Made a reservation for a Sunday Brunch. Really nice view and nice restaurant the Mac and cheese was surprisingly very good
Waiter spilled ketchup all over my shoes. All he said was “oops tried to do too much” didn’t bother to get me anything to help clean them or even apologize. This was his demeanor the whole time as if he didn’t want to be at work or acted like he was doing us a favor by taking our order. The manager Emilio finally came over and brought me club soda to help clean my fabric shoes. That act came day late and a dollar short, he offered “parking on the house” which was $7 and to dry clean my shoes they d pay the bill. What they should have done is offered a reason to earn our business back
The Penthouse was great! The salmon, grilled vegetables and chocolate mousse were the best I’ve ever had. Service was top notch. I wanted to complain about the wait time but once I got to my table, I saw why I was waiting: To give us space with COVID protocol and make sure we had the servers’ undivided attention. I even appreciated the detail of being sent on the elevator that took me to my room instead of the one for non-hotel guests. The Penthouse was definitely worth it.
The booking procedure I thought was a little obnoxious. Needing to put down a cc and then there were so many rules! Also when we got there, the hostess said we needed to wait till our party all arrived and we needed to be done in an hour and a half. We were guests in the hotel! She ended up seating us and we were able to stay longer but the whole check in policy was tacky. That being said, we really enjoyed the evening and the service and food was good! We would go back
I love it here..me and my boyfriend come atleast 3 times a month
I was a bit disappointed as I specifically notated on my reservation that it was for a birthday, I guess no one there reads the notes?
The food was great especially the truffle lobster mac and cheese.
The service was outstanding
Overall nice restaurant, great food. Was cold so I recommend bringing a sweater. Highly recommend getting there before sunset to take in the views!
Excellent experience overall. Service was the best from valet to leaving the restaurant.
First time. Beautiful space with great views. Food was good but Service could’ve been much better. Will come back but not anytime soon
Beautiful location. Food ok but not great.
Our food took an hour to come out, it was very cold, the manager argued with us and tried to make excuses for the food being cold and did not apologize. Afterwards he agreed to bring out a substitute dish, which came out fast and very hot. So his original excuses for the cold food didn’t make any sense. Very unsatisfied and will not return.
A one of a kind hidden gem in downtown Santa Monica, this is a wonderful choice for a romantic dinner, group gatherings or cocktails. The views are amazing, and the service is good. Our server was a bit busy - it took awhile for dessert to arrive, but he continued to check in to see how we were doing. COVID protocols are in effect here. You must wear mask in the lobby and any time you are not eating or drinking. Tables are socially distanced or if you are in group, one of the tables with curtains are recommended.
The food is all farm fresh, selected daily from local fish and farmers markets. Our appetizer was Spanakopita, a thin film dough, generously dressed with Spinach and feta sprinkled about. Our entree choices for night were Mary's Chicken and Ora King Salmon. My husband enjoyed the seasonings and vegetables but he thought it was little tough. My salmon was seared to perfection, filled with flavor and complimented the side dishes.
I recommend this for ambience and novelty, as this hotel has history and has advantage of not being part of chain of hotels. Unique. One of a kind. It is artfully designed, and the restaurant decor has recently been updated. Fantastic evening vibe where you can watch sun set. And the staff are all very friendly and helpful. I will return here
Loved this restaurant! The view was beautiful. We didn't get a seat directly next to the window but it was still beautiful. Food was delicious. I had the chilaquiles and they were perfect. We will definitely go again.
Location: 10/10 Hotel building on a quiet street. Valet parking $7 with Restaurant validation. Weekend was so busy with hotel customers checking in and out. Parking is a hassle so do it.
Food: 6/10. I went here for the weekend Brunch apparently all the yummy foods on their menu are currently not offered maybe due to Covid. It’s OK but not wowed!
Service:8/10. Walked in from the elevator designated to the restaurant express ride, but when leaving it was broken so we took the hotel one and that took forever.
Walked in and we had to wait another 5-10mins to get seated.
Our server was really awesome, we were seated where we couldn’t get a good view either and was told Cabana seat was for party of 6.
Overall: 6/10. I won’t be back for the brunch until they change their menu for more delicious meals. Matter worse they served the assortment pastry and all I saw was just plain regular pastry I could get anywhere. Best thing on the table was the fresh Oysters for me that’s it. May come back and try the dinner but, if I don’t get the view I’m not dinning.
Your servers need proper training as how to serve customers , very noisy Restaurant , portions are a little small
The ambience and food was great however I did have to wait almost an hour from my reservation time to get seated. Not sure if the hostess was being discriminatory or not but I did see several people come in after me and my gf and were seated quickly. I think if you have to put a deposit on your reservations, guests should not have to wait almost an hour to dine. I would recommend this place as a one time experience.
Hostess was amazing and very accommodating.
Good food and customer service was amazing, ambiance was great as well
great food great view and great service I will come again.
More then what we expected our server was amazing I would highly recommend!! Amazing food worth the $$$
Took our friends to jointly celebrate their 29th and our 17th wedding anniversaries. We’ve been there before and hoped they would enjoy the experience and it didn’t disappoint.
I love it here. Food was great
Our server was fantastic & the food was exquisite! (**the lobster Mac & Cheese was just OK) I requested a good view & should have clarified ocean view bc we were seated on the city side. In addition, I would have preferred a booth (w the chandelier) instead of the boring table that we were seated at. Overall, good experience.
Beautiful atmosphere. Nice views, and modern decor.
Experience was great! As always the food and drinks were amazing.
Very happy with my experience. My party was unfortunately late and they still accommodated us and got us seated. Alexander was a great server and the two ladies at the host stand were extremely kind and welcoming. It was a great time. Thank you Penthouse
Great ambience and outstanding service. Food quality is good however, limited options for vegetarians.
It was my husband’s birthday. Everything was awesome.
Celebrating a new chapter here. Thi is one of my favorite places ever food is incredible the view and ambiance are incredible. LOVE !!
Thank you to the team. We were running late for our time and calling them a couple of times they helped move our time. Food was great and the staff was very friendly.
awesome view awesome food
The Penthouse is easily one of the best restaurants in Santa Monica, especially to take a date. The service is excellent.
Service was kinda slow. Took a while to order drinks. Charcuterie board was pretty good but truffle pizza special wasn't that great. Beautiful location and nice ambience. Drinks were good and strong. Overall really nice place.
Amazing dinner for my anniversary food was great amazing experience!
The oysters. Actually there wasn’t one thing we ate that wasn’t incredible. The waiter was fun and the manager bought us a round of drinks. What a great night.
The food was amazing, I would 10/10 go back for it. The ambience and scenery was just as beautiful as well.
