The Penthouse at Mastro's, Beverly Hills
Wonderful place. Good food. Nice service. Would definitely go back again.
I have gone to mastros many times and this is the first time I ever have a compliant . I do not know if it’s the sushi I had or the steak but I have been extremely sick since eating dinner there. I know it’s that because I immediately felt sick the day after , I am
Pretty disappointed for the price I paid
A very upsetting experience.
The place looks nice and the Saturday night we visited there was a line outside.
The food was good. The service was just terrible. It was wrapped in a smile but people clearly didn’t care. It took them ~20 minutes to figure out they were out of the bottle of wine we ordered. We were asked if we want the bread, we said yes, didn’t receive the bread. When we waited for our steak for a good 40 minutes we were morally prepared for, the steak we received was wrong. The waitress said she thought we ordered this steak. Waiting for the right steak for another 30 minutes. This time with a manager’s help and a few reminders we’re getting bread. Eventually, there is food, it’s good or it seems to be good because we have waited for so long. “Was it worth the wait?”, I get asked by the waitress. Not the 1.5 hours. Waiting for our sorbets for dessert for another 30 minutes, asking for a check realizing it’s not coming. 10 more minutes - and the check is there with our dessert. The waitress said they took care of the steak. They didn’t.
With so much work trying to get your food to the table you may as well go hunting. It would be faster and people wouldn’t be lying in your face.
We always have a great time at Mastros. We were a little hesitant because we usually dine in the steak house because the penthouse is usually loud with a DJ playing music to a younger crowed. However, our experience in the Penthouse was fabulous this time around. There was a piano and live singing there and since it was similar to the steak house experience we felt completely at home. The only thing we missed was our favorite drink, a dream berry martini. But, that was diffidently not a show stopper. Can't wait to go back.
This was the best Mastro’s experience yet! Everything was perfect, from the ambiance, to the service (Dane was the best!), to the outside view! We will be back very soon!
The place is nice. Food was good. The server was mediocre. It was like he didn’t want to be there. The seating was terrible. We were sat in the middle of two other couples. It seemed like we were all together. I could hardly hear my girlfriend because the other couples were also talking.
Great Valentine’s Day spot. The girlfriend and I really enjoyed the A5 Japanese Wagyu served alongside a sizzling hot stone while waiting for our main courses. It’s sure to have people at other tables turn their heads to watch.
Every dish had a beautiful presentation and everything tasted amazing. Kudos to the attentive and polite staff at Mastro’s. You guys made the experience memorable and worth the $$$.
Went for valentines and the food was amazing. Such a fun experience. Definitely expensive but worth it for special occasions
It was our first time having Mastro’s. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about all the menu items. The drinks were tasty and strong, very well balanced. We had the New York strip and the boneless ribeye, both cooked to perfect medium rare. For our appetizer and side we got the charred octopus and deconstructed elote. The charred octopus had that perfect crispiness along the edges and the elote had a great grill flavor to it. For our desert we got coffee and warm butter cake. The butter cake just had the perfect scenario going on, contrast between temperatures, textures, and taste. Would definitely recommend for everybody to try this place if they haven’t already.
Valentines Day Celebration
We saw Stevie wonder the legend!
Me and my wife went there to celebrate our 3 year wedding Anniversary. We had a great time.
Always great! Amazing ambience, delicious food, and good service! Always 5 stars. Thank you !
I took my man here to celebrate his birthday. We sat outside and overlooked the city. It was really nice and romantic. The staff was amazing and made his birthday unforgettable. They even gave him a card, and the dessert was amazing. Definitely will be going back.
I rarely spend over $400 for dinner for two as we dont drink. Everything was fabulous. Steak and sides were top. I was disappointed at the blue fin appetizer. 40 bucks for the same amount of fish I could get on a 12 dollar sushi order. Very scant portion and they doused it with a sort of vinaigrette. I couldn't taste the bluefin. They could have put a low grade ahi under that sauce and I would never known the difference. Need to fix that one chef.
The steak selection was truly top notch. Great Kobe selections. I ate the rib eye cap cut. Excellent except a tad too much seasoning. Please take note chef that i want to taste the premium beef i bought. It was still delicious.
Service was perfect.
Ambience and decor was a more casual setting with even a TV on the wall over the bar. Nice change up but i like the dimmer steakhouse motif myself. Very pretty nonetheless.
I will come back but go downstairs and get my tomahawk.
Loved everything, the whole experience was amazing!
Amazing service and outstanding food. They made you feel like you were their only customer. Highly recommend
They changed their menu. Everything seems much more expensive and the choices are very limited. I couldn't even order a side of fries. The first lemon drop martini me and my friend ordered was not good.
Tasted as if the bartender forgot to put vodka and lemon juice in it. He re-made it but it still fell very short of what I had grown accustomed to at Mastros. Very disappointing. I will not go back to the new Penthouse but I will go to Mastros.
Exceptional food and service. Ambiance lively, fun and great for a special occasion or date night.
Everyone who worked there was very professional and kind. The balcony at the penthouse was a little cramped but it was still beautiful. They had nice live music. The steak, plates, and sides were piping hot. The leftovers were even more delicious. Will definitely be going back again.
The service was slow
I love this place. It is energetic, the food is great; and the key lime margaritas are potent. My kind of place!
Horrible experience!
If this had been my first time there, I would have never been back.
But it has definitely left a long time negative impact on me returning anytime in my near future.
I will not be having my yearly Birthday there anymore....
Had to stand 45 mins, even though I had a reservation for my birthday.
After being seated by the busiest location in the restaurant, it took us a few times to ask for bread.
I ordered first, but somehow got my food last.
My friend had to return her soup because it was cold, and it still wasn’t heated properly.
My chocolate martini container was filled with entirely too much ice, and even though I put my finger over the top; the weight of the ice slide forward , causing my drink to spill all over me.
No body offered to help me clean it, nor offer me another drink.
It had so much ice, that my drink tasted like water. One of the only reasons, I enjoy coming, is to get the chocolate martini.
After being there so long, waiting on service and my food. I ended up being almost 2 hours late to another reservation party that I paid for.
Extremely horrible experience!
The food is nice but over-rated and overpriced. The service was great.
I would definitely suggest a reservation, and then showing up 10-15 min prior to that reservation. As long as you do that you should be seated timely. Meanwhile the upstairs bar is a great place to hang out while you wait. Come prepared to spend good money because the menu is excellent, and makes ordering and choosing just one think too difficult. Wouldn't recommend for kids, but that's just personal preference.
My steak was frozen on the inside.
We loved our dinner at Marstros! The live music in the penthouse was perfect. We were seated on the patio which was just beautiful. The portions are very large and everything we had was delicious. Would recommend!
My sons birthday
Overall it was a horrible dining experience to celebrate my bestfriend’s 50th bday.
Place & ambience- tables were closed to each other. We litterally sit right next to the other table and hear their conversation. Very crowded monday night.
Service-our waiter John was not friendly nor welcoming compared to Newport or Malibu Mastro’s or other fine dining restaurant I go to. He didnt introduce himself. I had to ask him whats his name. He didnt checked on us while eating is our food is good. I even had to remind him to bring my friends cake. Despite his bad service, we still gave him 20% tip.
On the other hand, Juan- who refills our water is amazing and friendly and attentive to our needs.
Food- was delicious as I expect.
To summarize, Mastro is my favorite restaurant thats why I brought my friend there to celebrate her bday but I would NEVER come back to this Beverly hills branch. I’d rather go to Malibu or Newport beach where service is impeccable. I would Not recommend this restaurant due to poor service. I would rather go to Waldorf Astoria to eat.
Phenomenal everything was perfect
We chose Mastro’s to celebrate my mom’s birthday. This place never disappoints whether for a special occasion or gathering. The service is wonderful, the food-delicious and ambiance- perfect.
It was my 30th birthday and everything was great except the lights were so dim majority of my guest couldn’t read the menu. 1st time there and the steak was awesome.
Server was not prompt throughout whole meal
We had an amazing dinner and overall experience. Our server was very friendly and extremely courteous and attentive. Thank you Mastros! You never disappoint us!
Amazing from start to finish. Great 25th birthday dinner.
Staff was very attentive, We were sitting near a large loud group, and they ask us if we like a quiet table to move to. Also, I ordered Spinach salad not realize it has a beacon in it which I do not eat. The waiter realizes it before I did and exchange it before they even serve it. It was my birthday and they gave me a complimentary very large piece of cake. The food was fantastic and the service was great.
Highly recommend it. Thank you for making my birthday a special one.
We love this place! Nice area, good service, fantastic food. The only thing was not really happy was the valet but we overlooked them. Have come here for mothers day, my wifes b day and just to chill and get a good meal.
Overall good but expected better food especially for the price. Been to other steakhouses with better tasting steaks and sides.
Perfect, just perfect. You can’t compare to any restaurant in Beverly Hills,
Our friends are visiting for Miami. The penthouse was the perfect balance of great food and ambiance. Must tries: Chilean SeaBass, Chefs Cut Ribeye, and shathe King Crab
