Discover downtown Danville's hidden gem! The Peasant & The Pear, located along a brick pathway behind the Danville Clock Tower, owes its name to its rustic cuisine, and to its location in the agricultural region that once housed the world's largest pear orchard.

Executive Chef and owner Rodney Worth, voted "Best Chef" a record NINE times by the readers of Diablo magazine, honors the area's history by offering delicious, unpretentious, seasonal menus that showcase the very freshest ingredients available which has earned us the distinction of being a Michelin recommended restaurant and a Zagat rating of 4.5.

Whether dining in the warm, Tuscan-style dining room, outside on the large private courtyard, or at the antique Parisian bar, you'll be wowed by the fabulous food, the great selection of wine & spirits, the staff's friendly and knowledgeable service, all offered in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. We look forward to having you join us for a meal!

Brunch with friends. 2 raves about cowboy hash. Not a crumb left on the plate! I had salmon Benedict. Salmon excellent and poached eggs and sauce perfect. I would prefer an English muffin over the ciabatta bread it was served on. Too thick. But overall still yummy. Hubby had their version of an old fashioned and I had the Pimm’s rose cocktail. New to me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Only disappointment was salad arrived with all plates instead as starter course. Wait staff apologized and took charge off bill.

I celebrated my friend's birthday here. It was very nice. The food was excellent both in taste and presentation. I loved their version of a waldorf salad. We both had an affogato for dessert. So delicious! Our service was tops, and we appreciated not being rushed.

This is our "go to" neighborhood restaurant and have been multiple times over the last year. This time I wanted to leave a review as they just introduced the Winter menu. Everything looked great and we had the excellent Coq au vin. Will be back soon to try the rest

We were in for lunch once again with friends and my daughter. Food is always delicious and generous portions. Service is just wonderful, very friendly staff and really pay attention to tables. My friend had left an important envelope the day we were there and Heather contacted me as I walked in the door to alert me that it was there and I could pick it up. I feel that this is going an extra step and it was deeply appreciated. I would gladly recommend this restaurant to everyone. If you have not tried it you should! Thank you and have a beautiful day. May God Bless!

My husband and I came here for dinner. First off the service is on pointe, the food and drinks came out quickly and our server was good.
The only downfall is the prices are a bit crazy, they definitely get you on the drinks, $14 for a cocktail is unnecessary!
We started with a bowl of French Onion Soup which was amazing. My husband got the lamb shank which too was incredible. I had the Bishop Ranch salad and a Margharita Flatbread. The flatbread was disappointing. Way too much cheese! It would be great with about half the mozzarella. The salad on the other hand was light but filling.
Overall the service and food were great but prices were a bit high. Don't necessarily get what you pay for.

Service was beyond compare. While waiting the manager came by to subject some drinks and snack. Nice touch. Server was also quite exquisite on explaining wine selections.

My wife and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with a number of family members. Our table was waiting for us and our server was very welcoming. We ordered several different appetizers and a nice assortment of entrees. The food was great and they treated us to a very nice cheesecake with a “Happy Anniversary” inscription.

It was our first time there but I’m sure we will be back again.
