Disappointing - while the food was decent, the service was dry and lacking. Not coming back.
Slow service, average food
The service was friendly and attentive.
The tables a very close together and the table of 4 next to us was celebrating a bit too loudly.
The appetizers were excellent, however the entrees were lacking. The steak was chewy and the food was a bit cold.
The value for the spend wasn’t there.
The server was very dry, almost patronizing and did make the dinner less pleasant than it would have been with a waitress that has the right attitude.
We almost felt like living no tip on the bill because of her :(
We got to sit at the bar with our favorite Kurt. Great food as always!
One thing I love about this restaurant is the consistency..it is always good
it's not pretentious, or loud . the food and the service is consistently good,
A truly exceptional place! Outstanding food, wonderful ambiance & very knowledgeable staff! The bar turns out really great drinks, & the staff is brilliant at recommending a wine to accompany your dinner!
We're fortunate enough to have been visiting them for several years now, & it's always nice to be not just recognized, but to have drinks & favorite appetizers remembered as well!
This is definitely a favorite place for us, and we'll continue to be loyal customers as long as they'll have us!
Have eaten here before and was mildly disappointed this time. the cheese topping on the onion soup was really thick and tough; my wife's cheese fondue was also of a tougher consistency. The bone marrow, which I was surprised and delighted to fine on the menu, was excellent, although I would have preferred fewer bread crumbs which partially masked the flavor.
Lamb shank was awful. I love braised fall-off-the-bone lamb shank (and osso buco) but this was tough and NOT slow-braised. The supplied butter knife is normally more than sufficient for braised lamb shanks, but the heavy steak knife supplied for my friend's spring chicken (?) was clearly what was needed to pry the meat off the bone of my lamb. And it was tough, gristley and dry, again the opposite of what it is supposed to be. The woman at the table next to ours had it too, and she had the manager called over to tell him that it was "horrible" and to take it off their bill. So it wasn’t just me. Braise properly or take it off the menu. Finally, the tables are WAY too close together. The "lamb lady" listened to and stared at our four-top conversations non-stop, to the point of being embarrassing. Our wives sitting on the banquette side could barely squeeze past the tables to get out, which is too close. If we come back, it certainly won't be as a foursome.
We took our elderly mother for a special dinner. The staff was great. The food was very good and was not just the run of the mill choices. We asked the server her favorites and she did not disappoint. Wine parings are offered with each entree and those were spot on, too. We were not rushed and were encouraged to have an enjoyable stay. We will go back.
Booked reservation with belief/understanding brunch was served on both Sat. & Sun., based upon info. posted on both Open Table & the restaurant websites; when seated discovered brunch not available on Sat.
Service was INCREDIBLY slow – despite the fact we were the 1st party to arrive for the day & restaurant was not particularly busy. Overall impression was staff didn't care to be at work.
Spicy Ahi Poke Tower Appetizer was the highlight of our visit.
Margherita Flatbread was rather bland.
Black & Blue salad tasted primarily of fried onions & lacked a sufficient amount of romaine lettuce
Sadly, I won't be returning to this restaurant.
I took my husband here for his 60th birthday and we had a fabulous meal. An excellent menu of comfort food with style and the service was outstanding!
Service was horrible--very inattentive and had to ask several times for things. Waited 10 minutes for waitress to even address us and then didn't come back to take order for at least 15 minutes. Food should have made up for the lack of service. Food came out fast once ordered, even beat the cocktails she didn't put in for us....Sadly, only the fritters made up for it. Will not be going back.
The food came to the table warm, not hot. They were understaffed and the service was quite slow.
This place has a worn tired feeliing. It could definitely use a facelift.
The salmon was very good but the steak was tough. Would expect a better cut of meat from a Rodney Worth restaurant. Caesar salad was good as were the martinis.
Wine prices are very high. As an example, Joel Gott 853 Cabernet Sauvignon is an inexpensive wine that can be purchased at Costco for $11.79 for the bottle. A glass here costs $12.00! And the bottle price is $44.00 which is a huge markup. We opted for a different wine which must have been stored in the kitchen by the stove as it was very warm.
Always a favorite of ours, great food and great service. Rodney and his staff do a great job with the food and the service. My wife and I love going to the Peasant & The Pear.
Don and Nancy Johns
Always a great girls night.
Decent but not awesome. Food was flavorful but sides were luke warm at best. Service was ok. Restaurant was nowhere near full so I found it odd that with all the empty tables that the host attempted to seat next to the restrooms. We asked to sit elsewhere and she obliged. She was also good to fill waters in the absence of the server. Sever was ok. Friendly but seemingly green.
This was our first time at this restaurant. I was extremely impressed! The food was great and the service was even better! Definitely plan to return!
Great location. Ambiance is nice and perfectly noisy. Food is great with excellent service.
Nice spot to relax with friends.
Food was excellent and service is outstanding. Our waitress was very good, attentive, never ever have to call her attention because she already knows!
It was such good food! Reasonably priced also. A great place for a nice quiet evening with great service
Always great food and service. One of the most consistent restaurants in the Danville area!
The Cobb Salad is fresh and delicious. The house bread and rosemary butter is fantastic. My companion had the meatloaf, which they don't usually have on the menu, and it looked so great!
The service was awful. The Brussels sprout appetizer was forgotten and should have been comp’d for being late. The menu offered very little for someone with diet restrictions.
Service was attentive and professional. We had a very long business dinner and never felt rushed. They also cleared the table next to us so we could spread out a bit. Only problem it was difficult to find for my Uber driver because the address is the main drag but the actual entrance was from the rear. Perhaps better directions on their website would have helped.
Rib-Eye Steak was' heavy-laden' with cartilage, an unexpected disappointment!
Even though I've moved out of the area, I make it a point to dine at The Peasant & The Pear whenever I'm in the Danville-San Ramon area. Rodney Worth continues to offer a tasty menu utilizing in-season ingredients. The waitstaff and greeters are always courteous and helpful. I like P&P's Bishop Ranch Salad and the lamb shank is the best I have had in an East Bay restaurant - moist, flavorful, and very tender. There is an eclectic wine list that is well-chosen with several wines available by the glass. The cocktails are always well prepared. In the warmer months, we have sat on the patio which is nice.
We ordered the breakfast pizza, pulled pork sandwich and the cowboy hash...
all VERY heavy...prepared and presented in a mediocre fashion. Was expecting more.
Excellent service and food! Our friend had a birthday and they brought out a chocolate cake with a candle! Warm pear dessert was so delicious too!
Only complaint is we had three hot waters but they only brought out two containers and they were never filled so we had to keep requesting more hot water??
The Peasant & Pear always delivers on food, ambiance and service. The peartini is a favorite. Mallory, our server was lovely and patient with us "girl gabbing" and not being ready to order despite repeated attempts on her part!
The food here is always good. The service, though, is amazing. Suzanne has always been absolutely perfect.
Enjoyed a salmon filet over the Bishop Ranch salad. Simply perfect.
I went there on a Friday night for their Italian Lamb. They ran out... on a Friday night🙄!
I love this place. It can get a bit loud on a busy night. I love the food and the atmosphere.
Awesome place. Good food and great service. I felt it was romantic especially since we went for our anniversary. A bit small but wonderful decor.
Best Cobb salad ever! Great service too
Always a great meal.
I have dined at the Peasant and The Pear various times and find their food constantly delicious, their staff attentive and nice and their new bartender a hoot! Love going there for lunch. Have not had dinner there.
Best fondue ever!! They also have delicious lasagna which I wish they left on the permanent menu.
