Unfortunately we did not get to eat at the Phoenix Sunday night due to Hurricane Harvey wreaking havoc on our favorite Texas town. But I have dined at this restaurant multiple times over the last several years to know that the food is excellent and the waitstaff is super friendly. I truly hope that they have not sustained too much damage that they won't rebuild. I can't wait for this town to get back on their feet so we can come and stay and support the local joints.
About the nicest restaurant in downtown Port A we could find. Food and Sushi were very good. A bit pricey for the meal, but I expected that. Scallops and Crab Cakes were awesome!
Took too long for the food and we don't drink alcohol, we felt like our bill was run up because we weren't having wine! This is our third visit we loved it last two times this time we were told extra charge if you want more bread, we ordered a $30.00 appetizer and then we're charged $1.00 for two cocktail sauces and .50 for an extra salad dressing and the menu states you can add a crab cake for 12.00 we were charged 14.00 for an appetizer crab cake! The food is good for the most part oh and you can't sub your vegetable it's full price if you do 6.00 for an order of mashed potatoes!
A very lively restaurant with dining both inside and outside. Inside is quieter and more formal. The outside dining was obviously warmer, noisier and more casual. The food is good and reasonably priced. Without reservations you can expect to wait on a weekend night and parking is a real bear. Definitely one of the nicer restaurants in Port Aransas.
Great food and drinks. The crab claws are the best this time of year. A little expensive $30 but if you have a group its a great appetizer! The sushi Lew is my favorite ! Ruby and Waldo are great too with the Miso soup. Don't forget to try the Phoenix Old Fashion or Lemon drop Martini ! Andi and Victor are friendly servers that makes sure you get exactly what you want. Andi even sang us a lil birthday song!!😄
Great food and bar drinks. The best Phoenix Old Fashion with dark red cherries ! Reasonable pricing for all the food you get. Always the same Great service, great sushi and great bread!! My favorite sushi is Lew and Ruby! Best to make reservation to get a table before 8:00 pm.
Fantastic sushi! Very fresh and prepared as well as some of the best in Austin. Service was friendly, professional, and prompt. Pretty casual atmosphere.
Hostess is always short and borderline rude, everytime, it is almost as if it is a theme??? Peak times , they seem overwhelmed, short handed. It is what it is , I guess. Island peak season.
Great meal for our group of 6 people. Service was attentive and food was delicious.
The fried fish was cod. In Port A, I would appreciate fresh fish caught in the Gulf. At least it wasn't tilapia. The bread is amazing! And the Reubens at lunch are the best!!!
We were visiting in Corpus Christi for the weekend from Houston. My brother in law recommended this place for dinner. The food was absolutely delicious! We would definitely be back
Sushi was very fishy tasting. Food was not worth the price and service was slow.
we have been there 9 times since they opened and have never been disappointed. Always our first choice for dining when we go to Port Aransas on vacation. This is the only restaurant my husband has asked go back and compliment the cooks.
Service was excellent and the crab cakes are some of the best I have ever had. We will eat there every time we go to Port A.
The best place on the island for sushi! Quiet and casual dining.
Great drinks great service and great food. A great place inside or outside bar for a drink and sushi with your hubby or best friend! Closed on Tues/Wed so plan your dining around it! We do!!
Tiana is an outstanding chef! She never disappoints! Always check out the specials! The regular menu items are always great, too!
Understaffed. Service deteriorated - waited excessively for bill. Senseless charges - I.e., extra for olive spears with martini. Reluctant to return.
Great food, and the server was fine, but there must have been a staffing issue. The whole thing took forever, and was poorly timed. Good food and drinks though
If you want really fresh seafood, this is your place. Great service & beautiful presentation, also. One of our favorites in Port Aransas!
When the chef had Cafe Phoenix, which was on a popular Port A restaurant street, the food was not only presented well (still is), but it was incredible and creative.... sadly that is not the case anymore. We used to be excited to return to see what Chef Tatiana would create, and she often came out and spoke to the customers. We have been there 3 times since they moved a couple years ago, returning because we are hopeful that it will be at the level of the old location... We won't return....
Overrated. Crowded tourist location. Uninspired salad bar. Boring menu. Little kids using salad bar unsupervised. I won't go there again
Birthday Dinner with friends
Wonderful dining experience. Love coming to The Phoenix every time we are in Port Aransas.
The food was fabulous from the fried green tomatoes to the Halibut, fried shrimp and crab cakes. Portions are good sized. Candice was our server and was fantastic. Would highly recommend and we will definitely eat here again.
The sushi at Phoenix is as good as I've had anywhere, and I've tried sushi restaurants in the US from coast-to-coast for 20 years.. Considering the price point at Phoenix, it's my favorite sushi joint anywhere. David, the sushi chef, is a maestro!
Relaxing dinner outdoors. Our menu selections were good. Still the best Crab cakes!! The grilled shrimp served on top of green fried tomatos was excellent.
Amazing food and a favorite when we are in Port A!
Outstanding food, awesome variety of food choices, and our favorite meal each time we visit the area.
Excellent food - sat on the covered patio, enjoyed the breeze and watched other diners and their dogs. Very casual and relaxing atmosphere. Fried green tomatoes appetizer with crab very good.
1. Make sure to bring a sweater or jacket if you get cold easily! I was wearing a quarter sleeve dress and was FREEZING! Lots of air vents! Husband was cold too and he does not complain about being cold ever!
2. Service was EH.. wasn't very busy, our waitress passed our table a bunch of times and we probably sat for a good 10 min before being greeted or ordering drinks. Another 10 min for drinks to be delivered!
3. We ordered sushi which was DELICIOUS! BUT you do not get a lot for your money. We ordered 4-5 rolls and each roll was about 6 pieces. Normally when we spend 100$ on sushi dinner we leave with left overs for next days lunch. This was not the case. We had no left overs i was full, however my husband could've kept eating. For 100$ you should not leave a restaurant still wanting more food.
Great food and our waitress was so sweet! They were just understaffed (and every table full) and so it took a REALLY long time to get service / food.
A little disappointed this time around. Had the scallops, one of my favorites, but the outside had a burnt taste- they weren't overcooked, but there was a metallic taste.
Outstanding! We had a red snapper special with avocado slices, bread crumbs and a lemon sauce. It was excellent! Their crab cake was delicious, too. We will definitely be going back!
Sushi Dave was amazing, as always. I had the biggest crab cakes ever...great flavor. Others at the table had steaks and raved about how good they were. I strayed from my usual tuna stack. It's still the best thing on the menu, imo. Besides the sushi...Dave, I'm so glad you are somewhere where the staff is as friendly as can be.
It was a pleasant surprise to find this restaurant in Puerto Aranza. The food was excellent, fresh and well presented. Very friendly service and reasonable prices. Go there!
Always the best service in town!! Andy is amazing!! Love the sushi! Highly recommend for anyone wanting beautiful sushi in a great atmosphere. Port A is very lucky to have The Phoenix!!
Great atmosphere, service, and food was delicious!
Great place, have dined here many times. You won't be disappointed. New Years Dinner set menu was fantastic and no one was rushed. Do make reservations.
We got there for them to tell us they forgot to call us and say there weren't any spots available. They said they have issues with open table.
We dined there to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food was good, but pricey. They didn't do anything special to help celebrate the occasion, even though we mentioned it twice. I'd rate it a "pretty good."
