We always enjoy the food. But tonight my husband’s elk Wellington was cold. I ordered the scallop entrée and received one scallop. It was tasty, but the portions were very small and overpriced. Paid $225.00! Overpriced
I was very disappointed with the lack of menu items available at 3PM on new year's eve (2021) even though I specifically asked and was assured over the phone, when I confirmed my reservation, that the lunch menu would have all items available even when when it was the last reservation before the New Years eve especial dinner. There were only two sandwiches available and only one appetizer. The chicken sandwich was fine but the hamburgers were not. The pear salad ended being made of apple! The waiter did not warn me when I order it that they had ran out of pears. I brought my two sons and their girlfriends after raving about this new restaurant that I had tried earlier in December. It was disappointing.
Listen, I understand the unique circumstance of the restaurant preparing for the BIG New Year's evening. BUT, there is no excuse to shortchange customers like this.
We should have at least giving a discount or a small token (free desert?) for the disappointment experience. Nice place but customer service on that particular day was horrible.
Food portions are SMALL. Vegan options are LIMITED. I started coming here because of all the vegan options, but everything I liked has been take off the menu and there are fewer options each time I come. If there is nothing for me, I likely will not come back often.
the noise level is almost intolerable--have to yell at each other to have a conversation
Attentive staff, with a unique well thought out menu.
Hands down the best restaurant in the Lansing area!
Great Food . Like really great . We had the Mad Platter as appetizer . Gnocchi was amazing . Shank - awesome . Beef short ribs were a little dry - get the shank . Key lime pie - awesome . Server was busy but so friendly & was able to come by often enough that we had what we needed . Reservation was required as place was hopping . Great meal.
It took 20 minutes to get my first drink. Then a long time for my salad and 5 minutes later I got my entre but not my wine. Timing for service was just off. I would go back. The food was lovely!
Our server was extremely helpful with pointing out gluten free options, so I absolutely felt safe eating there. The food was wonderful! The only downside to our visit was that we were seated close to the door, and people kept leaving it open as they’d come in and out. We were very cold throughout our visit and had to keep getting up to close the door. But that’s a minor issue - we’d come back again!
Service was very very slow
Great food & drinks! Hidden gem.
It was great as always.
The food is always impeccably thought out and perfectly prepared
The food was terrific. We had four people order four different entrees and all were yummy and interesting. Presentation was beautiful, too. Menu was eclectic without being so weird that it was difficult to understand. My only complaint really was that the chairs were very uncomfortable.
Smaller menu than we were anticipating (did not look online ahead of time, so that’s on us)
Food was good, but service was very slow.
The food was amazing as always. Our favorite is the fried cauliflower!!!
The food is wonderful, although the menu is limited. We dined on the patio, which is covered, nicely decorated and has heat lamps.
Nice meal. Enjoyed the food.
Our waiter was amazing. He was very friendly and gave great suggestions. The food was awesome! We will be back.
Excellent cocktails and small bites. Get the black bean fritters and the Smoky Green mezcal cocktail. So good!
Food was delicious and beautifully-presented. Custom cocktail was creative and tasty. Service was thoughtful and timely. We were moved immediately from a too-noisy under a speaker table to a quieter one, upon request. All in all, excellent.
We went here after seeing good reviews on line as a half way meet between Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids for our group. We were disappointed that the actual menu was significantly smaller than the menu posted on line. The food was well prepared, but the two of us who ordered the scallops were quite disappointed. Four scallops, 2 small pieces of asparagus, and a smear of cauliflower purée on the plate. Didn’t even come close to filling up the 22 yo man in our party. I was embarrassed that I had invited him out to dinner and he left the restaurant hungry, but nothing else on the menu appealed to him. We had to add a second destination to our plans in order to fill him up. I will pick somewhere else the next time.
Food was good, service was good. Music was way too loud, hard to carry on a dinner conversation
Everyone in our party loved their food. Highly recommend!
The food was amazing and a shout out to our waiter who was even more amazing. We love everything about this restaurant. Highly recommend the NY strip.
Absolutely delicious! We had the cauliflower, onion dip, crab melt, bruschetta burger, scallops, cod, and beet sandwich (between all of us) and cannot say enough good things about every item! Plus, the drinks were strong and tasty!! We will be back!
The entire staff was welcoming and efficient. The food was fantastic, spiced, cooked and presented beautifully. We will return!
Service with a smile. Eclectic Menu with just enough variety for everyone in the group, a bit pretentious and over reaching, but food was good.
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner beginning with the fried cauliflower. My husband and I split the NY Strip meal and the Scallops. The scallops were perfectly seared and the steak was nicely seasoned and served medium rare.
Plenty of food and it was delicious! They have great drinks and Rose’ also. We had a very nice waitress and the manager stopped by to check on us as well. Definitely a number 1 on our list!
Wife’s birthday dinner. Was not super busy but bustling. Got our drinks pretty fast, food was good as usual. Staff was friendly.
Food was excellent!
Service was very slow, menu is small, food was just okay. Cocktail menu was much better!
Loved the food and had a great time. As a queer person, it was really uncomfortable being called “ladies” at a table full of non-binary and trans-masc folks….that was disappointing- but other than that we had a nice time
Really cool vibes there but I do wish I would have sat outside instead because it might have been a little less noisy. Food was amazing, a little pricey but worth it in my opinion. Cocktails were so yummy too!!
Absolutely the best meal we’ve had in Lansing!!!
The drinks, food, and dessert was delicious!! We’ll definitely be back!
We shared a bunch of appetizers and had a couple cocktails. Yum, yum! Great variety of foods and yummy drinks. You have to get the peanut butter cheese cake. Addictive!
People's Kitchen was disappointing. It is a friendly lively and nicely decorated place with nice slabpine table tops and somewhat uncomfortable chairs. Our reservations were for 730 on a Friday night and the place was bust but there was no wait for our table. There is covered outdoor seating, which would have been quieter but I did not realise thius when making the reservations. Plus it was pretty warm so I wanted AC. The place is very loud with less than 50 people in the dinning room. Hard concrete floors, painted plaster walls and metal truss and steel panel ceilings don't help dampen the sound. The host dseated us immediately and gave us, menus, water and silverware and then we waited 15 minutes for our server to arrive. My wife had several questions about the menu and in order to communicate them the waiter had to stoop down to the table and she had to talk very loudly. I ordered a margarita and my son got a lite beer and we ordered two appetizers. The drinks came in another 15 minutes and we never got our appetizers. The entre's arrived after another 30 minutes. I ordered the NY Stip steak full size (about 10-12 oz cooked $30) which was tough but cooked to the right temperature, no flavor and it came on a very small portion of soggy/tough brocollini with a light, unimpressive creamed potato puree undrneath which is made with duck fat and is tasty but not enough on the plate. My wife got a cod sandwich and fries which was just ok according to her and the potato wedges were hard and seemed to have been sitting for some time. My son got the scallops which he enjoyed but had same isue with the potato wedges. My margarita $8 came in a 4 oz glass filled with ice and was gone after two draws on the straw. It was tasty, but again, not a good value. The waiter appologized for us not receiving our appetizers and blamed the mishap on miscommunication with the kitchen or the cooks, and removed the items from the bill. Overall, disappointing and not a value.
Great atmosphere, incredible food. A new favorite!
Love the original and creative menu, the cocktail and wine selection. Erin is becoming our favorite server! Every employee we encountered has been so welcoming and hardworking and proud to be working there. Love the colorful and artsy vibe. The music was a little loud, but it was just a minor nuisance. We had a great date night!
