Excellent service and food. Catered well for gluten free guest - very knowledgeable.

Only issue which is out of their hands was a really loud group and because my hearing is bad, we left a little sooner than we normally would have.

Can't fault the staff or food though!

Nice place, plenty of seating inside and out in pleasant surroundings, bit of intrusive noise from the A4 mostly motorcycles!
Service good, food good but I do wish it was a bit hotter especially the plates, maybe it's just an older person thing.
Obviously renovations ongoing as I had to duck under a power cable on the way to the gents!
We would visit again.

The pelican has just had a refurbishment (August 2021) both inside and out. It looks amazing the garden has a lovely eating and drinking area which looks onto the pond, plenty of space for children to play.
Inside everything looks new.
The food and service is as great as it always has been.
I will be going back soon.

Service needs improvement, bar staff are trying to describe to you where your table is instead of showing you, no-one checks if the meal is ok and if there are any problems and it’s hard to get someone’s attention if there is something wrong as they are all flitting in and out. It’s clear they need more staff because the staff that are working, don’t have enough time to be fully attentive.

Found this restaurant whilst on holiday on the kennet and avon canal. What a find!, as we don't eat meat we were concerned there wouldn't be enough choice. There was lot to choose from, it was a hard decision! I can thoroughly recommend the falafel bites with sweet chilli dip, followed by a wonderful Greek salad with side of sweet potato fries. We were too full for desert, but the menu did look tempting. We will definitely be returning!

The food was classic pub food, good enough to visit again. Our table needed polishing and the area we were in lacked pictures and personality. Very nice helpful staff and as a casual night out was it a nice experience!

The ambience has been vastly improved by the new owners and they are still working on enhancements. The staff are friendly and eficient. Everything on the plate was well cooked and presented but what really impressed was the cooking of the roast meat (beef and lamb) - it tasted like the cooking and resting had been timed specifically to be just ready for us in the middle of the afternoon. Not many kitchens seem to manage that!

The Pelican is a beautifully decorated pub and has a really good menu with plenty of choice for food and drink. However, the food wasn’t good at all. The starters had very little flavour. My husband ordered the Sunday roast and it was cold. I ordered fish and chips and the chips were filled with oil. The fish was ok but again, it needed seasoning.
We came away very disappointed…

My first meal out indoors for 18 months. Felt safe enough but it was rather busy at times which is fgood to see but also a little overwhelming.
Food was good but not exceptional, my roast beef was rather tough but still tasty.
Thanks to the staff who were working flat out.

We only wanted a light lunch, chose the fish and chips. A mamoth portion of delicious fish beautifully cooked, the rest to match. Had to forgo some of the chips due to repletion.
Taped music not to our taste and the new decor needs more people to make it feel less clincal.

Great food, typical pub chain menu. Disappointed that they did not have any soya milk for a cappuccino. Much improved under new management with changes ongoing, so one to watch.

Brilliant, careful service from staff here at lunchtime. Cheerful, helpful and attentive, whilst taking care to maintain social distancing.
The room was spacious and set up to ensure we were apart from others so could enjoy both social distancing rules and talk easily.
Food was good, in particular the Burger was delicious. The Knickerbocker Glory was a delight to eat, a real treat.

Lovely looking pub but we wanted something light to eat like a sandwich or baguette with a bit of salad garnish rather than a main meal and there was nothing like that on offer so we ended up having a drink and some crisps and peanuts!
We knew that we were having a 3 course dinner somewhere else later so didn’t want to eat a main meal but a sandwich would have been lovely.

Nice country pub with friendly staff. Unfortunately the 'super food' salad seemed very overpriced given it was mostly simple raw vegetables. We were expecting it to have more unusual 'super food' ingredients. The roasts were excellent though.
