would recommend booking if you want to eat.

   Average meal in Chester. Gammon was rubbery and dessert which was advertised as chocolate tart with raspberries came with one raspberry. When queried with the waiter a dish with two more raspberries arrived. We were seated beside an open door which was draughty and cold.

    Excellent food the steak was amazing! No waste. Husband loved the steak & ale pie too. Very festive & cosy Good quiz not too loud Extremely enjoyable stay
