Excellent brunch caring wait staff despite how busy. The manager can’t remember her name greeted guests discussed issues related to food and menu descriptions and cared we enjoyed this birthday brunch. I would definitely return
I loved brunch at The Pembroke! The ambiance, color scheme, and lighting were beautiful. I ordered a simple brunch of avocado toast with egg, smoked salmon, and side of berries. The waiter was very attentive and polite. There was plenty of seating both inside and outside. I will absolutely be back.
Topnotch service. Bar was a little slow. Food was very good to great. Had the dover sole meuniere. Size of the portion was almost overwhelming. The appetizers - prawn cocktail and octopus - were delicious as was the wine. Definitely would return.
The food was very delicious and the service was very attentive. The prices are on the high side even for fine dining of this caliber.
Amazing French toast
Celebrating a birthday and couldn’t have been nicer!!!
My husband and I went to The Pembroke for lunch on my birthday. The food was great. I had mussels in coconut curry - it was so flavorful and the portion size was perfect. The octopus starter was tender and had a great kick to it. And the warm bread - yum! Our server was wonderful: friendly and very attentive without being intrusive. We had one small issue with an app that he didn't make excuses for, he just quickly fixed the issue and that was that. We'd decided to skip dessert because we had been made content with the apps and our entrees. Our server asked what I would have picked if we had dessert and then brought out that choice (the berry tart - yes!!) on a plate with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate. It was lovely. We had our 7 month old daughter with us and the staff was very considerate of her needs and forgiving of the mess she left on the floor. We will for sure be going back to check them out for dinner, which I understand is fantastic!
Great food... great place... very much enjoyed our gathering with friends from out of town.
The service was friendly, but very slow. The ambiance had a bit of a Miami vibe. The food was decent but overpriced and, truth be told, I wound up with a terrible stomach ache an hour after leaving (I had the Greek salad and crab ravioli).
Excellent food; it deserves the great review it got from the Washington Post. But it is pricier than most places in the area.
I thought the food was good, but a bit overpriced. Coupled with the so-so service, I thought the value wasn't great. But the restaurant is very pretty, and the bar is quiet so would definitely recommend it for a drink and maybe a snack.
Unreserved praise. Service and food were superb. We had the oysters, scallops, crab cakes, and crab ravioli, and after eating each, we challenged ourselves to come up with a similar dish that topped it - and on two, we couldn't. We went on a quiet night, so I don't know what the noise level might normally be like, but we're certainly going to find out. Best restaurant I know of in the DuPont Circle area.
Need quiet tables away from music for seniors who can’t hear very well.?
Menu options limited — but very nice. Was looking forward to a lamb tagine that reviewers liked but it’s been replaced by chicken tagine. Still tasty. Decor a bit on the gratuitously glitzy side. Service excellent
Fresh squeezed juices are wonderful, delicious food, excellent service.
Hotel restaurants have stepped up in the last several years and this is one that excels on all levels. The decor is warm and inviting; the service is professional, friendly and knowledgeable. As for the food, you got me with unbelievable foccacia served with softened butter! We then shared a half portion of the ricotta ravioli, filled with wonderfully fresh crab. For entrees, I had the Dover sole, my BF had the Asian style snapper; both were fresh and tasty with wonderful sauces that did not overwhelm the fish. We also enjoyed a side of wild mushroom fricasee. A bottle of Raeburn chardonnay was the perfect accompaniment to the food. We ended on a sweet note with the apple galette. A Dupont area winner!
Best food in DuPont area. Very selected ambient.
Great food and service!
Service was slow even though they used multi-server approach. Servers mulling around tryin to look busy but tough to get their attention. Place a little more than half full.
I had Greek Salad to start which was good. Then the Branzino which was ok but sent out on too small of a plate and the fish was folded over on itself. Not what I'm used.
Not going back anytime soon.
The food was delicious and the wait staff very attentive. But it was FREEZING cold with all the AC. We originally wanted to sit outside, but it was too hot and also smelly on the street. Ceiling fans attached to the awnings over the outdoor tables would have helped. And please turn down the AC in the restaurant.
My first time here and I loved it. The place is quiet and inviting and service was as good as I’ve ever experienced. The food was outstanding and inventive. My next trip to DC will include The Pembroke.
Sat a that bar for lunch and ended up fighting fruit flies throughout my whole dining experience. Food was on a bit of the cold side.
This is a new favorite - I went on a Tuesday night so it may be noisier on the weekends but fine for conversation during my visit. Try the ravioli and the greek salad if they're on the menu! One word of caution - look at the wine list before ordering wine by the glass. You can unknowingly end up with a 34 dollar glass of wine - delicious but unintended.
The Pembroke is new and there is some favorable buzz about it. I dined there early on a Sunday evening with a friend. The space is very attractive and it seems to be set up to be quiet. The food was disappointing: I ordered grilled salmon and it was mushy, without texture, and flavorless. The prices are high, and I expected cooking at a serious level. Maybe the chef was off on a Sunday. Whatever the reason, this was not a pleasant experience.
It was okay. The food was great but they messed up our order a few times... The manager came by and she was very nice and friendly and apologetic. She wanted to compensate for us. I believe it's because the place is relatively new.
The food is really good! The atmosphere is really cool. I love the booths and the overall design!
Really disappointing. Would not return. Service was super slow, and food was not great. One of us ordered blueberry pancakes, and when our food came out 40 minutes later no blueberries. They had run out. They took it off the bill but not a great experience at all.
We got wonderful service from Matthew, and outstanding food. The octopus in particular was delicious! We’re neighborhood locals and will definitely be back.
Great place for an elegant lunch
By far, one of the most beautiful restaurants in DC. The service and food are a match for the venue. I've had fish there every time and it's cooked perfectly. The staff is charming and attentive, but not hovering. I just love this place.
Everything was great. Comfortable table, food fresh and tasted wonderful. The service was great as well, my only comment would be that this was a business dinner and we were in the middle of a conversation when the server would interrupt to ask their question. It happened several times, that is why I noticed it. I would just say the server should be coached a little to wait for a pause in the conversation. It happened each time right in the middle of a sentence by my customers and there wasn't 'excuse me, may I...' it was just 'let me tell you about our specials'. The wine was good also, but suggest offering a second Cabernet at a more moderate glass price. The only glass of Cab was $35.00. That's a bit steep.
Lovely spot and Jose was super attentive and informed. We didn't get to taste widely from the menu because 3 of 5 had the crabcake apps -- fab-- and steak -- loved. The pasta was so fresh and when I noted it was spicey altho not advertised as such, they remade it for me. Son loved the chicken terrine. Look forward to returning.
Great location, simple menu for lunch. Dishes were great quality. Beautiful sunny cheery room. I will definitely be back.
My fourth time at this restaurant. Good quality overall. I would make sure restrooms don’t smell as fowl as they do. Good service and attractive setting.
It was a beautiful evening in DC. Had table right next to large window so felt like we were eating outside with advantage of air conditioning.
Restaurant has cool vibes with salmon leather upholstered benches. Service was spotty but food was delicious
Overall a very good dining experience. The food is great. Innovative menu well executed. Service is professional
Beautiful place and top quality service. The only draw backs might be a limited wine selection by the glass and also limited app and entre selections. Food overall was very good and nicely presented. I would recommend Pembroke for a nice romantic dinner or business lunch and dinner. Parking is challenging I would valet at the adjoining hotel but be ready for the 20 dollar price tag.
Loved the openness of the space. Also loved that we were able to have a good conversation without having to strain to hear. The chicken tagine was cooked to perfection.
Great food, excellent atmosphere, outstanding service!
An exceptional place, food and especially service. And the wine presentation is exceptional.
