About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Great for brunch
Situated in the bustling heart of Dupont Circle is The Pembroke, a sophisticated dining destination. Featuring contemporary American fare with global influences, The Washington Post’s food critic Tom Sietsema described the experience as “cut from a different cloth." The Pembroke’s stunning design by Martin Brudnizki features plush velvet coral-toned banquettes around glossy marble tables, cream-paneled walls with playful artwork, and boasts panoramic views of the neighborhood, while a seasonal terrace offers al fresco dining from spring to fall. The marble-topped bar is a bright and airy nod to cocktail bars of the 1950s and features classic drinks with a twist and a selection of fine wines. Reserve your table today to see how “The Pembroke makes Dupont Circle a destination again.”

Brunch: Our waiter was lovely. He was polite and helpful. The restaurant is pretty. The food was below average. Firstly, some items were already out. Our vodka Bloody Mary’s were so salty, we could not finish them. The jumbo cinnamon roll was okay but other than being huge, there was nothing at all special about it. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich and could not get thru the chewy and stringy prosciutto. I ordered the eggs florentine, but received traditional eggs Benedict. And on top of receiving the wrong order, it was cold. I do not send food back for obvious reasons, so sadly, we will not return. I hope they were having a bad day, but honestly, there are so many brunch spots in DC, we shouldn’t have to settle. We never mind that food is a little pricey when you are getting a beautiful restaurant with delicious food and a great experience, but this was NOT good and not worth the money.

We celebrated my wife Teresa’s birthday at The Pembrook this past week, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about the experience. From the moment we walked in, it felt like we were being welcomed home by old friends. Abbey, the hostess, greeted us by name and walked us right to our table—such a simple gesture, but it made the night feel special right from the start. The vibe inside was warm and classy, with just the right mix of elegance and comfort. The food? Absolutely incredible. Chef Christian is working magic in that kitchen. Chef Christian came out to our table to say hello and check in on us. He took a few minutes to chat, ask how we’d been, and wish Teresa a happy birthday. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare these days, but not at The Pembrook. Every dish was better than the last, and just when we thought we were wrapping up, he surprised Teresa with a beautiful birthday dessert—completely unexpected and such a kind touch. They even brought out a few thoughtful gifts, which just blew us away. What really sets The Pembrook apart, though, is the team. Adam at the bar mixed up some of the best cocktails we’ve had in a long time—creative and perfectly balanced. Arty, our waiter, treated us like we were longtime regulars or even part-owners. And Kyle, the Assistant GM, made a point to stop by and check in. He was friendly, down-to-earth, and clearly cares about making every guest feel welcome. It’s not just about the food (though it’s amazing), or the ambiance (which is beautiful)—it’s the people that make this place so special. The whole team made Teresa’s birthday feel like a celebration for all of us. If you’re looking for a place where the food is top-notch, the drinks are spot-on, and the staff treats you like family, The Pembrook is it.

Nice atmosphere, good food, fantastic service. From the hostesses all the way to the maître d'hôtel, and in between Victoria was the best: attentive, formal, responsive, interested in us, and knowledgeable about the restaurant’s offerings.

This restaurant was really a disappointment. The service is not good. The food was mediocre at best. There’s so many better places to have brunch in DC.

Service was very nice. Food? The sausage pasta had VERY little sausage. The vinegary mushroom side clashed severely with the nice filet mignon. So the food was disappointing. Lovely ambiance in a great location though!

Food and service were excellent. Pricing was high-moderate, but not outrageous for DC restaurants. While the place was busy, sound level was still reasonable and allowed conversation. Would highly recommend for special events.
