Welcome to The Perch at the Peacock Inn, where each meal is a celebration of community-driven produce and thoughtfully-sourced ingredients. We are continually inspired by our area’s hardworking farmers and by the myriad possibilities of seasonality. It is a privilege to share this moment of comfort and attentiveness with you.
At Perch, our food pays homage to the idea of terroir—that each product grown and raised in our particular corner of New Jersey carries its own individual taste. Our rotating dishes adapt with the changing seasons of the local microclimate, and we work closely with our friends and purveyors to bring you the best in peak season.

Device was superb. Food was good but not as fabulous as I had remembered from previous visits. Ambiance was wonderful
Yummy and so cute in there!!
We'd go back again and in fact are planning to stay at the inn so we can have a relaxing dinner at Perch. We'll also recommend to friends.
I ordered salmon and it was a very small piece so I was hungry after I finished my meal. I live this restaurant but yesterday it just didn’t seem like enough.
The service was impeccable followed by the some amazing drinks from the bar
The grilled eggplant and the beef Tartare are a must try
The tomahawk steak was perfectly cooked and served with the three sides
Will be there soon
The staff inside the bar and the restaurant were very attentive to detail and personable - made for a great experience!
Horrible service last time I went so tried again just terrible waiters wouldn’t look at us and we ordered the soft shell crab twice because it was soo little even though it wasn’t well prepared
The very small oysters placed in a lot of pebbles
Service outrageous left without the second coffee didn’t care if it was in check. Had to get out
Outstanding as always. Right from the start with great valet parking service straight through the entire meal.
Nice outdoor garden setting for al fresco doing when not too hot or cold.
The afternoon tea is very good. A lot of selection for tea and the food is delicious.
This was my (our) first time at the Perch. We had the afternoon tea. It took one hour to receive our Carrot Soup and two different tables received their soup and tiered goodies way before us, even though we came in before them.
The server was nice and helped us pick out our tea.
The restaurant had nice ambience. For the price of the tea and the wait time to be served I don't think I will be returning or recommending The Perch's High Tea. However the savories and sweets were very delicious, I would definitely change the size of the scones to allow for a more traditional tea scone.
We’ve visited the Perch a number of times and unfortunately our last visit was a bit of a disappointment. While overall the ambience and food were very good, we felt that the menu was more limited than we would have liked. Six or seven entrees (if you count the pasta appetizer/entree) with 2 steaks in the list did not provide much selection. And adding ham to the salmon left only 2 selections for the pescatarian in our group. The service while adequate was marred when our server consistently joined the conversation at the table. It was quite disconcerting.
We were in Princeton to celebrate our anniversary and retirements. We stayed at the Peacock Inn (make it your place to stay when you’re in Princeton). We made a reservation for the Perch - the restaurant within the Peacock Inn, and were so glad we did.
The management started us out with some crispy bread with a variety of items for dipping. Next up I had the roasted eggplant appetizer (cooked perfectly) and my wife had the Oysters, also a good choice. We both had the strip steak with roasted potatoes and sautéed mustard greens.. what an excellent combo and plated so nicely! After dinner the management brought us a glass of champagne to celebrate our anniversary (nice touch). The service was excellent (even though they acknowledged that they were short staffed with management filling in as needed to serve the guests), the food was high quality and nicely presented and the ambiance of the restaurant was nice and well appointed.
For anyone in the Princeton area looking for a special meal, visit the Perch Restaurant. You will not be sorry!!!
Brunch Pre-Anniversary celebration
Another outstanding evening and meal at the Perch! Michael and his staff are the best. The eggplant first course was a great dish. The NY strip and salmon second courses were perfectly prepared. This is gourmet dining with down to earth super friendly service.
Great date night! Everything was just perfect!
We will be back..over the experience and those smoking bourbons
Birthday celebration. Food was excellent. Service is a little slow but worth the wait.
My daughter and I had a wonderful lunch together.
There was one other table, which were a little loud but we enjoyed our meal nonetheless. Our server was very attentive.
We thoroughly enjoyed afternoon tea!
Exactly what a quiet conversation-enhancing, exquisite dinner should be. A real treat.
The server, Chris, was amazing. This was our first time at the restaurant so he steered us well through all the best choices. The food was amazing. We had the softshell crabs and the pork chop which Chris recommended. In addition we had the pasta appetizer and the gem lettuce; both were uniquely different but still delicious. Cocktails were equally good. I want to also mention how the rest of the staff at the restaurant made us feel special specifically Mike, Dan and Julia.
Had an amazing evening. Very classy and elegant with great food!
We had lunch on a Wednesday and it was a most wonderful experience, with attentive service, excellent food and very pleasant ambience. Will definitely return.
Very creative cuisine served in a beautiful, well-kept, wonderfully decorated 18th century mansion. The people are extremely nice from the valet to Shaun, the General Manager. We are going back today!
Excellent food and service.
The only issue is the wine bottle arriving after the appetizers were finished.
Fabulous atmosphere & food
Enjoyable night. Food was good, but they could improve things with a broader second course menu.
Used to be great, this time was disappointing, both on variety of selections and taste of food, not standards we used to in this one of the most expensive places in Princeton.
The restaurant is very pretty but the service was off and the food was grossly overpriced. Unfortunately not impressed.
we found all services well performed. Food better than anticipated,
A wonderful experience from start to finish. Excellent customer service and attention to detail from the reservation stage to seating to the meal. The quality of the food, selection of the wine are all superb.
Wonderful! Very accommodating to our children with the menu. Service and Food and Ambiance fabulous!
My 2nd great afternoon tea experience. My friend was also impressed & we had a wonderful girls day, with surprise champagne. Danny was our server & he was great, very attentive & friendly to talk to. Such a nice presentation & classy place. At the end we had another surprise, my husband had called ahead to pay the check!
Staff and kitchen need to coordinate the service of the first corse so that all appetizers come out to the guests at the same time .
Food was excellent atmosphere is cozy but our server Chris tipped the scales. He took our experience over the top when it came to menu suggestions, wine pairing and over all service.
Erick our server was excellent and very personable! Enjoyed our time there
Nice job all around. Great food and attentive service. You won’t be disappointed.
Very good service, excellent food.
