   We booked for 5:30pm and I arrived at 5:45pm due to traffic. I was informed that I had “just made it” before they were going to give my table away so immediately I felt uncomfortable and apologised. Then at 6:50pm directly after we asked for the dessert menu, we were told we had 10 minutes to free up the table due to another booking. So dessert was then not an option. The time limit was not relayed to us when we booked or even when we arrived. We won’t be back. Food was delicious but disappointing experience.

   Booked for midday. The rush started about thirty minutes later after we had put in our orders. Excellent choices for starters and mains. My choice of oysters followed by steak was excellent. There is an interesting choice of wine and beer. Perhaps prices were a fraction expensive. Service was unfailingly friendly and efficient. It defies belief that after such a quality meal you cannot get a coffee.

   The Petrel was great, we had friends down from Melb, who were very.impressed with the food and service, which is always excellent

   The food was great. We were seated on a noisy table and had to wait for people to be moved though we had booked, near a TV playing football. Lighting so poor we needed phone torches to see the menu. Service OK but not amazing by any means. Carbonated water ridiculously priced in recycled wine bottles. Probably won’t go back but food was very good. Highly recommend food, horrible ambience.

   The cheeseburger and fries were delicious. The crème brûlée was ‘next level’ good. The oysters Kilpatrick were also delicious and the chicken schnitzel, as always, is excellent. Always a good night at the Petrel Hotel with friends and family. Great atmosphere. Well done!

   The service was amazing! Comfortable seating, good ambience and music not too loud. The menu was interesting, food combinations unusual, for example serving lentils with the roast of the day. I disagreed with charging $28 for bangas and mash. I had the schnitzel with garlic butter and it was really good.
