Discover downtown Danville's hidden gem! The Peasant & The Pear, located along a brick pathway behind the Danville Clock Tower, owes its name to its rustic cuisine, and to its location in the agricultural region that once housed the world's largest pear orchard.

Executive Chef and owner Rodney Worth, voted "Best Chef" a record NINE times by the readers of Diablo magazine, honors the area's history by offering delicious, unpretentious, seasonal menus that showcase the very freshest ingredients available which has earned us the distinction of being a Michelin recommended restaurant and a Zagat rating of 4.5.

Whether dining in the warm, Tuscan-style dining room, outside on the large private courtyard, or at the antique Parisian bar, you'll be wowed by the fabulous food, the great selection of wine & spirits, the staff's friendly and knowledgeable service, all offered in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. We look forward to having you join us for a meal!

I took my wife to this restaurant. It is her favorite although the last time we were here it was her birthday 3 years ago.
After considering other places to eat I decided on The Peasant and the Pear.
I had the salmon meal with cream spinach and califlower rissoto. At first my salmon was under cooked. I informed our waitress who apologized and took it back.
My dinner was returned. It was so good. The pear quesadilla that we had as an appetizer was delicious. Even though it has been over 3 years prior till Monday, our dinner was flavorful and tasty. Best service ever. I recommend this place to everyone.
I mentioned to our waitress that it was my wife's birthday.
After dinner they brought out chocolate mousse with the words "Happy Birthday" scribbled on the plate with chocolate. It was beautiful.
Even with the small glitch it was still beautiful.
I recommend this place to everyone.

The service was excellent. Timing of each item was perfect. The grilled shrimp and French onion soup are highly recommended. My steak and frites was done perfectly and the pairing of wine was spot on. The noise level was a little high but we were also there at prime time. We shared a pear dessert and it was excellent. It was a little pricey but for a wonderful meal it was worth it.

We love this restaurant and come back over and over and are rarely disappointed in the food. The service is always top-notch and the room is never excessively noisy, which is a rarity these days. Let's hope they keep up the great work!

Very nice restaurant within walking distance of everything. Ambiance is great for a nice evening with a significant other. Food was very good (Fondue, Mussels, Steak/Frites). The service is excellent as everyone (immediately from the host) is very friendly. Highly recommend for a nice evening out.

This restaurant is easy to overlook or forget about. Not a lot of fan fare or splashy entrance sign, but the food is first class. Every aspect of our meal, from the salmon crostini starter, to the pear and blue cheese salad, our amazing entrees and finally delectable desserts, was outstanding. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive, but not overwhelming. She had a great sense of time and presence to make our meal flow perfectly.

For a foodie this place is heaven and as a place to have a quiet romantic meal its hard to beat in the East Bay. 5 stars!

We had a very nice lunch there. Tomato bisque soup was good. A little too oily for me but my luncheon partner enjoyed it.
She had the quiche with the soup and I enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich. Would certainly repeat visit.

We had a great seat by a window and the room was relatively quiet. Ordered a salad and wanted bread to go with it. We waited awhile for a server so we could request it and were told that they only bring bread upon request. The bread was inedible. Focaccia that was dry and very old. Not worth the calories. I don't know why they bother. The salad was nice and the mushroom pasta was fabulous. Our service was intermittent. It felt like they were understaffed for the night. I've been to P and P before and I'll go again. Overall, it's very reliable providing a quality experience.

Has lower ceilings that absorb sound well, so it was easy to have a conversation. It’s nicely decorated, and when we went parking was super convenient. The filet was a big 10 ounces, and after dessert I left full. It took about 20 minutes to get dessert after I ordered it. We sat down about 7PM and left just after 915PM. I’d go again.

We booked a reservation and were given a raised table in the bar area. Food and drink are pricey; $15.50 for a Grey Goose vodka martini.

Two out of two outstanding dining experiences! I ordered lasagna this time, duck last time. My hubby ordered 40 cloves garlic chicken, pork chop last time. Both meals were amazing! Hubby said this may have been the best chicken ever, that said a lot! Highly recommend!!!!!!

We have been here many times. We tried lunch, dinner, indoor sitting and outdoor sitting. We particularly love their outdoor sitting, which is quite “Frenchy”. That always reminds us the time we had in France. The service is fine overall. The foods is just average, but the ingredients are fresh.

Been to this restaurant several times but today was awful. The food was ok but the service was horrible. Received our appetizer amd water at the same time. Waited 15 minutes for water, then food took even longer. Water was never refilled and our server didn't even bother to ask if we needed anything. Finally had to flag him down to get check. Never again. Horrible experience.

Dinner with friends at a new place to us. We had reservations at 6:16. Table was ready and we were seated as requested at a quiet table to accommodate our friend with hearing problems. We shared starters, Brie and pear quesadilla which was very bland and pearless, and a ahi which was really good. Service was adequate. Entrees were Steak and fries, which was rather tough and unseasoned, a pork chop was ok, and the pasta with mushrooms, again extremely bland. Overall food is maybe a C and service about a B. Nothing special and not worth a trip from outside Danville.

We often forget this restaurant but so glad that we went on Saturday. Our guests were impressed with their dinner and we all enjoyed ourselves. The service was exceptional but I think next time I will ask for a different table as we were seated at one by the kitchen and it was a little distracting. The cocktails were great too!

The cinnamon fritters were tasty but cold. For fresh doughnuts, warming them would have been better.
The service was quite slow and not very attentive.
I asked for egg whites for my omelette and it arrived with regular eggs.

Nice atmosphere.

Brunch with friends. 2 raves about cowboy hash. Not a crumb left on the plate! I had salmon Benedict. Salmon excellent and poached eggs and sauce perfect. I would prefer an English muffin over the ciabatta bread it was served on. Too thick. But overall still yummy. Hubby had their version of an old fashioned and I had the Pimm’s rose cocktail. New to me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Only disappointment was salad arrived with all plates instead as starter course. Wait staff apologized and took charge off bill.

I celebrated my friend's birthday here. It was very nice. The food was excellent both in taste and presentation. I loved their version of a waldorf salad. We both had an affogato for dessert. So delicious! Our service was tops, and we appreciated not being rushed.
