The Penthouse Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
While the food, service (at least in delivering the food and attending to the table) and ambiance are excellent, my party of four were given the list of specials for the night without the waiter telling us the prices. While most dishes on the menu were in the $30 - $50 range (pricey but actually worth it), I assumed the specials would be in the same range or slightly higher. So specials-wise, my wife ordered the Lagoustinos ($69) and my friend ordered the porterhouse ($110 !!!!). I picked up the check and YES, when you assume... so shame on me. But would it be so hard to tell your guests the prices of the specials??? I didn't want to look like a tightwad, so I didn't say anything (again, shame on me). What I was expecting to be a $300-ish bill came to $491. I really like the place and lesson learned, but I can not in good conscience recommend the place when this is the way they conduct business.
I went for brunch on Saturday. I've been a couple times. Great ambience, light, bright, lots of windows and great views. I had the short rib hash which I usually get. It's amazing! As usual, the service is very slow, and hard to find servers for long stretches of time.
Unfortunately it was so loud that we could not enjoy our brunch very much. We asked to be seated in a quieter area but that turned out to be just as noisy, due to music blasting, bad acoustics and loud guests. The ambiance seems wonderful at this place, but not so much the actual reality of having a meal here.
The ambiance here is wonderful. There are views of the ocean from
most tables. The service is outstanding.
We were here for Sunday brunch and it was great.
The food is fresh and cooked to order and served
with flair. I would highly recommend this restaurant
for any meal.
Each time I've been here has been delightful. First, the view is fantastic. Second, the food is excellent. Third, the service is knowledgeable and attentive.
The desserts deserve special commendation.
I haven't been here at night, so I'm not sure how the dinner service is, but the city lights view may be as terrific as the daytime ocean.
The sound level was way too high, we could hardly converse. The table we had wasn't really giving us the opportunity to see the view. So that were 2 downers. The food was good and awesome in presentation. But for the overall price I was not impressed.
The food was ok, we ordered prawns and a salad, which cost us $93, which wasn't a great value. Two regular plates would have been a better value, so that was out mistake sort of. They didn't know how to handle our gift card, so they made me wait quite some time so they could figure it out, at one point telling me I needed to wait 15 mins for the manager that knew something to show up, which was pretty rude and a poor experience. The Greek salad was tasty and the prawns were decent, just not filling.
