Delicious food and great views but way too noisy! An upscale restaurant should have sound deadening features in the walls and ceiling!!

A superb place for brunch from the sensational views to the delicious food to the friendly waiters. We had a party of 7 in a booth by the window overlooking downtown Santa Monica and had a fantastic time. A big thank you!

Went to The Penthouse on a Tuesday night to celebrate Valentine's to avoid the circus that holiday has become. The place is beautiful, the food was great, and our waiter was amazing. I had made a note that I wanted a table with a view and that I have a gluten allergy and they addressed both issues very well. The only thing that I wasn't crazy for was the noise level. It was a little loud for my tastes, but the overall experience was great. Most important of all, my little lady was happy and that is all that matters to me at the end. Thank you Penthouse for a very nice evening.

I love coming here day or night! The view and decor are spectacular. Drinks are delish and food is reliably good. We ate lobster mac n cheese, lamb chops and the beat salad.

The host and hostess were so rude I almost left. It’s like they were paid to make me and my guest feel we didn’t belong there. The food and wait staff were wonderful but it didn’t quite make up for snooty/bougie attitude of the host staff. Surrounded by people taking pictures for Instagram and scream-laughing over mimosas was fun at first and then a nightmare when the place filled up. It was so loud we couldn’t even speak across the table.

The food was very fresh and well put together. The platting was beautifully done and the food was well seasoned and cooked to perfection.

The service was a little slow, took roughly 1 hour after apps to receive our meals.

I’m a vegan and there were not many vegan options on the menu. I ordered the side of market vegetables, expecting a tiny plate of fancy kale. To my amazement, a gigantic platter showed up filled with - and I kid you not - about 12+ different kinds of vegetables, all cooked and marinated to perfection. It was delicious, filling and inspired. The cocktails were wonderful. The service was excellent; attentive without being overbearing and courteous without being stuffy. The views are marvelous. It gets crowded on weekends and is more of a “scene” then. If you want a quieter romantic date or swanky business meeting, consider a less crowded, more chill weeknight.

Went for bottomless mimosas to celebrate my birthday with my girls on a Sunday. Felt uncomfortable after being told to lower our voices when we weren’t even being loud or obnoxious. Other tables around us were louder (felt like we were targeted because we were women of color). What’s the point of having bottomless mimosas at a place where you can’t even laugh and have a an enjoyable time? Will not be coming here again.

Definitely a a top notch place all around. The food was incredible, so were the appetizers. We were greeted right away and since we had RSVP, we didn't wait long to be seated. The ambiance was very welcoming and elegant. Loved the decor, the view of Santa Monica and great customer service. I'm definitely coming back.

Food was absolutely great. Service was subpar. But the worst was the hostess. We have NEVER been treated with rudeness like this. I could go on and describe the negative vibe we had from the moment we entered, but I don’t even want to, because it just makes me mad. We’ve been there many times, and might go back, ... but only for the food.

The worst of the worst Bloody Mary I have ever had in my life Water down tasteless. The restaurant is cute and clean and lovely. The host wasn’t friendly. Didn’t greet me when I was standing right in front of him. It was like you should be happy to be here. The food was ok the waiter didn’t really explain things. Had to ask for things. I think if they try a bit harder the place would be wonderful since it has beautiful views of the ocean. I still would recommend but for sure do not get Bloody Mary and don’t expect too much from the food. It’s good for the views and very cute set up. We still enjoyed ourselves.

If you are going for the view, you need to book a window seat and not melt from the sun shine. Beautiful view! Menu variety a little on the low side- had the salmon starter twice which was yum. Waitron could be slightly more attentive. Two sets of people came, ate and left in the time we were there due to lack of attention. When we wanted to order main, we called the waitron and he said he will have to see if the kitchen will still take our order. We weren’t informed that the kitchen was closing or the time thereof. Waiters recommendations were good and probably will return.

We love the Huntley and the Penthouse. We stayed as a couple January 2018 and had many breakfasts and a couple of other meals in the Penthouse then. This time we brought our family of 3 adults with us. It was very disappointing. Too loud to converse. The food was great but delivered too fast and we were not told the starters were big enough to be mains. A very expensive 90 minutes. We won’t return.

Food is mediocre and inadequately described on the menu. A gem romaine salad with asparagus turned out to be a cucumber and tomato salad. Fish tacos were more deep fat fried breading than fish. Not the quality found in nearby restaurants. Apparently they feel the stunning view makes up for poor quality food. This was a DineLA menu which in other restaurants we sampled over five days in Santa Monica and Venice were all superbly excuted. This was an embarrassment to the program. Service was barely courteous too. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

The Penthouse was a disappointment today. Our table of 4 celebrated my colleague's birthday. Our waitress seemed to try her best but the overall experience simply did not live up to the reputation or prices. One person asked if the "grilled organic gem" salad actually had grilled lettuce. The waitress said yes, it did. The salad had no grilled lettuce and only an anticlimactic "grilled" avocado. We ordered 3 wagu burgers. The 2 ordered medium-well had completely pink centers and none tasted like wagu beef. The desserts came out wrong but we accepted it as the meal had already taken a long time. Finally, we asked the waitress to add a candle to one of the desserts. 3 out of the 4 desserts were on the table and it still took 10 minutes for the final dessert to arrive - and our waitress literally had to light the candle 2 tables away from us.

The most irritating part was that a manager stopped by twice - to ask how everything was going - when our meal had not even yet been served. He clearly avoided us as soon as the food bit our table. The service was slow but we accepted it. Our 4 person lunch was 1 hour and 40 minutes.
