Beautiful decor, lovely (sunny) setting. I was so happy to see some brunch options that were a little unique but not over-the-top unusual.
Service was fantastic. Waiter didn't rush us, didn't seem to have any issues letting us enjoy our meal and conversation.
I didn't really have issues with the price points on the menu, but drinks were on the pricey side, so a good spot for one drink with your meal, perhaps not more.
Stunning serene space, with thoughtful decor touches and an upscale yet Comfortable vibe. I have to eat gluten free and they accommodated admirably, and knew their stuff so i felt safe ordering an amazing roast chicken dish and octopus appetizer.
Delicious lunch in a nice setting.
This is a beautiful restaurant no doubt. The service is great etc. but the food is average to below average. For an expensive restaurant - you have better options in DC to choose from. I’d go here for drinks and apps but skip the meal.
Great ambiance, service and food! Love it!
We were well-served and amply fed in a delightful atmosphere.
We had a great time at the Pembroke, where food, drinks, the ambience and the service all made for a great evening with friends.
Server was too fast at every step inc giving us our check right after we received our desert. Potato-leek soup not very good. all other items we had were fine
Service was amazing. Food was delicious. Environment was elegant. I will return...and hopefully it'll be warm enough soon to sit on the patio!
Dear Leslie, Thank you for your recent review of The Pembroke! I am so glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to our restaurant, and that everything met your expectations! We hope to see you again soon - the weather is looking patio-ready as early as next week! Best, Taylor
Overall nice place. Food is priced on the high side for what it is, $5 for a side of avocado and one half of a small avocado comes on a plate.
Been coming here for the last 10 years and it's changed a lot as we all have, the upgrades are glorious, thankfully the staff remain. Closest we have to a neighborhood place where everybody knows your name, glad this place still here.
Dear rufkdlk, Thank you for your recent review of The Pembroke. It is true that we have gone through some great growth and changes over the past ten years, and I am so happy to hear that we are still one of your favorite spots in the city! We look forward to welcoming you back soon! Best wishes, Taylor
The food was really delicious, albeit very expensive. The ambiance was truly the best part, its a beautiful setting. The service was slow on a Sunday, but the location is so nice you don't mind waiting.
We were so excited to try The Pembroke for brunch. I arrived on time at 12p and checked in with the hostesses. They informed me they were “preparing my table” and I could not sit down until the other guests in my party arrived. There was an empty table by the bar (ended up being our table) the entire time I waited for my group to arrive, so seems silly to make me awkwardly wait by the hostess stand rather than just seat me, but I obliged. Once we sat down, our waitress came over & was very friendly. We ordered drinks (mimosas and a coffee drink). Our drinks, I repeat our drinks, did not arrive until 45 minutes later. Apparently they ran out of milk for the coffee drink and had to get it from a different part of the restaurant, so rather than coming by to tell us that...we learned it 45 minutes later. We placed our food order, four entrées. It was not until at least 35 minutes later that the manager came by to tell me my dish was no longer available. The waitress was kind enough to get us a round of mimosas on the house. While she was extremely friendly and apologetic, I do not think that we will be back to this restaurant. It seems like they were overwhelmed with the amount of patrons and probably understaffed. The venue itself is very pretty and has a garden-like environment to it. But we all agreed that The Pembroke is a one and done experience for all of us.
Food is ok. Service is VERY slow, but if you are trying to live your best Instagram life this place is for you. Beautiful space to wait a very long time for everything.
This was the first time eating at The Pembroke after hearing from my mom how wonderful it is. She was so spot on with her recommendation. I enjoyed the farrow, quinoa, butternut squash and arugula salad with poached eggs. The light filled space and wonderful service will hopefully bring me back in the near future.
Great Valentines meal at a wonderful establishment. I would certainly recommend!
We went here for the first time on Valentine’s day when they had a 3-course prefix dinner menu. The ambiance and decor were aesthetically pleasing and the service was good. The challah bread was to die for and the amuse bouche very yummy. My entree (Halibut with forbidden rice) was also delicious but my fiancé’s entree which was steak with lobster tail was disappointing. While the steak was cooked to his desire, the lobster tail didn’t taste good at all. The desserts (Rasberry chocolate torte and blueberry shortcake) were good but nothing special. Overall, I give this place 4 stars for the experience.
Thank you for a stellar meal and for treating us like royalty. The food was delicious and service was perfect.
Atmosphere is absolutely great for Sunday brunch.
My husband said that his breakfast was the best that he'd ever eaten! He had the egg-white omelet. The crab benedict that I ordered was outstanding -- as always!
Visiting my partner’s daughter who attends GW, party of 4 2 adults and 2 18 yr. olds. Kierra was our server; polite, she seemed displeased in our choice for beverages-water, “tap” water as she described. We could have been mistaken but her attitude reflected unhappiness. Daughter tasted good though. The little salad (greens) were ok. Ordered side of Forbidden rice (my fave); it was undercooked $5.We had attentive service and our server did check on us. When time came to clean the table one of the service employees dropped silverware on my partner’s jacket. It was the Pomodoro sauce from the pasta. I immediately notified the server and they said they would get something to clean it. We were brought 2 packets of “Shout” wipes. Greasy stain didn’t come out; asked to see the mgr. He came to our table, I showed him stain after attempts to clean had failed. Instead of comping the undesirable steak or even offering a discount he merely stated “Use Dawn soap when you get home.”He gave his bus. card and said to send him bill for dry clean. We were flying out next day?! Mgr Joey Zucconi took our bill and cheated us our change (.40). Small beans but seriously, who does that?! We left 20% tip. Won’t request refund for dry clean and will NEVER return. Never been to a place that indiscriminately kept change!
The staff was great and extremely gracious. But we were not fans of our meal. The lamb with couscous was salty and tough, not tender. The snapper was bland and tough, and the coconut rice lacked flavor. Probably would only visit again for a drink at the bar.
It was good but very expensive for what you got
Excellent time. Excellent food. Excellent service. Buddhi is always the best and this was no exception. Special thanks to the General Manager from across the pond (London) who we had a great interaction with. Looking forward to going to one of the chains in Europe.
Thanks... and looking forward to the anniversary event as well.
The price is a little too high for the quality of the food and wine.
The setting can't be beat! Love the light streaming in. The service is very attentive, with only one hiccup (removing yummy crackers before we'd finished).
Great very knowledgeable waiter
I love the place. It’s new, stylish and tasty.
The food and the service along with the wine choices and cocktails were great. It does lean to more on the expensive side.
Great brunch
Beautiful room
Excellent service
Our waiter was excellent. Food was very good.
We had a lovely time at Pembroke.
Everything was great and the sound level was the best.
They have the best Latte in town
Only an oddly flavored bloody mary at brunch was less than outstanding. Otherwise the Pembroke is a supremely civilized restaurant we love for special occasions
The Pembroke is amazing! I am vegetarian and their options are phenomenal! The staff were all so welcoming, accommodating, and personable. The ambiance was beyond anything I could have hoped for.
From the moment we arrived till our departure, excellent in every way.
Excellent meal and service, looking forward to going back!
Although the food was good, the reason we thought that this restaurant was great is that the atmosphere was conducive to conversation and the service was outstanding. Although we ordered only salads and then tea & coffee, we were treated as if we had ordered the most expensive items on the menu, and they gave all three of us little gift bags of delicious cookies.
This is the fourth time I have been to The Pembroke, and my experience has been uniformly excellent. As a Christmas present, my sister gave me $100 to use at The Pembroke or another restaurant of my choice. I invited a friend who had never eaten at The Pembroke before. She had the beet salad, the halibut, and the creme brûlée, and was continually going “mmmmm.” I had the chestnut soup, the chicken, and the chocolate tart. The only concern I had about the chicken was that, although it was very tender, I chose it because I love chanterelles, and the chanterelles were not recognizable because they were so small and shriveled.
Went for Winter Restaurant Week. Food and service was top notch particularly for RW meal. Very pretty interior. Only critique was it was loud space with sound reverberation. Would come back for a special occasion.
