I took my wife there to celebrate her birthday. The food was very dissapointing. Specifically, the deconstructed beef Wellington was terrible, (The fact that it was the most expensive entree on the menu @ $40, just added insult to injury). The so-called filet mignon I order (medium rare) had so much tough sinew throughout it could not have been the filet cut. The puff pastry cup used to carry the mushroom mixture was cold and entirely unappealing. We waited long enough and paid enough to have expected a nice warm tender flaky pastry intended for eating, and not just something to transport the mushrooms. Finally, the mashed potatoes the steak was on was cold. Unfortunately, our waitress knows nothing about any of this because she did not check in with us after the entrees were delivered. She returned around 20 minutes later to ask if we wanted dessert, and said nothing about the pile of food remaining on our plates. She obviously did not want to know... And given that it was my wife’s birthday, I put all my energy into making light of the situation, focusing on the positive, (the mussels appetizer was good), and looking forward to enjoying our cake and champagne at home. No more Peasant and the Pear for me!

I pride myself on being a foodie, having dined in many places all over the world, I've lived in San Francisco for 40 years . I was truly delighted with The Peasant and the Pear. A real find! We were greeted by a friendly staff for an early reservation on our anniversary. Our server, Stephanie, is one in a million; warm and knowledgeable, she couldn't have been more lovely. She had the chef come to our table and Rodney was so down to earth, so enthusiastic about his restaurant, informative about the fare and very generous. Their signature Peartini was amazing. Really, everything was delicious. But the risotto was truly out of this world, the best I have ever had and I've had some darn good risottos! Chef Rodney gets 5 stars; for his flavors, his use of texture, for doing it all in an inviting, unpretentious and very reasonably priced establishment. Bravo!

The food was good (we had the coq au vin and the salmon). The service was impeccable. The noise level was too loud. I could not hear my date very well, with two large, loud tables next to us. I won't go back.

It was my first time at the restaurant, my Daughter highly recommended it and we were so happy she did. It was a 35 year anniversary lunch for a group of ladies from various places.

The food was delicious and we were pleasantly surprised to see a decent wine pour for a glass of wine.

We will be back next year and I live in Gilroy so I will be back soon.

This is the first time I have not given 5 across the board. The meal was good but missed the usual great. The service was OK but not great, we were asked if we wanted bread, it used to just be brought, we said yes and never got it. The meals were salty and my husbands sauce tasted of flour. We hope this was just a bad Monday and not a new trend.

Went here for breakfast brunch a while back and decided to go for dinner on a Thursday night. It was my wife's birthday month and I wanted to have a nice meal in a nice place. This was it! Great service from beginning to the end. The drinks were spot on and I had probably the best Long Island iced tea that I've ever had. The pear martini was old very good. I had the lamb shank and my wife had the beef Wellington. Both were delicious and cooked to our likes. We also had calamari and poke for appetizers. Ended it with a nice cake compliments from the restaurant and also Crete brûlée. I love this place! Can't wait to go back again for any occasion.

The Peasant & the Pear is one of our favorite restaurants and it didn't disappoint. The service was excellent, the restaurant looked beautiful decorated for the holidays and the food was great. They offered a deconstructed Beef Wellington that my sister enjoyed and I had the burrata starter with a side of the best polenta I've ever had.

Found two hairs in my food. First time it was in a starter and we decided to let that go and not mention it to the serve. My main dish came and had another hair (most likely from a different head). We decided to tell the server about the main dish. Don’t think I️ will be back. Great service but can’t get over the hair in two dishes.

Wanted to love this place but couldn’t. Pros: gave us comp dessert for hubbys bday cons: tables too close and sat others too close. We Are talking...server was talking to the table next to us, her butt was resting on our table close! Server not attentive (poured all our own wine). Food was just OK.

My overall experience was great. The only complaint I had was how slowly my cocktails were prepared. I had to stand at the bar for quite sometime. I even had an employee come by who asked if I had been helped, which I did but all I was doing was waiting and waiting. The food was great and the atmosphere was great. I will come again.

The service was outstanding. Food was crazy good. I had Prawns El Diablo - spicey but mouth-watering. Presentation was beautiful too. Husband had their signature chicken salad sandwich. It was huge! But he said it was too good to leave any and finished it. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed our lunch on the patio next to the fountain. Lovely.

We have been to this place a number of times - it's a lovely setting and always good food and reasonably good service. Unfortunately, this time we were quite disappointed. The food came out seemingly partially cooked - half cold and half ok. This happened on both the appetizer and main courses. The server was quite apologetic, but it was obvious when the plates were set on the table the food was not prepared properly. We should not have had to call her back to request it to be cooked completely.

Like I said - disappointing and not sure we will be back.

My husband and I went to this restaurant for our anniversary last weekend. Overall it was very good but there were a couple of frustrating things - first of all, my steak was WAY undercooked. I ended up taking most of it home and having steak and eggs the next day because I just couldn’t stomach eating it that rare (we didn’t see our server for ages so I couldn’t complain). Second of all our server wasn’t the best, she disappeared for long periods and we had to ask for things like refills which she should have offered us anyway. On the plus side, the rest of the meal and my husbands meal was delicious, and the cocktails were lovely. Maybe it was just an off night, so I’d definitely try here again.

Best brunch we've had in ages! From the mimosas to the eclectic menu, we thoroughly enjoyed this tucked-away gem in Danville. Lovely quiet ambience and classy decor, scrumptious handcrafted cocktails, and the friendliest servers. Fresh greens, perfect quiche... it was difficult deciding among the entrees. This was the first time ever that I went to a restaurant, had a meal, and then immedaitely made a reservation for another meal at the same place. We have been using OpenTable to find new restaurants -- but after the amazing brunch here, we want to try their dinner menu next week.
