We celebrated my birthday and even though the outside heaters weren’t working the staff was very helpful in getting blankets for my parents to keep them warm. The mimosas were delicious and every bit of food was amazing. I definitely want to go back for dinner.
Very limited menu and selections not good. Stay away from the mac and cheese and coconut poke bowl. Beef tacos are good and very "mini". Excellent service but did did not feel that I got overall value and probably won't return.
I would highly recommend the lobster truffle mac-n-cheese!
The best experience! The food was amazing and they were a little late seating us because a couple wasn’t leaving. They made room somewhere else with what they had right away and gave a complimentary champagne! It was so nice!
A much reduced menu than advertised. It is not the Penthouse menu, the venue is moved to the terrace restaurant. With a much reduced menu
The Penthouse is closed. This is a deceiving reservation. Waste of time. The normal establishment is located at the Penthouse level of the Huntley, I’ve been numerous times. They brought us to this ugly patio on the 2nd floor, no views, facing walls, no heaters, and super windy. People all around us were shivering and looked miserable. When we asked, “is this the penthouse?” the manager (with a straight face) said “yes, this is the penthouse”. We sat down for 3 minutes, it was SOO cold, nobody offered heaters, and nobody seemed interested in how their clients felt. We didn’t want to have a miserable dinner, so paid for valet, and immediately left.
Never again 👎🏼
We only had cocktails and dessert. The whiskey sours weren't well mixed, but the desserts were delicious. They moved dining from the penthouse to the terrace. We miss the view.
They did a great outdoor service. Highly recommend!!
Went to the Penthouse for dinner to celebrate my birthday. I wasn't sure what to expect in the middle of a pandemic with outdoor seating on the terrace. It was set up just as beautifully as the indoor restaurant. Service was excellent and food was delicious. We are looking forward to the next dinner there soon!
The food was so good. My husband had the steak and I had the salmon. Everything was extremely good and tasted very fresh. I was extremely pleased with the flavors. I will definitely be going back.
Excellent spot for special occasions! Recommend coming here for any time of the day!
Food was excellent. We had the salad (something-or-other gems), short rib tacos, salmon and apple tart. All was excellent.
The salmon was cooked to perfection, wonderfully tender.
The menu is not large, but everything we ordered was excellent.
Because of COVID-19 precautions, they were serving on an outdoor terrace on the second floor, with lots of space between tables. It was a Wednesday evening, so there were actually empty tables improving the distancing.
I would've never went to the Penthouse for my birthday if I knew I would not have a Penthouse view therefore it was not worth the price. Sitting on the 2nd floor patio was underwhelming to say the least.
I was there for my bf’s birthday And I chose this place according to yelp’s photos and informations they didn’t mention the rooftop is closed, due to covid we supposed to be outdoor I don’t know why they closed the rooftop which is outdoor and just have a indoor second floor restaurant open. the main reason I decided to go there was variety of their food and nice view. There was no view at all and it got worse when we found out their menu has just 3 main dishes. I’m really disappointed . Expensive and not worthy at all. But the steak was delicious.
Used OpenTable to make a reservation and we were offered a table for 2 at 5pm -- under COVID we were informed that The Penthouse is actually closed but seating is now on the 2nd floor terrace.
When we arrived at 5pm we were told to wait at the door to be shown to our table. 5 minutes later we were told it is open seating. 5 minutes later we were told to wait for a table. 5 minutes later we were greeted by a waiter and told 'sit wherever you like'.
We chose a table and then asked about our reservation and were informed that dinner doesn't start until 6pm and we are currently under open seating.
Seriously. We made the best of it and ordered charcuterie and a bottle of wine to kill the 1 hour wait for the kitchen to serve dinner -- but, clearly there's a failure to communicate going on in many dimensions. We won't be back.
I will go back after covid. Rooftop closed and they are doing their best on the second floor.
Wonderful experience. Knowledgeable and courteous waitress.
Really great service great food great experience overall would recommend everyone to try this place out best ribeye ever tasted ooooouuuii forsure goimg back there
Girls brunch
Outstanding experience, celebrating a milestone Birthday --We had a small private tent for our party of 6 in a corner table, which made it a special evening, seemingly just for us, unaware of other diners! Quiet atmosphere in our little cocoon and attentive service. Offerings were excellent overall, though selections were limited and ala carte, very few appetizer, soup and salad selections, except the cheese and charcutrie plates, but the dessert was delicious. Book very early as we reserved on Monday for Saturday night and barely got it!
Not great for big parties right now (covid) but perfect for two or three!
Good time, small birthday celebration!
Terrible service
Waited an hour an a half for food manager was beyond rude
The Covid setup on the second floor was still chic. The food as always was spot on.
They have moved the dining to 2nd floor terrace. The menu feels a bit limited but these are COVID times.
They have set it up nicely and the food was good. Service was a bit slow and I ran out drinks/water several times without finding someone in a timely manner to please refill. All in all would still recommend, nice ambience.
Decent scene. No views though. Good food and drink!
A beautiful space tucked into the heart of Santa Monica. The food was great (cheese plate has an outstanding European selection balanced with tasty Mediterranean sweet bites), and the service was fantastic. Servers could not have been nicer or more attentive. Thank you for a wonderful night!
Phenomenal service. Truly outstanding. Cocktails were good! Food was lesser so. Tables weren't separated very well, and only second floor terrace is open so going there is really only about the food.
Because of the pandemic the penthouse is closed and they’re serving on the 2nd floor patio. The menu is very limited and the food was not impressive. I would compare it to plated fancy wedding food. The truffle fries and the tuna tartare were good. The salmon was pretty but fishy and not that good. Same with the salmon crudo. Fishy and not good. The saving grace was the chocolate mousse. Really glad we got it. We were hoping for the soufflé but again, limited menu. Overall I would say eat there if you’re staying at the hotel and don’t want to go out but don’t go there just to eat until the main kitchen opens back up.
It was amazing Emilio Eliades who was the host and manager treated my wife & I like VIP that man has style finesse and this place is beautiful. The food was delicious our server was attentive at the right times and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend this place it’s romantic and perfect scenery
Everything was good!
Not the view they normally have pre covid . However, this space is cozy , quiet, elegant and comfortable .
I will visit again .
Excellent experience. Will be back!
We came to this restaurant at the Huntley Hotel on a Monday evening for a date night/nice dinner. We were disappointed that they moved the restaurant to a patio on the second floor instead of up on the rooftop with the view. Usually the food is pricey and it's okay because the view makes up for it, but in this case there was no more view and it was still expensive.
DineLA was going on so we decided to try their 3-course menu. We ordered different appetizers which were both very good. The Ora King Salmon Crudo was tasty with a lovely presentation - looked and tasted delicious. The grilled Romanesco Cauliflower with other veggies was really good too. Also loved the plating and presentation.
The truffle pasta entree was also good with a very large portion to our surprise. The truffle wasn’t amazing but it was good.
The desserts were good too. We liked the apple dessert much more than the chocolate one - It was very very chocolatey.
Food and service was great!!! I’ll be back again!
The only disappointment was that it should have been on the Roof (hence the name Penthouse). So no view; however, everything else was exceptional.
The Mediterranean Seabass is delicious. Also I adored the Chocolate Mousse Cake
The meal took 3.5 hours for us to get all of our food and pay. The unfortunately wasn’t very flavorful, and even though we did DineLA the total for 6 of us was upwards of $700 and we left hungry. A waiter unfortunately dropped a bottle of champagne a table over from us and a few members of us had glass hit us, but no one ever came over and checked if we were ok.
Very disappointing unfortunately.
Amazing food. Went for dinela and was so worth it. I can’t wait to go back.
Had an excellent time at the Penthouse restaurant, which has set up a lovely outdoor patio to comply with COVID safety measures. The service and food were fantastic—special thanks to Rachel and Emilio for taking great care of us!
